  1. You're right for the 46 mm models but they use some thing else for the 34 mm ones.
  2. Thanks guys, Hey Fezza, yep they are the standard trebles that come with them. Next time I think i'll upgrade them to owner stingers
  3. After my second cast of a Berkley Big Eye Blade it got smashed. With the missing eyes on both sides and the bent treble you'd think it would have been a good fish but it was only a 27 cm breams (I think he was on steroids) Has any one else had any experiences with these lures?
  4. E21 Carrot Stix would look funky with a SOL the CLTX-662ML-F-S should do the trick =)
  5. After a tough day at work I decided to out and walk the dog in a fishy looking drain that i've driven past many times as it was getting dark. After peppering the drain with bevy's, rover's and keroll's with out a swirl I went retro with the good old faithful purple attack minnow. First cast right into the middle of the drain a bolt of bronze and I'm on. After a few runs and some anxious moments in comes this thumper bass after a couple of photos with my camera phone he went back in.
  6. Try trimming the tail off a livie and fishing it unweighed.
  7. I'd agree with you on the V System 15. I've got 2 of them and swear by them the only concern I have is the spool capacity is tiny (you'll find a 125lb spool of 2lb gel spun line will fill it up) but that just adds to the fun when fishing ultra light tackle. If this freaks you out you might wanna consider the 20 which has a slightly larger line capacity.
  8. During the day plastics work well on jewies. I've caught a few land based fishing small plastics most of them in the schoolie/soapie class. I fish light line 4 to 8 lb braid (jewies are very landable on light gear), 6 to 8 lb fluro carbron trace and a minnow/jerk shad/shad patterns between 3 to 4 inches.
  9. The FB Sedona was a shocker for wind knots and it was absolutley horrible with braid as it never laid it properly, but they reckon the FD is alot better. I haven't tried an FD yet but it might be worth ago. For ~ the $120 mark I'd save and spend an extra $50 and get a Daiwa Exceller DA reel to me for the price it's a superior reel and its a solid metal body, you can't go wrong with it.

    Carp

Try a bread float on the surface, you should be able to get them from your local store or if you can't find them you can super glue a bit of white foam onto a hook. You can fish the fly with a small bubble float about a metre from the float. Berley up with some bread and get them feeding off the surface and throw the fly in and sooner or latter you'll land one. Other ways we target carp on plastics is we use brown single tailed grubs (no larger then 3 inch) and look for them feeding head down (you'll know when carp are feeding as you'll see dust clouds around the area they are feeding). Cast behind where the carp are feeding (don't cast into the cloud as you'll spook the fish) and with a slow retrieve bounce bring the plastic into the cloud and stop you're retrieve for 10 -15 seconds if you don't get a take in that time bring it in a foot or two and dead stick it. A carp strike is often a slight movement of the line. You gotta be fast to strike as they drop the lure very quickly.
  11. There are plenty of eels and carp there. Fisheries do stock bass from time to time.
  12. Have you tried cutting off some of the weight on the jigs you've bought. This will help the jig sink slower which will make a big difference.
  13. They are all around 30 to 35 cms, The first one I got, I posted http://fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.ph...c=25169&hl= this was a couple of years ago, we've caught quite a few since.
  14. Great stuff !! Is Taylor's Bay the spot around the corner from Clifton Garden's?
  15. Doesn't surprise me, I've got quite a few in the parramatta river and some of the creeks in the hills area. August/September in a few of my regular carp spots I was getting more perch than carp to the point I was starting to think perch are a pest.
  16. Baitwise we use bread, corn or beef heart for carp we some times get them on small plastics and as the water warms up and the fish feeding on the surface we'll be targetting them on bread flies. Rig's we keep them very simple with 1 or 2 lb braid main line with a 60 cm 4lb fluro carbon leader to a size 6 or 8 hook. We've seen a few people coarse fishing around here, but i've never seen them land a fish.
  17. Parra river's answer to Benson on 1 kilo line. Took me 15 minutes to land not sure about the weight but he was one fat bugger.
  18. You'll need some tension on the line as you'll find that fish such as bream and jewies often hit your lures on the fall. Watch for slight movements in your line and when you're confident there's a fish on it tighten up and strike. There's no need to open the bail arm and let it free fall down as you'll loose a lot of strikes and secondly you'll fine having line with tension will allow the lure to fall towards you as oppose to straight time which looks natural.
  19. I've caught black bream as far north as Ballina but the shape of it makes me think it could be a Pikey Bream
  20. Snakeheads/Toman's awesome looking fish i've heard they go really hard. My dad grew up catching them in Malaysia as a kid. Next time i'm over there i'm going to give em a try. In Malaysia they've also got peacock bass, barra and jacks as well
  21. I'd go a 7 footer, you don't need to cast far to get those species off a wharf and the leverage you get makes a big difference when trying to stop a kingie from getting into the pylons. If you have to navigate a kingie with a longer rod from getting to close to the pylon's it's too late and nothing you do will stop em. But then again this is only my opinion. I prefer going softly softly and hope they go out to the deep water then tire them out rather then having a green fish close in.
  22. Be careful there are some fluro carbon brands that are way too stiff and have no line memory at all. What will happen is that the line will spring off the spool and will cause you a heap of grief when using it. There are some other brands such as Berkley Vanish and the Line Systems fluro carbon that work a treat as a man line.
  23. I think you're spot on. It ooks like a snotty (warehou) to me
  24. If you're fishing shallow water or shallow try fishing your gulps unweighed. If you're fishing deep water dropshotting would be the way to go. I've never tried deadsticking a plastic but I can't see why it won't work as gulp's can work like bait any way. Another option you might want to try in deeper water is fishing a blade. You've got 2 sets of trebles with a blade compared to a single hook with a plastic and you'll have a much better hook up rate.
