  1. Use a slim beauty knot the tags point to the other way then the albright and is a much slimmer knot therefore it cast alot better than the albright knot.
  2. Looks like a latchet to me
  3. Took the family out for a day trip and decided to take the fly rod as i'm wanting to practice my fly casting. After getting onto the wharf i strip out 10 metres of line and make a very ugly cast. Stripped the fly back about a metre and WHAM i'm on..... at first i thought it was a mullet or a bream and then it took line and I was onto backing......was think this has got to be the mother of all bream. As I worked back inch by inch I finally net this bass to my surprise as I was fishing in the salt. Not sure how big he was but from the label of rod to the end of the rod is 40 cm.
  4. I've been a landbased fisho for a long time and the state of the wharves are disgusting. I can empathize with the commuters who have to deal with this day in and day out as I catch public transport to and from work and there would be nothing worst than having to be confronted by the smell of fish and human excrement first thing in the morning. Perhaps the better solution would be to ban bait fishing off the wharves and let them be lure only zones.
  5. Well it's been done on Iron Chef, sadly thought my culinary skills aren't up to scratch to do it =(
  6. =) You bet, nothing better than Carp Sashimi but u do need the extra WASABI !!
  7. Benson II got him today, a lot of fun they pull a lot of line.
  8. My money would be on the humble blurter. They love peeled prawns, I've seen rods go over the side and a 100 mph and some one is lucky enough to foul hook the rod with a tired blurter on the end of it.
  9. The NW Pencil is one of my favourite lures, i find the best way to get this lure working is: 1) Use a mono trace to your braid, I run a trace of at least a rod length. 2) Use a loop knot, learn how to tie a good lefty's loop or a rapala knot, I almost find it impossible to get a lure to walk properly with a tight knot like a uni or a 1/2 blood knot. 3) The way I work the lure is with downward rod movements and 1/2 a turn of the handle at the same time. Hope this helps
  10. Thanks for looking into this SAFisho from this it does look like 75 cm's would be a good size limit. Hopefully they go ahead with this.
  11. Do a web search on pendulum casting. This technique is very effective for casting light weights far. I regularly fish jigheads as light as 1/32 and am able to get it out my lures a good distance. You might also want to try a PE braid like TD Sensor or Castaway I find that these lines cast a lot further then when i fish with gelspun lines
  12. Thought provoking comments there Anthony but should size limits be determined by what is possible for fisherman to achieve or should it be based upon ensuring the long term viability of the species? My thoughts are that research should be done to find out what size would a jewie spawn and from there we should set the size limit so that the fish have at least a couple of opportunities to spawn before they become allowed to be kept. What ever that size may be, i'm sure it'll be a lot longer than the current size limit of 45 cm. At the end of the day what ever guarantee's that my kids are able to have catch jewies and gives them a reasonable chance to catch bigger jewfish than dad (as if ) I'll support it. Thanks Ming
  13. You should be fine, 4 inch is fine for flatties. With jewies i've got them on every thing from a 2 inch gulp shrimps up.
  14. There are some good spots near your Uni, u'll be surprised what you can pull out of the river between rydalmere and parramatta weir. Theres a lot of structure and a lot of good fish.
  15. This area is pretty much my backyard. Feel free to follow me down.
  16. Every thing seems to eat them from mullet to kings, they look really . They are a very odd looking lure but they are really versatile lure and you can work thme like you would a popper or you could even work em as a WTD lure.
  17. Awesome stuff, Im looking forward to getting amongst them once again this season. Have you ever tried targeting the freshwater mullet on the surface lures? they are a formidable target and pound for pound they'd pull a king backwards. Last season we were getting them regularly which chasing bass on lucky craft kerolls.
  18. Get a Nitro Power Bream finesse or if u're cashed up get a Nitro Vapor. I can't say much about the T Curve as I don't own one, the Lox ain't a bad rod but they have a reputation for being brittle. Having said that I used it on the weekend chasing carp and I got 3 fish over 10 lb's on 2lb microfuse and it seemed to creak a little on what i'd consider as whimpy drag settings i'd be nervous putting any line heavier than 4lb on it. My Nitro's feel a lot more solid and better built than the Lox and I'd have a lot more faith handling a jewie or kingy that occasionally hit my bream lures than i would on the lox
  19. I've got both the 6"8 2-5 kilo Rack Raider and I've got a 7 foot 2 - 4 kilo Trion and I'd say the Raider is a softer stick and is better than the Trion for fishing top water and hard bodies butI would say the Trion is better for plastics.

    Dioxins

Dioxins won't make you sick over one or two meals but it will build up over time and will increase your risk of getting cancer. The argument that fish swim has been taken into account by NSW Food Authority hence the recommendation to limit the consumption of fish east of the harbor bridge and not to eat any fish west of the harbor. It would be irresponsible with out understanding the science behind these recommendation to ignore these warnings. I don't believe you can say that the coloration of bream is a safe guide to indicate how long a fish has been in the system. I would be more inclined to believe that the darker fish you catch would be black bream and the more silver fish would be yellow fin bream. I do occasionally catch yellow fin bream from time to time in fresh water while fishing for bass in places where you'd think how'd they get there and I can tell you these fish are no different to bream caught off the beach.
  21. I use the 1/8 ounce when targeting bream and bass. When it's dark the red and orange nightmare's unbeatable and they are the goto lure. When the sun is up I like the copperhead and sunset gold.
  22. Perhaps we should draft a Maslow's Hierachy for fish to settle this =) My 2 cents on this is if you berley up any way close to shelter over a period of time you'll have your very own fishing mecca at your door. I'd also recommend you look at the way carp coarse fisho's approach ground baiting there's some interesting stuff that will get your inner feng shui master drooling.
  23. He died with out having a run in with the Anti-Carp... or did he...
  24. G'day, has any one tried this line in the 2 or 3 lb breaking strains? How does it cast? Does it have a lot of memory? I'm thinking of filling a daiwa luvias 2506 series spinning reel with it. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
  25. I'd second that, i've got the same combo of a powerbream with a certate most awesome bream combo i've owned. I've tried my lox yoshi on it and i'm finding it too tip heavy with the certate
