I caught a couple of these things in salt water canals on the shoal haven years ago. body about 4 inches long. very salty water.

I have a simple theory. leave it cleaner than u found it. If you see some rubbish next to the ramp or wharf pick it up. I picked up a birds nest of line with a hook and sinker attached at narrabene lagoon. a passer by saw me and commented some thing about fishermen being a bunch of d#@% heads. I replied that I was one of those d#@% heads. only I was cleaning up after an a-hole who did not reflect mine or 99% of fishermens attitude toward the environment. He replied, I take it back some fishermen are d#@% heads, I laughed and said yeah, and some people call fish sea kittens. I hope that was not too harsh on our tree hugging friends.

I would not buy any motor without seeing it run. You will want to see that the thermostat opens when it gets warm. The tell tale will not show this. Condition of the prop is a good indication of past treatment. Check to see if it looks like the block has been apart like my 99 yammy 70hp. A small piece of impeller came away and jammed in the water jacket at the bottom cylinder. Before it seized the bottom spark plug began to corrode apparantly due to the added heat. I pulled the motor down, sent the block off for a re bore. picked up new piston and over size rings and she screams like a new one.

Hey mate. If new plugs made the issue better you should look at the plug lead. My wifes old charade had a similar miss. new points and plugs helped but new leads made all the difference.

After watching a pro take around four fishboxes of 30 to 40 cm jew from one net at the eaves one after noon I gave up any hope of the powers that be doing any thing but bend over for the pros and in turn bend over the rec sector. In my experience,which is substantial a lot of the "pros" in a lot of fisheries are receiving hand outs from the tax payer anyway. How often do you actually see local fish in local shops. most fish in shops around woollongong are from NZ. It might be a bit over the top but I would love the gov piss of 90 percent of them leaving the real pros to make a good living and the fish stocks get a fair chance to rebuild.

I have watched for many hours flute mouths ambushing glassys in the ribbon weed at the small trawler wharf at greenwell point. caught a couple and definantly had the "whip" on the tail.

As a livey they go alright for the john dory in the harbour

Just watch out for those teeth. you wont be grinning if they open up your finger.

I like hunting and spear fishing, I love fishing. I am also a conservationist. I like quite a few politicians but hate politics. Surley there are enough likeminded people out there so as to weild some sort of power or have some sort of legitimate imput into our "system".

Ive had them spew out of dolphin fish that size before also

There are a couple of variants in the Cockie species. we tried them as lobster bait and not even a crustacean with no brain would touch them.

Mowie, never heard of a grey one ,banded, red and blue, all taste good in my book, bled put on ice and the black stomach linning cleaned out.
