  2. Thanks a lot mate!!! Will give it a shot
  3. Hey guys My old sienna is having drag issues... The drag doesnt make any sound anymore and isnt very smooth. I know shimano reels have warranty but unfortunately i cant find any proof of purchase so i think that is out of the question. Is there any fix you guys know of? Cheers guys Tag
  4. Yeah, catching fish is good, but doing it with dad is a lot better! Cheers guys
  5. I went on the 5th and did pretty well on jews, but other than that has not been that productive.... Probably all the trawling....
  6. Hey Raiders, Was out for 1 week at Lake Keepit doing a university geology subject. While there couldnt resist bringing some rods. Initially tried spinnerbaits for natives, no success and a tonne of snags. I kept seeing carp rise or swim past so decided to give them a shot. Stopped by a servo and picked up some canned corn for the cheap price of $7 per can . However, it was well worth, absolutely cleaned up on the carp! Carp are always a good bit of fun especially when they are a decent size and you get them every cast! (Big one in the photo not caught by me but by a mate)
  7. Really keen to get on the dollies! Well done mate!
  8. Jesus! Some people are crazy... Wish you all the best mate!
  9. Cheers guys! Went for another quick flick after i got back from a week away and managed another, id never realised how crazy they were for plastics!
  10. Thanks a lot for the comments guys, went out again yesterday and got into another! Cheers and tight lines.
  11. Well done mate! I can't think of any fish i want more than a metre plus jew, I can't imagine how stoked you must be!
  12. Hey Raiders, Dad got back from a long work trip in the middle east only a few days ago and has had non stop meetings since. Today he finally got off work at a reasonable time so we decided to head down to cowan creek near bobbin head for a quick session. My dad is a huge plastics fan so plan was to target flatty and anything else that fancied a hit. Had no success for a while, decided to head to my jewie spot instead as i've got a bunch of flathead there before. First cast there, got a take, missed it. Now i'm not usually a plastics fisherman, don't mind bait, jigs, hardbodies, but never had much success on plastics, so for me this was a huge event. Motivated by my unbelievable result, i continued flicking plastics. Just after a flick, as i watched the line start to tighten as the plastic sank, it tightened a lot and really quick, i called dad, let it run for a sec, then struck. The fish then went on a run which emptied half of the 8lb line on my 2500 reel. I played him in for a while and then all of sudden, slack. Reeled in to find i'd been cut off. This was as crushing as it was exciting. My dad quickly chucked me the plastics and i rigged one on, this time with 30lb leader. I cast straight back out, and the second the bait hit the bottom, i was on, same massive run. After a 5 minute fight, i brought in my first jew on plastics measuring in at 67cm. We released the jew and were straight back out there. It went quiet for a while, then all of a sudden my dad got an insane take. He'd never caught a jew before so I was really hoping he'd get it. Unfortunately, it went straight to the right taking my dads line to the rocks. The fish then did a turn back to the middle of the river and after a long fight my dad hauled in his first jew. The jew measured 78cm, a new pb for my dad. All in all, a great night and a good break from work for my dad. I'll definitely be using plastics while i have livies out.
  13. Good job on the flatty! Always a nice thing to come home with.
  14. What exam mate? I too finished my uni exams this morning but with a little less success on the fish front, swimming a bit more tempting! Good job on the fish!
  15. Round sunset there are loads of tailor on the surface, bit slow on lures but very happy to take live gar or yakka and will take pilly. Good luck mate!
  16. Tailor are a lot of fun and taste great. Good job mate!
  17. Well done mate, if you dont mind me asking, where abouts did you get livies in the harbour, i really struggled last week
  18. Easily one of the things which makes me most angry, good on you for cleaning up.
  19. Well done mate, pittwater is only going to get better as the season advances.
  20. I was using 30lb line, had big rig out in hopes of a much bigger jew nonetheless, he went like a monster, i don't know if i could have stopped him if he'd hit my 12lb outfit
  21. Cowan creek is off 80% of the time but every once in a while it is dynamite
  22. Thanks a lot, i was as happy to release it as i was to catch it! Thanks mate! Was caught in Cowan creek
  23. Hey guys, Decided to head out for a quick jewie session yesterday. Was taking out a mate who hasn't fished a lot in the past. By the time i picked him up and we walked all the way to my spot, it was already well past 6. We got straight into the livie fishing, and it didn't go great. Then, right before sunset he managed a solid yakka and I got a herring. Hope! We fished a bit for tailor on pillies and must have dropped 3 or 4 before the bite quietened down I decided to chuck out the yakka and within maybe 5 minutes of him being out, the rod began to buckle really slow. I was expecting a flatty or a smaller slower fish, right as i struck and was going to pass it off to my mate, the drag started screaming. We figured it was best i handled this one. It went on quite a few big runs and took me almost 5 minutes to bring in. A lot of excitement when we first saw the big fish. We finally got the big jew in the net, first time ive seen my net handle bend! Measuring in at 85cm and just under 8kg, solid fish, hopefully plenty more to come this season! Edit: Forgot to mention, jewie was released, its close to breeding time for the fish, at the end of the day you sleep better knowing a big breeder is in the water rather than your fridge.
  24. Well done mate, fish that make many dream!
  25. Thats so cool! Hell of a surprise when fishing for flatty haha, Well done mate!
