  13. Hey Raiders, Havent posted in a while, have had loads of Uni Assignments and have been volunteering with a marine bio lab in USYD doing photo analysis. Only times I've been able to get out have been late nights and for short periods, so have been sticking close to home, Cowan Creek. As a result, most my evenings are spent chasing Jewie or Hairtail. Last year i caught my first 2 hairtail just over legal, this year, have been doing A LOT better. Haven't fished any one spot, just move around looking for big schools of tailor, the hairtail are usually right under the. Caught probably close to 15 all between 1.1-1.6m but dropped countless more . Oh well that's fishing, catch em drop em it's such a good night out who cares! Been getting several Jewfish as well, no beasts, all under legal, mostly after lots of burley, when there are plenty of yakkas below the boat. Am teaching a friend to fish, he caught his first jew going 65cm, he was absolutely stoked, I am pretty sure at this point seeing the joy on a mates face after his first jewfish is just as good as any fish caught yourself! Also got a solid tailor going 55cm. Sorry for the mix-mash post! Cheers, Tag

    Found Rod

Hey guys, I know its a long shot but i found a fishing rod at apple tree bay a couple of days ago and its a pretty pricey rod/reel setup. I managed to repair and clean it and was just wondering if it was anyones here? If you could specify the combo so i know its yours id be more than happy to organise a return!
  18. Thanks a lot mate! I tried a white hardbody with red head and sure enough, got a couple more small ones! Really appreciate the tips!
  19. Leader and line are made pretty different since they are used differently. Mainline attempts to be as thin as possible for its weight rating so you can have more on the spool and cast further whilst leader is meant to be hitting rocks and teeth so it is especially thick and usually less visible in the water. That being said, if you get yourself a clear spool of mainline, a lot of the time it is good enough especially if you are chasing clean fighting fish that arent too toothy. Hope this helps!
  20. Hey guys, I caught my first king not long ago in a bust up in the harbour on a spanyid raider. Id like to keep catching kings on lure but not only are bust ups not always there but when they are its mostly on lure. Does anyone have any recommendations for lures to use, heard stickbaits do the trick but not sure what kinds are good. Also, should i keep just looking for surface action or are there other areas i should try? Not asking for spots, more a profile of tge areas kings frequent, sandy shallows, channel markers or near headlands are the areas ive seen boats chase them but not sure which would work best on lure. Thanks a lot for the help guys, now my king addiction has kicked off i'm getting withdrawal symptoms

    Pittwater

Around the barges on the west side of scotland island is one of the better known king spots in the area.
  22. Well done mate, sounds like a hell of a day! When reef fishing do you go straight to reefs you know the coords of or do you look for em?
  23. Shame no kings, still sounds like an alright day though, i had a huge king (1m+) follow in a tailor i had on. I also tried to chuck a dead one at it but no luck. Good job mate and better luck on the kings next time.
  24. I used to get really sea sick but there are anti seasickness tablets called kwells which work absolute miracles, worth a shot
  25. Nice job, i cant think of any better gift my dad gave me than a love for fishing, your boys will thank you in the future!
