  2. Hey raiders, The canopy on my boat has gotten pretty cracked, boat isnt brand new and sun and wind have taken their toll. Boat is a 5.5m cuddy cabin boat and i live in the hornsby area. Does anyone know of where i could take it to get it redone? Im happy to drive up to 40 minutes to get it sorted. Cheers, Tag
  3. Well done mate, hell of a time to find freedom, the fishing is really starting to get good! Good luck with your thesis and the fish.
  4. Hey mate, We usually just put the slabs on the bottom with size 2-4 sinkers. Hope that helps!
  5. My bad! Always assumed it was called offshore wind as it came from offshore!
  6. Hey Raiders, Been out for a while due to exams but managed a few sneaky jewie sessions in between. All of them were super rewarding! Got out to our spot in Cowan creek with a bit of time to catch bait, a lot of the time ended up catching big mullet or tailor which were used as slab baits. A bit before dark the insane jewfish runs start, caught several a couple of legal jews and several in the 60s. Have been teaching a mate to fish all winter, so for him to finally be rewarded by his first legal jewie was awesome. Also tried plastics and squid. Plastics had no success, caught occasional 60cm jews on the squid. None came close to the success of big slabs. To celebrate finishing exams, we headed down to a mates holiday house in Jervis Bay for a spot of fishing. Plan was to fish beaches, all day and see if we picked up bait for the bigger stuff at night. We caught plenty of dart on beach worms and pilly fillets which we put out at night in hopes of some shark. Got 3 takes the first night and didn't hook one. Feeling pretty defeated, we tried the same thing the next day. The strong offshore wind made casting a nightmare and coated the beach in blue bottles. But our persistance paid off with three sharks landed by the end of the night. Sorry for skimming over everything, cramming a few trips into one, hopefully plenty more to come this summer! Tag
  7. Been going pretty good, but i have exams at the moment so havent been going out too much, how bout yourself?
  8. I absolutely love the reels, the baitfeeder option is really nice/practical for livebait fishing but definitely not necessary, the default works well.
  9. Well done mate! Looks like an absolute dream of a trip.
  10. Hey raiders, Wanted to give prawning a try, was hoping to try around the hawkesbury, not sure a) how to do it, and if im allowed to do it. If anyone can recommend any guides or let me know wether or not it is legal would be much appreciated! Thanks, Tag
  11. Yeah, walk from cowan station down to Jerusalem bay
  12. Hey mate, Thats one hell of a puffer lol! In the fishraider record section, lure records refer to fish caught on lures like hardbodies or plastics, you caught yours on bait, so you cant claim that one i think, however if you check bait records that puffer will probably win there! Good luck, Tag
  13. Thanks for the comments guys! I wont be forgetting that bream any time soon @bearsawyer this was landbased @fish reaper nope, not spencer, i was near the mouth of cowan creek
  14. Hey raiders, Headed down for another jewfish session at my spot in the hawkesbury on monday. However, the moment the track met the water i noticed a weird effect on the surface, it looked like it was raining. Not a cloud in the sky i had a closer look. It was millions of tiny whitebait everywhere in the water. Instead of continuing to my jewfish spot i decided to fish on the school. After a long toss up between putting on a plastic and looking for the predators below the school or a little metal lure across the surface, i went for the metal lure. Maybe 2 or 3 casts in i saw a decently sized fish go for my lure but miss it. Cast straight back in the same spot and was on. As the fish took a big jump in the air i realised it was a big salmon, but it didnt matter as he spat the lure . Couple more casts in the same spot nothing. Maybe 10 minutes later I saw another fish follow the lure in. It was a rat king . I'd never seen a king in this area before so was pretty damn excited. I dont even know how many more times i casted that lure to no avail, never getting another sighting of the king. By now the whitebait school was starting to make its way up the river. I hurried to my jewfish spot and set up. I put out a small bait under the whitebait school for flathead/bream or any other predator hoping for an easy meal. Before i could put out a jewie bait in i saw some busting up about 50m to the right of my spot. Not thinking i ran over to cast a lure at it, leaving my baited rod in the holder. First cast into the bust up and i hear the sound of drag coming from my spot . I ran over, luckily the fish was still on. After a pretty long fight on light line, i pulled in and netted the biggest bream I've ever caught (43cm). Was absolutely stoked unfortunately, due to how long it took me to get to my rod, the hook had hit his gills hard and i was unable to release him, a mistake i wont make again. My mate arrived at this point and we started targetting jewfish hard. I got one average sized jewfish on a big plastic which was quickly released. But no more takes after that. All in all a very fun and exciting session, bodes very well for the coming spring! Tag
  15. Cheers guys! Also, mshuangchao, where we fish for jewfish drops to 12m at the deepest, would be very keen to give your jigging technique a go there one time, what sort of depths do you jig at?
  16. Hey raiders, Been heading down to the hawkesbury every spare moment i have lately. Most sessions i aim to be there by 3 to give us time to get live bait, plenty of gar around at the moment. Livies out by sunset so we can plastic on the side. Been getting plenty of jews between 30 and 65cms. 65cm fish took a large plastic just after sunset as it was sinking, swallowed the whole thing. Put up a good fight and swam off happily afterwards. I cant think of many better feelings! All the best, Tag
  17. Really depends what you are going for, bread and butter whiting, flathead etc or jewfish and small sharks.
  18. No worries mate, good luck!
  19. Hey Chris, Id be happy to join you for a beach session one evening, i am available most nights except tuesdays and thursdays so let me know what time suits you. Tag
  20. Nah dont worry, just around the edges
  21. Hey Michael, Absolutely not, there are plenty of kings willing to hit trolled baits or lures, especially if you troll live yakkas or squid. I caught my first king this summer trolling small lures through bust up in the harbour. Also, you will probably hear this a lot, but regardless of best times, if you just put in the hours and get out there a lot you will be on to fish in no time. All the best, Tag
