  1. When everything else fails read the manual.
  2. Welcome Rubes, I like the handling of a Cougarcraft as I have the 5 metre side console, Son has 540 Trailcraft and says it handles better than his. The broad beam and reverse chimes makes it very stable, have in fact been caught in a very rough sea coming home one day and no thumping at all, just like a giant shock absorber on the way down. Mark I am sure I have seen this boat before? Anyhow nothing wrong with getting all this feedback.
  3. No one could pronounce my surname "cheyne" So one of my bowling mates nicknamed me "chainsaw" as he said a cut above the rest.

Hi fisher 1 suppose you will now be fitting your foil to the new engine, can't waste it. Great news to hear that a mfr has come good like that. Rod

    Leaning Boat

I suspected that the foil was not fitted square.
  6. Thank you, I'll PM him.
  7. Hi TunOFun, boat is capable of getting out to deeper water but most of the time would be inshallow water. The thing is, does a overpowered transducer create viewing problems?

Hi fisher 1, try it without the hydrofoil or tell all your fat mates to get on the starboard side.
  9. Ready to purchase a Furuno FCV585 for the boat. Which tranducer? Is there a problem of using a 1Kw in shallower water? Or is it just a waste of money getting the bigger unit? Being used in Nth Qld.

Hi Scout, Just fitted one to my zuki, agree not hard to remove prop make sure grease the splines when replacing. Instruction are quiet good but use a couple of small G clamps to position it before starting to drill, also I found it easier to tilt the motor back. I used marine grade sikaflex in the holes while assembling and fitted stainless washers (which are not supplied). PM me if any problems. Rod
  11. Hi Billfisher, (and others) From an Automotive Engineers point of view. In a lot of cases with the modern auto engine (dont know about marine) the cylinder heads are not retensioned, special composition head gaskets are used and in some cases sealants are used on the head bolts retensioning disturbs the sealant. The correct way to retension a bolt is to loosen it then retighten it to the correct tension (in sequence). The more "padding" that can be put into an invoice seems to justify the price. Rod By the way for all the critics, thats not the mast sticking out of my boat its my fishing rod.
  12. A woman goes into the BigW department-store to buy a fishing rod and reel for her grandson's birthday. She doesn't know which one to get, so she just grabs one and goes over to the counter. The BigW salesman is standing there, wearing dark glasses. She says, "Excuse me. Can you tell me anything about this rod and reel?" He says, "Madam, I'm completely blind but, if you'll drop it on the counter, I can tell you everything you need to know about it from the sound it makes." She doesn't believe him but drops it on the counter anyway. He says, "That's a two metre Shakeunderwatere graphite rod with a Zebco 404 reel and 5-kg.Test line. It's a good all-round combination and it's on sale this week for a special price of $44." She says, "It's amazing that you can tell all that just by the sound of it dropping on the counter. I'll take it!" As she opens her purse, her credit card drops on the floor. "Oh, you're going to pay by credit card" he says. "That sounds like a Visacard to me." As the lady bends down to pick up the card, she accidentally farts. At first, she is really embarrassed but then realises there is no way the blind salesman could tell it was she who had farted. The man rings up the sale and says, "That'll be $58.50 please." The woman is totally confused by this and asks, "Didn't you tell me it was on sale for $44. How did you get to $58.50?" "The Duck Caller is $11 and the Fish Bait is $3.50."
  13. Marvelous what a bit of networking can turn up. Anyone buying a charger should not be looking at the price alone. The old saying "you get what you pay for" Just make sure it has an automatic cutoff in the long run will save on batteries. Check out this old link as well that came up on Google www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/lofiversion/index.php?t2381.html
