  1. If you can, fish completely unweighted. This can be an issue if there is sweep and other pickers, but increases my catch rate. Use mustad sneck hooks not long shank! They're very sticky. And for bait- anything works really
  2. Yeah I returned this morning for two choppers on pilchards, had the leave due to the terrible weather Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Hey Raiders, First report, not really much. Arrived at about 4:30 pm to see another guy get wrapped around a pylon by a kingie, on a handline. I rigged up an unweighted 6 inch stickbait on a worm hook as well as a pilchard on a paternoster rig. Rain set in but when it cleared a flock of birds started circling about 20 metres away. Schools of bait were jumping everywhere and i though i was in with a chance. Cast into the middle of the action and the stickbait got nailed by... a seagull Pulled that in, and luckily it wasn't hooked. Kept trying until night fall and then packed up. Eventful day, but not in my favour.

  7. Am I going to notice a difference in catch rates? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. 50 meter casts with a shooting head?! thats pretty solid range!
  9. Would making a coldwater head, but tropical running line make it shoot better, yet still let me cast loops?
  10. Cheers! There aren't any more questions I could possibly ask!
  11. Is burley a good idea? Will it help out? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Essays are good! Lots of good info that isn't really out there. What type of backing and strength do you prefer to run (dacron, braid...) and how much backing is enough? What are the flies you're using too? Is a 7 wt better for salmon off the rocks? Too many questions! But thanks for the invaluable advice. Cheers, Nick
  13. Is 9wt the go to size? Any rod/reel combos you like in particular? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Swordfisherman a social would be great
  15. For SPs 3 inch minnows in nuclear chicken and pumpkinseed are good as well as 2-4" prawn imitations. 1/8 oz jig with or 1/0 hook are also good, for the flathead especially. Jews need much tougher tackle, and work on a lighter jig 1/12 or 1/16 with a slightly smaller hook size for bream. If you can with the prawns, fish them unweighted and let them drift down, just with a fluorocarbon leader. For jews fresh squid is a solid bait, and that should also be sent out unweighted, with one hook through the hood. Use a swivel about a meter from the squid. Good luck!
  16. Hey Raiders, Does anyone know if this sort of fishing is possible off sydney rocks? Cheers!
  17. Mate I'm not chasing bream or drummer, but the topwater fish!!! Cheers for the help though
