  1. Why couldnt they be there when I fished there last week?!
  2. Have you tried balancing the reel on your rod?
  3. Hey mate I'm running a 3012h branzino with the 8'6" ags battler that dan has. With 30 lb braid it casts a mile and I use it for all the fish you are targeting. The extra cost means I take external maintenance quite thoroughly (magseal is supposed to do the internals................ Not entirely sold on it). I put on the metal rcs power round handle because I don't like the t knob. In the end the branzino is just a certate, with more bling. There are more bearings and all bearings upgraded to corrosion resistant bearings and magseal bearings, as well as having hyper digigears like it in the saltiga. It's up to you if that's worth the extra $400!
  4. Hey guys, I'm heading to Hawaii at the end of the week. I can only bring the fly rod because it is compact. Does anyone know any good landbased spots - I'm based in honolulu. Cheers!
  5. Hi guys, this post is for any fish whisperers out there. Where are the kingfish going to be for a landbased session in sydney tomorrow?! Some of you guys just seem to know where every session! Cheers, Nick
  6. Unrelated to your question but how much did you get them for? I've always wanted to give a baitcaster a go and that might be a way to do it!
  7. Commiserations - happened to me at rushcutters bay 2 weeks ago. Know the feeling
  8. If you can afford it go for a shimano stradic 4000 and a 7-9 foot graphite rod such as an impact nano with your choice of length. If you're using a 6'6" rod 10' will feel strange so maybe try an 8' rod with a 4-6 or 6-8 kg rating
  9. I use an 8'6" rod with a fast action. I can get 50 metre casts with 15 gm metals, and 80+ with 25 g metals. Perhaps the rod you're using has too slow an action and is too short. I also have a high gear reel - 95 cm per wind, bonnies and frigates both love speed, not sure about the gear ratio of your reel mate.
  10. Fg knot gives a result similar to the one above without the need for a bobbin
  11. If you want to keep the line to line connection try using an fg knot - I spent about an hour last week learning it and can now do it about as easily as a double uni. It casts incredibly well
  12. What ledge is that? Looks to be a safe location?
  13. I got to Clifton this morning with my new daiwa morethan combo ?? and christened it with a bonnie - very patchy action unfortunately
  14. I run the 4 strand version of this line in 20lb and love it - it looks about as thin as the 5 lb power pro on my flatty gear
  15. Hey mate what size raider were you running in what colour? Lost a few of my old ones and need to stock up!
  16. Fished rose bay near the seaplane base both mornings just for chopper tailor to about 40 cm... Consistent action starting at 6:30 in the morning til about 8 am. I believe that there may have been kings under the tailor as they were also jumping out of the water as well as the small whitebait/anchovy. I only had bream tackle so it's probably for the best that I didn't connect to something bigger
  17. Caught my first king a week ago - two of us got 14 in one morning including 2 on fly... Can't complain about December!
  18. Freshness is important with your bait - fresh squid and prawns are always more effective than their servo counter parts. Good luck for future trips!

If it's anything to go by I read an article in the paper a while ago that said tetsuya liked to head to circular quay and catch them for a meal
  20. If it's too good to be true it probably is - there are a lot of fakes on ebay especially for power pro... Not too sure about your fluoro though
  21. Sounds like an amazing lb spot...If I can't catch them there dunno if I can catch anything anywhere! Hopefully those fish are in close I'll be doing it on fly tackle
  22. Yeah I live around there - have heard the fish market bream fish well. Also Johnstones canal further around the bay towards rozelle can hold mullet, flatties and bream
  23. It'd be pretty hard to report anything other than surface action if you couldn't report anything else around you.. If there a 5 people at the same location pulling out flatty after flatty that's a pretty hot bite which should be reported!
