Thanks Howsy

That's great.
'The smelly old Cooks' produces the goods.
Don't we have the best playground?
-
Thanks GrandadAs swordy says, look at the picture.
Grandad
I knew it had to be a simple system, I had no directions.
I ended up tying on a hook and using that as a needle to thread it on.
That did some damage and it wouldn't stay put, so I tied a stopper knot including it.

Nice solid fish. Good going.
The bigger ones go hard, it's great fun.
Do you have any tips for keeping them on? I lost 5 for 2
Me and the wind have an understanding, We hate each other.
Haha
-
Nice work on the blackfish and those rubber stoppers have a wire that you thread the mainline through and then pull the stopper onto the mainline
So simple..Thanks Stewy

Headed down to the beaches to search for weed this morning.
I managed to find the good stuff, and thought I'd give narrabeen lake a go.
As the tide was running in the current looked to strong to fish. It must be a high tide spot.
I went back to the same place I fished with Hawkesbass last weekend.
Got the berley going, rigged up and managed to pull the hook on some nice fish,
before landing these two. The biggest went 37cm
The bite stopped around 3:30
PS how do you thread those little rubber float stoppers?
Cheers

Yes unused adrenaline, fight or flight. After effects of the adrenaline from getting excited about the catch
The fight was over, I lost, just beating myself up
-
Thanks Witha,
Almost got it right haha
I love the blades, they worked for me straight away.
This was a knockoff $7 ...it works.
I think in a way you get more from losing a fish like that,
What went wrong , what should I change,...remember the net..
But going fishless doesn't keep me up
-
Probably a Barramundi, released by monks.
I saw that one 4 weeks ago at Tarban Creek.
Get on it Fisherman 6784
Dream is real

Mate I'm happy and strangely, more than if I landed him/ her (most likely )
It's still out there, there are nice fish in the Parramatta.
What gets me is how the loss can have a physical reaction like the shakes.
-
Funny thing is I dont hate it.
Still laughing
Like you said so close yet so far
Its like the adrenaline amped up and didn't get to celebrate.
-
Thanks Adamski.
I usually shrug off a fishless session, losing a big one in process plays mind games.
I still shiver thinking about it.
So close

I worked at a waterfront block in Drummoyne bay today. After work I fished from the pontoon with a few lures.
When I got nothing on the plastics, I changed to a cheapo blade.
After a few retrieves I got a solid hit and was on to something big.
I didn't rush it, let the drag do its job and after a few minutes I had sight of a good flattie, in the 70 cm range.
I had him on the surface, he made a few more dashes and I just let him wear himself out.
I didn't bring a net, so the plan was to lift him onto the pontoon by the 10lb leader.
He saw me coming and made a final dive and got away. The leader wore thru.
After a few nice words, and the thoughts of what could have been, the Shakes hit me.
I started laughing , and as hard as I tried I couldn't tie a knot to rig up again.
It's happen before, always after losing a big one ,especially when I get a look at it.

Nice sambos
After the change of rig did it take the pillie or the lure?
They make good fish cakes. Check out the kitchen section.
-
Bad luck on the kings and flatties.
You definitely 'fed the tribe' with the leatherjackets and squid.
Yum Yum
Well done
-
Hi Sarg
Have you thought about salting your own pillies.
They can last for months in the fridge, not freezer, and be ready to use when the need strikes.
Pool salt is cheapest at large hardware store.

Yeah Paikea
There is so much experience, knowledge and know how.
The members love their fishing, and share the information.
More than one man could learn in a lifetime.
It's a great community.

Hi kiwibrown,
A couple of nice fish. Good one.
Did the leatherjacket take weed?
I felt the same as you, 'I better get into it'.
Love learning new techniques and new options.
Obviously there are many secrets.
You were in the right place, but what about berley?
Sand/weed mix lobbed out infront, brings the fish in, no long cast.
Weed is gold!!!,
I'm going prospecting Saturday morning low tide, to fish the arvo high
-
Well done guys, I to have caught my first blackfish few days ago, 31cm it was. Already wanting more.
Good luck for us for more blackie actions :-D
Huy
Thanks guysI went out this morning and it was horrendous
Bitterly cold and float being blown horizontal
Well done - 2 fish in these conditions is probably 6 under ideal conditions.
Poohbear
Huy, how good is that first one?
I was lucky to be with a gun fisho.
I'm going for my second on Saturday solo.
High tide in the afternoon, I've got the morning to search for weed.
-
For the beach I would target 7 mile just south down The Lakes Way, for tailor etc. Easy access.
The north end of one mile beach Forster, below the big sand dune has big bream on fresh mullet.
-
Excellent.
Winter King surprise.
It's great get your first legal.
-
Thanks mate it was great.
We'll get them next time. I'll get sorted with my gear.
Thanks again.
I accidentally posted on the brag board at first.

I was lucky enough to head out with Hawkesbass this morning for a fish/ tutorial.
We met up around Chiswick, in a little spot out of the howling westerly.
With my limited gear and zero knowledge, he soon got me sorted and it wasn't long before my first down,
And first miss.
Hawkesbass was on to a solid fish shortly after, but lost it on a stick. Then he was on again only to bust off on the lift
A few more misses, a few pulled hooks before I pulled up tight to my first.
Played him out, made the lift and safely deposited him in the keeper net.
1 nil, Haha.
Not to be outdone,Trevor was on again to a nice one, played him out and gently lifted him ashore.
The wind was causing a few problems, so we called it just after high
Mine is the small one.
We visited a couple of other spots for the runout but the wind or crowd made it tough.
Although we only got a couple, in difficult conditions, I was stoked with my first.
I learned a lot, and really appreciate Trevor's help and generosity, for me that's what Fishraider is about.
Cheers
