  1. If you do your home work understand weather charts and are sensible you should have no problems heading out that far, have been out to browns many of times chasing tuna in winter and have had no problems, but must stress have studied the weather charts in great detail and ticked all the boxes and doubled checked everything right up to the last moment.I Know of a 5.6 mt boat that heads out to Heatons ,thats 3 times the distance of the shelf. Boats are not designed to sink or capsize, its the person behind the wheel just like cars are not designed to wrap themselves around telegraph poles
  2. What would you consider to be the right size boat.
  3. Seen plenty of smaller boats out on the shelf and even further
  4. I have mine rigged up with 150lb jinki and have had no problems hooking fish from fin to alby's and even a mako Cheers Silvo - Bentstik

  7. Went out to Heatons on Thursday (about 50 miles out)the wind coming from the west/southwest, was good going out but a little bumpy on the way back in. Found plenty of bait but no Blues or any Yellowfin, thats fishing. Give it another go Monday Cheers Silvo

  9. Westerlies mean its yellowfin time Bring it on
  10. Used to be a member of that club. Trailer permit 2 years ago was 11 dollars then went up to 22 and this year it jumped to 55. You have to be kidding talk about inflation
  11. That is correct, but the way the coastline comes back in as you go up the coast the shelf line does not change giving you greater distance to travel. But if you go south it does the opposite the why the shelf is so close down the south coast eg JB and Bermi
  12. Sorry Stewy but the 100 fathonm line from palmy is about 50ks on my GPS and the 70 fathom line is about 35ks out. Cheers Silvo
  13. What a great report, just lets hope that the right people listen. Cheers
  14. I use 16s as Arman mentioned, rap it around the line 10 times then pass the tag line through both ends of the band and you will be fine, have tested the breaking point and get 5kg when the band breaks, safe for 15kg and plenty of lee way for 24kg. Cheers Silvo- Bentstik
  15. Is it my computer or is the time on all new posts one hour ahead ( still on daylight saving time ) Cheers Silvo - Bentstik

  20. Yes it is open and there is plenty of parking, fish cleaning table and also a wash down area to do the boat just bring your own hose. Cheers Silvo.
  21. Mate nothing is 100%, one day they will be there next day goes quiet but while the bait hangs around you will have a very good chance of hooking a fish or two, up to yesterday boats were hooking up as many as 5. Cheers
  22. Mate get down there now.If you have a boat its going off on marlin, plenty of bait around so you would not have to go out that far. Cheers

    Outriggers

Greg for the lenght of your boat go the 4.5 meter poles. 3 meter poles will be to short, the longer ones will give you a better spread and the lures will sit in clean water. Cheers Silvo.
