  1. great bass mate, i like the measure to the fork on all fish myself, gives a much truer measure. well done, bet it was hard keeping it out of its snags lol.
  2. only fished the fads once and we had it to ourselves, we were trolling past it and catching small mahi on xmas trees. i think when theres lots of people fishing it you jump in line and take turns drifting past and casting (could be wrong) maybe head out and see what they do.
  3. Good feed there but want to point out a small tailor is not bait. Gotta be a legal tailor.
  4. I went with one of the "big names" out of Whittianga. loved it. got a king over 20kg and heaps around the 10-15kg mark, jigging the depths and slow trolling livies around the islands and coastline. (Big one came from just 16mtrs water) not cheap but i guess they get big names through good works. if you want the name let me know and il pm you details. guide went out on his day off to get some crayfish and when we got back from pub there was 2 sitting at our doorstep which was cool. the captain went above and beyond our expectations. (He wants clients to ask for him specifically upon next trip, which we will be doing, so really gives it everything to make the trip)

Bait fishers go mad for IQF pilchards, cant remember why but i know theyre preffered supposedly. Why is it again anyone?

  8. I use kickass 120ah $370 or $660 for 2. i bought 2 for when im away for a few days a a time without power. No issues 3 years so far. ctek chargers are great.
  9. Ive always thought freshwater herring, got them in nepean!
  10. Maybe to the island and fish under a float (heaps of weed and rock in close) just a matter of time until kings move past. havent fished there landbased so dont know if your allowed but would be decent spot i reckon.
  11. It casts these 90 and 120 gram stickbaits awesomely lol.
  12. Saltist and demon bloods from daiwa are ok and have models to suit what your looking for i think. any medium gt rod should be ok, you have plenty to choose from. ive been using gipang 72h with z4500, mainly use on boat but it casts pretty good for a 7'2 rod. rated to 37kg but very light and im not willing to run more than about 6-7kg of drag (which is alot if youve tested drag on scales) through it so for me i like the 4500 reel instead of the 6500 (not willing to put more drag so extra weight of larger reel is a waste) enjoy the tackle hunt mate, its a great part of the journey lol.ee.
  13. Hey Tash, good job, i noticed your using a wire trace line. might pay you to get rid of that and use some fluorocarbon or even monofilament leader for your estuary fishing. bait flows around much more naturally plus its harder to see on a mono/flouro line (Obviously not as strong as wire) but Should get you some more action, gotta get them to eat before you can catch them hehe. not sure what rod, reel and line your using but 6-8lb braid as mainline with 10lb fluoro leader should be fine. If your reel drag is set nicely (not too tight) you should be fine 99 percent of the time. Lee.
  14. Mad king! looks like relatively light gear too! good job.
  15. Lol no doesnt sound like a ray. gunna do your head in for a while lol, welcome to the party! most probably a salmon or kingfish then i reckon. back out this weekend to get your revenge lol.
  16. Cool, good fun days fishing is hard to beat. ahhhh the one that got away lol, welcome to the game lol. salmon, kingfish or ray is my guess. maybe next time, yes therel be a next time lol. enjoy!
  17. Been on the cards for years! Still waiting lol, may or may not happen dont hold your breath. I hope it opens! i heard thats where carp were introduced into the country, not sure if thats correct but if so there would be some biiiiig carp in there. (Prospect)
  18. Hey Rick, i know this is an old post but im looking into all things blackfish at the moment lol, 40metres! farout thats awesome i was hoping for around 10-15 lol. I have only chased them from the boat so far so havent needed to cast yet, gotta learn the technique now, you use the wallis cast or bc swing or something else? Cheers mate. Lee.
