Gday mate, what a catch! so close to the magic metre mark lol. well done letting her go too, the hawks needs all the help it can get, one tip mate, try not to hold them up by the mouth like that, get your hand under her belly to support her weight. i know they van be scary at that size but if your gentle they will be quite calm. also if you can, try using a glove instead of the bogas, try like in pic for photograph too (looks awesome lol)

Few years ago they would’ve been legal, thankfully the size limit has increased and those 30 jewfish can now grow into the big Jew we all seek. its a good thing.

I wouldn’t be too impressed either. Saying that, where there’s one king there’s usually more so maybe the bait you used wasn’t (good) enough on the day. put some freshly caught squid baits down and I’d be surprised if you didn’t get one if they are still there.

Rod tip at water level lure will run deep, lift rod tip 1metre and lure will run 1 metre higher, lift it 2 metres and it will run 2 metres higher. (Approx) hope that makes sense.

For sure Neil I agree, I respect the officers and they do a great job with the resource they have. the problem is they almost may aswell not exist as there’s so few of them, that’s why I think we could help as official volunteers. Not sure on details of how it would work.

So frustrating calling fisheries and having them say, no worries mate it’s been documented. i answer so is someone going to head over to check it out and every time the response is the same. theres no one on duty in that area at the moment lol

I hate seeing people keep undersize or excess fish, really annoys me. ive often though if only fisheries would take on free volunteers. give the people who actually care a bit of power to do something about it. is this a pipe dream or would it be possible? id happily keep an eye out when I’m fishing.

Research berleying up and fish baits very lightly weighted in the trail, you’ll usually hook up when baits just deep enough not to see it.
