  1. The best spot on any given day is the one where the fish are. todays best spot might be crap tomorrow and the worst spot you can think of might be the best lol. these magical spots you seek dont exist mate you gotta start to understand that. Also dont expect to instantly catch a good fish once you do work out the livebaits (especially yakkas) What sort of fish do you want to catch?
  2. Gotta say though there is usually some baitfish around as you can see from ragings reply. how are you trying to catch them?
  3. Buddy they are good spots to catch bait. there is no secret spot you can go to and catch anything whenever you want. your fishing in the wild. fish move, if your not enjoying the hunt then head to the fish markets lol.
  4. Should be some big lows over coming days which will help.
  5. Sweet cheers mate. might head up with some hardbodies before back to work. looks alright!
  6. hi mate, salmon, tailor and kings are always on the move and rarely feed on the bottom so baits and sinkers arent the best approach. id be hitting the same spots youve been getting fish with small metal lures. if you see birds and bustups start winding as soon as it hits the water, if not then let it sink to different depths before retreving. keep moving until you find them. pelagics and landbased is not easy.
  7. Hey would you be able to tell me if this flat is wadeable or is it too deep?
  8. Nice one Rick. you get many big mummas in there often?
  9. That should fly! let us know how she goes!
  10. I need to subscribe too, however i googled al mcglashan catches same kingfish and was able to read the article, strange because when i clicked it again it asked me to subscribe. worth trying if you wanna read it. basically saying the recapture rate for kings has gone up significantly, eg the caught and released a 112cm and the next day it was caught again by ocean hunter boat and re released. there were more examples too including a 120cm which was speared 3 days after catch and release. (What a shame) at least it got to pass on great genes a couple of times! if the guys out there almost everyday are noticing things i think we should be listening. (Not including pro fishers) flatheadluke not sure if your joking or not lol
  11. Awesome man! It works lol! cool vid mate thanks for sharing.
  12. Lol good read mate, those kings will hit whatever structure they see, 99/100 times. 2 rods next time hey lol take the biggest gun you have fishing off a wharf for kings lol. strange spot, wasnt expecting to see a wharf after a looong hike in.
  13. Bizarre, how old is the braid? Might need to remove a lot more bud, depending on how much line you get out on casting. id be trying that and if it's still breaking well away (2 inches) from the knot I'd definitely take it back. shouldnt be able to snap 12lb braid by hand and definitely not 25lb. strange mate.
  14. Marks, sounds like a fault in the braid, try cutting the first few metres off and see if it gets better on fresher line. what lb braid?
  15. i wouldnt. especially bream, if they are of size theyve been there for many years. pelagics are a bit different.
  16. what he said and pay attention to the last part. they dont fail if tied correctly. To add to that lube it up and pull it TIGHT almost breaking point, then trim tag short.
  17. lol how were your loops on that snapper fly lol.
  18. very good, congrats! on surface or dredging? Coromandel?
  19. for casting yes you need jig heads, if your drifting in a boat you can use inline hook with paternoster rig, theres some american rigs too, wacky rig i think is one from memory. just checked and wacky is for lakes without current.

  21. Very interesting, thanks for posting that mate. definately giving me something to think about. so now the only thing fluoro has over mono is that its less visible underwater. (Supposedly due to light not travelling up and down line but only through it) how can we test that out???
