  1. Hey all, was chasing blackfish for the first time yesterday, (great fun) got 4 fish on the stringy weed which i thought was pretty good for first time chasing them. biggest fish was 35cm but got demolished by a much stronger fish that ended up burying me in weedbeds and couldnt get him out on 4lb tippet lol. anyway whilst sitting in the boat alot of brown stringy slimy weed kept floating past, i grabbed some to test out but couldnt pull myself away from the green weed lol. wondering if its a good bait for the blackfish as is much easier to find than greenweed for me lol. thanks and look forward to your repies. love the centrepin reels too!

    $500 Rod?

Hey Niffa, what sort of lures do you plan on using? Also my mate almost bought a samurai rod that was rated as extra fast from memory, when he had it in his hand he wasn't impressed, said it was not fast at all. Something to consider if you can't get one in hand before purchasing.

    $500 Rod?

I know your not having a go lol, just wanted to clarify was just messing around. What you say is true! Hots gipang 72h with saltiga exp6500 didnt come cheap amongst others and snapping a megabass destroyer in half hurt alot and so did the US custom z-axis flyrod come to think of it, oh and also the sage method too which was snapped pulling damn splitshot out from a snag lol (shouldnt of been using shot with a flyrod anyway, what was i thinking lol) Certainly a pleasant experience using nice gear and i say go for it if your willing just dont wreck it haha! serious note i havent bought any light spin sticks for a while so cant really suggest whats good. (Still using my 6-10lb luvias rod which i just love for placcies chasing lizards and stuff, so crisp!)

    $500 Rod?

Ive got an old ugly stick you can have for $500 if thats the requirement you need mate, unbreakable, you can also use it to whack snakes! Lol couldnt resist.
  9. Hi mate, you wanna be matching line to rod ratings. 6lb 10lb 14lb would work well.
  10. Cheers for the info and advice. see how it goes. thanks again.
  11. Hi everyone. Simple question as title suggests im wondering where is the best boatramp to launch into Port Hacking? Quieter the better, is there one at Bundeena? Cheers. Lee.
  12. For poddy mullet, look for backwaters of estuaries, not so much open water wharfs etc. yakkas can pick up from most wharfs in the harbour with a bit of burley to encourage them, then lightly weighted baits on small hooks will tell you if they are around, can pick up slimies like this too and squid can be found around wharfs too, if you have squid jigs give them a go. Better still bugger the live baits and fish lures instead (lure fishing is the game) have fun!
  13. Albright works well for me with some extra wraps.
  14. Hi mate, what sort of gear do you have? weight rod? line weight? (Floating, sinking etc)
  15. Thanks for the read mate, well done! Are they flathead in the pic? Also does the wife have any sisters lol?
  16. Hi mate, the 12lb line "should" be fine. leave the wite traces at home next time, you definately dont need that or the 60lb line. what sort of knots are you using mate? Sounds like that might be your problem.
  17. So so lucky mate, that would've flattened you for sure! count your lucky stars!
  18. From memory jet star length limit is 2.3 metres
  19. maybe head to narrabeen lake, perfect for your estuary lure fishing landbased.
  20. Hi mate, best beach doesnt exist, only the best beach on the day, all the beaches have "fish" so take your pick and try your luck.
  21. wetsuit pants with wading boots would be ideal i reckon, comfortable to walk in and dont need to carry anything.
  22. looking forward to the report mate. as for the trout, they may be your best bet at this time of year, any of your favourite lures upto about about 4 inches can bring them undone (i prefer plastics) weed edges, dropoffs, rockwalls, all the usual spots can have trout working them at any given time so yeah get busy with the casting. finesse is the rule, light spin combo, light braid, light fluoro leader, and alot of casting covering new ground, they could be anywhere at this time of year, down deep, midwater, up top and around the lake margins. interested to see results!
  23. amazingly you might be the first raider to fish it. id never heard of it before.
