  3. G'day raiders Friday night went to Jordan's house again for the intention to hit the hacking but with the pouring rain when we woke up, decided to sleep in a bit longer and fish the lakes for carp Saturday - I lost a countless amount of fish, I don't know what's wrong with me but anyway I caught my first carp on fly! Jordan landed 2 fish, one small and one around 50, then another one of our mates lands a awesome 83cm one! Sunday - hit the lakes again until 12 when I had to go, I started off crap, lost 5 good carp, went in for one but it was only knee deep so it wasn't an issue, I was losing fish after fish all good ones We then changed spots... And my luck completely changed!! Went to the spot where our mate Luke caught his big one, this was a shallow lake and u would stalk the carp eating and chuck bread at them, I hooked up to a monster and on 1-2kg rod and 1000 Stradic c14+ I knew my chances weren't the best with all the weed around but I landed the beast!!!! A new PB Then believe it or not, see another one and very next cast pull this one just a tad smaller Absolutely stoked and definitely made up for my crappy start Jordan then pulled the hooks on one, we moved again and I got a small one, then landed one around 60cm What a day! Can't wait for next sesh Cheers Gianni

  21. G'day raiders I'm up at my beach house at avoca for the holidays and went for a session at terrigal haven yesterday morning, here's how I went... Had a little sleep in (7:30am which is pretty late [emoji4]), and woke up to a bit of rain which wasn't going to stop me so I got the gear ready and got to terrigal haven around 8:30 Started spinning for about 20 mins for nothing so called my mate which is local and he told me the schools come through but not very often so after 1 hour of spinning for nothing I stopped I talked to some spear fisherman and they said there are tons of baitfish around, especially garfish but nothing were chasing them Birds where diving for bait everywhere, just no fish smashing them So decided to walk to the squid spot which was 100m down a little no wave beach (unless there's big swell 3m+, otherwise the waves are very small) I had a 2.5 yamashita jig in a light brown natural colour and first cast, a nice squid which i was stoked with Next cast, on again, and again the next cast, I thought this will be an awesome session. Few casts later on again, then again but this one went zzzzzz zzzzzz zzzzz slowly and new it was a big one Got it in and was 26cm hood, a new pb Kept fishing and lost my jig next cast so walked back to the other rocks and started spinning again for another 30mins for nothing then just decided to go for squid the whole rest of the time I walked back to the squid spot this time with a 2.2 darker brown jig and while walking on the Beach I spotted some broken ground within casting distance so on the way picked up two but one was tiny so let it go Got there and I was only getting smaller ones so changed to a big 3.0 jig and got 4 big squid all over 20cm hood Went back to the rocks where I started spinning which is also a good squid spot and got another big one In total got 15 squid, 9 for a feed and 6 for bait Gear used was my 1-3kg g.loomis and 1000 Stradic c14+ Talked to Seamus and he told me he wanted some for bait so was going to go this morning but woke up to 20knot+ winds and rain so didn't end up going Rain doesn't bother me at all, it's just the wind so hopefully this afternoon will clear up Cheers thefisherman6784
  22. When I was fishing at Walsh bay for yakkas I caught a heap of them to, I got a pic
  23. Ye was that spot U told us, thanks very much mike, we were actually talking about how we should get some tags Hopefully we can get a few
  24. Hey mate As Seamus mentioned I have quite a lot of success off these rocks Everyone might think I'm crazy for using this gear for rock spinning but I use my 1-3kg loomis with a 1000 Stradic c14+ with 8lb leader I mainly use metals ranging 10-20grams off the rocks for spinning and when I really put power in the cast can get around 70m (I have colour change braid) But, I remember u saying that u get more distance than others and that doesn't matter All the fish at the haven chase the yakkas, gars etc etc right in close and I've hooked up right on the edge of that weed bed that comes up I've got Bonnies and frigates there on lures near the bottom, mid water and surface Always vary retrieve and where the lure might be in the water The school is quite easy to see as they come through and smash the bait... CAST!!! And don't stop, when they are in the area, you will get them Or there might be a school of 3 or 4 that stay deep When u see one person hook up, just cast cause they will do a loop through the area and most often hook up There are 3 spots to fish the haven: 1st pocket 2nd pocket And point Everyone will think closer to the point is the best but last time I went there, everyone cleaned up in the first pocket right near the beach so change spots, walk up and down etc etc Hope this helped Good luck Cheers Gianni
  25. Ouch that's gotta hurt What size would be the average Rat schools are normally around the 60cm mark Any bigger fish in amongst them Andrew? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
