  1. Great social again this year! I loved it Lots of laughs and luckily for me and seamus, some good fish We dropped heaps but still managed to boat 4 Unfortunately Seamus could have caught (approx.) the 2nd place hairtail but it had at least 20cm of its tail bitten off, if not more! Compared to others caught it would have been the biggest for us but anyway big thanks to Stewy, Donna, and the mods We'll be back next year for some more action and laughs! 6. Thanks everyone Some very interesting info about bream there Hopefully a jewwie isn't to far away
  7. Thanks mate And that bream is probably around 35-40 years old! They grow around 1cm a year or maybe a bit more but I believe they grow slower as they get bigger so I love seeing these big old fish swim back
  8. G'day raiders On Saturday, I decided to spend the day fishing for Jews with set out baits and plastics So got some mullet and squid from the local store and off I went Got to my spot, set up the rods and start throwing my plastic. Hooked up twice, one felt small like a little flattie, other had a bit more weight but lost both. Then get a message from my mate telling me the Kings are around in numbers smashing bait near by so I continue chucking my plastic to get a really solid hit near the surface to see a rat come out and hit it again but no secure hook up so he swam off. That was it for the next 4 hours so moved down a bit to a spot that might have held other big fish mainly Jews in mind tho. Set out the baits again and see a big boof next to me from a king so grab my little rod with a 3" plastic and cast around the area but nothing Let the plastic sink and pulled up a nice flattie around 50cm and really fat I then go back to sit next to the bait rod which had half a mullet fillet on it and it screamed of them stopped then started again The fish then dropped it for a minute and knowing it was a big tough bait it was probably still there so left it and it comes back with a really solid run so tighten the drag and hook up to a really solid fish It's takes line and has some really serious head shakes. I was getting exited thinking it may have been a Jew but have never caught one so couldn't be 100% Bought him closer, it was big, it was silver, it was... A bream!! And a bloody big one too!!!! I couldn't believe my eyes!! Got him in the net and wow he looked at least 45cm+ but only went 41cm! But not complaining It was probably the fattest bream I will ever see!! Easily around 1.2kg or bigger! This bream looked different tho, I've caught many bream in my life but this one had a nose like a Jewwy, is starting to grow a bump on its head like a snapper and, if painted black would look like a sooty grunter?!?! This bream had a bit of trouble going back but with a lot of help he went back! It was great seeing him go back that's for sure Anyway 2 more takes for the night but no hook up and that was it Cheers Gianni

  11. Thanks mate Did flick a lagoon for about 1hr only for one little bream
  12. G'day raiders Today I got back from a 4 day fishing trip with mates Irvin and Jordan fishing the Central Coast Got there Wednesday night ready for the next morning Thursday morning we hit the rocks with Irvins dad (very experienced rock fisho) in hope of drummer It was very hard going trying for drummer getting picked off by all the little pickers but Jordan caught a nice squid so we used the tentacles as bait and got a few baby drummer I also got a nice leather jacket Then went for some squid for nothing, then got lunch, then my mate came down and we started spinning a bit for a nice tailor while Jordan and Irvin went flicking the beach for a nice flattie and a nice trevally Then we got a yakka spinning which was kept for bait Good end to the first day Next day fished for drummer again only getting more small ones (black and silver drummer) Also got plenty of reefies and rock species Then a few flatties off the beach And Irvin then caught a salmon spinning the rocks which was kept for bait That's about it for that day Then day 3 we went to the entrance in hope of EP's and bream but with a strong wind and ripping current made it really hard so hired a kayak only for one little bream Then went home, got the gear ready and headed off to a jewwie spot I set out a whole butterflied yakka and got a take in about 20mins of fishing A solid take, strike, and come tight to a good fish which takes me into a snag Unfortunately I lost this fish so continued to use slabs of tailor and salmon and got 3 more takes but not proper hook up!! Only pulled hooks and fish in snags unfortunately Called it a night at 8pm Next morning, headed to the rocks again in hope of drummer and spinning for Pelagics I started spinning for one hook up while Irvin was fishing ISO style for drummer We got none so moved spots until we found a good spot but only kept getting either little fish or getting busted off I then went and got a few crabs and first cast, rod loads up and I straitened my hook!! Damn maybe blue grouper So I go and find more crabs, gathered around 20 all up and headed to a good looking ledge Drop one down and see my line moving off quite fast Close my bail, line tightens, feel a little bite then the rod loads I strike into a really good fish and he doesn't give up It didn't stop fighting back even on a 14lb rod, 5000 size reel and 16lb leader I got him up and swung him over the rocks and there it was! My first drummer measuring 40.5cm!! He absolutely smashed the crab which i was quite surprised but not complaining!! Absolutely stoked with this fish! Such an addictive fish to catch Anyway got a few smaller drummer and my first parrot fish which put up a good fight on the ISO rod!! Sorry for the long read guys Hope u enjoyed Cheers Gianni
  13. Thanks guys Yes on plastics Andrew
  14. G'day raiders Bit of a late report but on Monday, me and Jordan (sydney_fisho) headed to a rock spot that produces some nice squid. Got there welcomed with a lot bigger swell than expected but a absolutely beautiful sunrise!! This photo doesn't really do it justice but anyway rigged the rods and for about an hour, nothing except a few big waves coming over close to us (we had a safe spot luckily) So then I went for drummer and pulled 3 little ones and a weird Rock specie We then left to a known big flattie spot of ours and straight away I pull a nice fat one Nothing for about 30mins so headed 5 mins up the road to another spot and after about 10mins, bam, Jordan is on and it's a big fish I run back to the car to grab the net and in the net is a cracker 79cm flattie that looked a lot bigger but can't lie with flathead sizes!! It was a great fish That's about it for the day, not a bad session Cheers Gianni
  15. Thanks guys lets hope so!! Lures used was 4" powerbait minnow and 80mm squidgey fish
  16. Hears my little report guys Headed there Friday after school and pulled a few nice fish on the Jewwy tackle, 2 flatties and a nice tailor Then on Saturday, met up with Adam and Jordan, got a few nice fish including nice bream and flatties Then Jordan got his nice salmon 63cm on a sugapen! Then me and Adam moved on, Adam stopped at a wharf and I kept walking a bit and landed a nice Trev at about 40cm Then the next cast, feel a solid tick, strike and on with some really good weight, big head shakes followed by a decent run and more big headshakes, then the hooks pulled [emoji30] that I think was a Jew but not 100% Then got that good salmon Kept casting for heaps of flatties and a few good ones shredding our line off unfortunately, but moved on and got a few more, then Adam left and I got this nice tailor Then got an interesting by-catch of a nice flounder! Then kept casting away in hope of that dream jewwie, fishing from 6 in the morning till 6 at night, so a long day for me with a jewwie in mind but no jew unfortunately But a nice sunset for the arvo! Then went AGAIN today in the rain with my mate Irvin We got a few nice flatties and whiting on blades I kept flicking away in hope of a Jew but again, no Jewwy Soon my long days of persistence will pay off!! So a very long weeknd for me but a good one to Poor Seamus missed his whole weekend for fishing cause he is very sick Get better soon dude Cheers Gianni
  17. When u pump up, you bring the fish towards you, and if it is a bigger fish, your drag will be set so that when you pump up, your drag might slowly come off By pumping and winding, it avoids reeling straight against the drag, because when u pump up and wind down, the line that is wind onto the reel, that line is not as tight so your not winding against the drag I don't think I have worded that very well but hopefully you get what I mean Cheers Gianni
  18. Simple, short report but quite informative Well done mate, great feed there Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. Wow Adam looks like their starting to move in again! That's not a bad little salmon, they give a great fight Remember that monster I lost in there! It did a very similar thing to yours, jumped so many times But great fish Cheers Gianni
  20. Sounds like a fun, eventful weekend there mate I also caught a frigate spinning the rocks over the long weekend which surprised me But anyway, nice catch, heaps of bait and a nice feed Cheers Gianni
  21. Thanks guys! Well done salmon that's an awesome squid!!
  22. G'day raiders Today, headed down to my squid spot with my mate to see if we couldn't get a few big winter squid! When I got there, my mates dad caught one, my mate caught one and my mates friend caught one! Looking good for the day ahead Then after many casts, I hook "the bottom", then some big lunges and zzzzzz...zzzzzzz...zzzzzz...zzzzzz obviously a big squid Got him to the surface to find out I only had him on the one candle, so backed off the drag and slowly bought him in I finally get a good grip on him, and wow, he was a big boy! He measured 34cm hood length and a full length of 97cm!! Long story short, nothing else for the day, but Stoked with this squid! In the second photo, the jig is next to its eye!! The jig is a 2.2 orange and white glow yamashita Cheers Gianni
  23. G'day raiders Yesterday (6/6/15), Seamus and I headed offshore today in hope of some kingfish action, and that's exactly what we got!! Was out there at 6am, few drops with the jigs for nothing, then some bird activity was spotted with hundreds and thousands of rat kings everywhere! I quickly tie on a 3" powerbait minnow on my 1-3kg loomis and bam first cast pulled a nice king! All fish where very skinny but all fought harder than usual which was fun Then I hooked another, then before we knew it, a double hook up with seamus getting spooled with only less than 10m of line left but after we back up on him, we both landed two nice kings around the 60 mark This was absolute kingy mayhem with kings everywhere around us Seamus had the smart idea to tie a popper on and we had some of the most amazing hits, I even got a picture of a king launching the popper, and it's self out of the water!! Anyway, they went down and began jigging and got a few kings and trevally the size of our jigs! Then moved to a few spots to try our luck on snapper or trag but nothing so headed back to the kings and there they were busting up again For the next hour we caught plenty of nice kings, including seamus catching a 70cm king on a surface popper! Then when they went down, dropped a few plastics and got 2 more Headed back in at 1pm, then went spinning for a bit after seeing some bust ups and I pulled a very nice healthy salmon and to my surprise, a very late season frigate mackerel Then seamus catches a very nice squid What a day!!! A day to never forget with over 20 kings coming aboard! And seamus caught an absolute stonka of a kingy measuring in at just over 30cm!! Cheers Gianni
  24. Awesome fish Ben One to not forget! And great write up two! Great effort landing him at that spot, it's quite deep right at your feet and almost a bit of an undercut Cheers gianni
  25. Thanks jenno64 And I can see what u mean Andrew I'm keen for a blackfish session soon too!!
