  14. G'day raiders Me and two mates have been planning to take the yak out on Sydney harbour cause there from up the coast and are keen on this hot Sydney action but we knew we would be facing a 30knot southerly Met at the ramp in Kirribilli (thanks Andrew) at 6am and headed straight for squid to head to markers but only managed one and then the wind hit a lot earlier than I expected so we found a little protected bay but saw some surface action about 300m away and had to go to it It unfortunately went down but then a tightly packed bait ball surfaced and started getting smashed I landed 3 frigates, my mate cesco landed 2 and andy landed 1 then I hook up BIG TIME!! ZZZZZZZZZZZ wouldn't stop Next thing I know, start see backing, then two seconds later only 5m of backing left! What is this thing!?!? Chased it down and gained line back Cause cesco does rock spinning he thought a long tail tuna but I thought big king or big amberjack After at least 30mins fighting it, it came up. It was huge... It was a salmon! Salmon don't fight like that! But a new PB of 68cm was aboard! A quick photo, measure and release Then again ZZZZZZ I hook another monster salmon at 56cm but very fat We then went into shore to get a pick and release it and sort out a few things. They then moved to far to travel in this 30knot wind so back into the protected bay which wasn't very protected anymore We chucked a few baits and burleyed heaps but only got pinkies Decided to head back to where we launched and after a 30min ride in that weather getting waves over us, we finally made it to the protected bay and pulled heaps of nice bream and got busted off by a few A great day even with that wind but wish we could have chased the bust ups more I sure have my new G.Loomis imx 2-6lb a big day out He was bent to the butt on those salmon Cheers Gianni

  19. Hey guys On Sunday, me, a mate and his mate are all heading out on the harbour on our yaks... But I don't know where to launch! We will be mostly based around the opera house and Cremorne point to Kirribilli so are there any spots I can launch the yak from? It doesn't have to be a fancy ramp or anything Thanks in advance Cheers Gianni
  20. Yeh another awesome trip Almost makes it hard to concentrate for the week at school waiting for the next weekend Can't wait Harbour is packed at the moment Cheers Gianni Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. great squid and haha Andrew, it's definitely possible but we fish for them in a boat on silly string so you either catch them in open water or on markers which you can drive away from It's hard on that gear land based but still possible Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. Thanks Adam Yes kept the amberjack Bream was 37cm and was really fat It's one of those big bream that look way bigger
  23. G'day raider Seamus, his dad and I headed out on the harbour today mainly for kings and chase a few bust ups. We were on the water by 6:30 hoping for a bit of surface kingies. Got out and didn't see a bust up until we pulled up to one of the markers, got no kingies on it so I pulled out my fly rod and straight away caught my first Mac tuna on fly (caught them before, just not on fly) and Seamus got a nice frigate After that we moved to another marker for no success and another for no success so we headed back down the harbour and spotted a bust up near Taronga zoo, stopped for a check and they were kingies mixed in with a few other species I got out the fly but the bust up moved so we moved with it and as I kept the fly behind the boat, a frigate came and smashed it, then a HUGE run followed by him 'swimming' towards me than another huge run the chased it down to get some line back and up comes half a frigate... With a monster easy 1m+ kingy attached to him but let go... Amazing!!!! Then found this monster kingy bust up, only hooked two but busted off both (it was amongst moorings) Moved to another bust up close bye and I finally caught a king 64cm! Then had the bait school take cover at our boat and we all had a shower that's how crazy the fish were. Seamus caught a nice watsons leaping bonito and after a long fight on my ultra light gear, got another kingy 63cm then yet another that took it at the boat at 58cm And Seamus' dad got a nice king 59cm Seamus got a nice salmon and so did I They stopped busting up but we still had everything under our boat and pulled heaps of monster yakkas and cowanyoung. Then on my 1-2kg stick, dropped down my little plastic and on the drop something huge it and after a huge run thought a big king Then after 20 or so mins of fight, a 60cm amberjack is in the net and in the boat!!!!! Awesome fish and I've heard there pretty rare in the harbour and especially at that size so I'm absolutely stoked, they go so much harder than kings for there size. Then after that they died off so we moved back up the harbour to look for more bust ups but none so we went to the fish markets for lunch and a quick fish and I pulled a nice bream Awesome day on the harbour I'd rather catch kings than frigates so today was definitely 1st out of my last 3 outings Cheers Gianni
  24. Sounds awesome Seamus Would of been awesome to see that surface hit too Can't wait to get back down there for another sesh Cheers Gianni
  25. Yeh another awesome sesh Shame about the monster kingy but that's fishing Hope I can make it next weekend Awesome fun those frigates Cheers gianni
