  2. we were on the water about 630 (mate slepped in) first stop was to catch some livies got them prety qiuck just off the breakwall so it was off to the beacon headed out past pig island noticed one of my mates out there trolling around livies he had 2 nice king fish about 80cm so we thought we would give it a crack trolled around for about 30 min not 1 hit so it was off to the beacon started trolling around livies and flicking around plastics not a dolphin fish in sight tried this for about 1 hour still nothing so we decided to troll some skirts to the fad had 2 hits on the way up come some little stripies trolled and drifted around the fad for a couple of hours ended up with 2 little dolphin fish not one hit on the livies pretty quit day out there water was 23degrees ah well thats fishing i guess bloody dolphin fish cheers mik

  7. Yeah bloody water was only 21 down here at least you got a dollie we tryed the beacon and fad off portkembla not 1hit al day maybe next week cheers mik

  10. Yeah there out there we had a few hits from one last saturday off port kembla 1 followed our lure for about 30 mtrs just didnt want to take it hopefully will catch one this year only the second season i have tried to catch one

  13. the kayak was in the water at 700 thought i would go to the eastern side of the bridge and throw some soft plastics around 5th cast nice flatty 37cm comes on board kept throwing around sps for another hour 3 more flattys to 40cm were caught and released so i thought i would try my luck on some bream peddled over to the other side of the bridge with rod in hand trolling got smashed by something (scared the crap out of me first time ive hooked up troling ) what ever it was took about 20mtrs of line and gone ah well proceeded to i likely looking bream spot up along the shore were some branches were hanging in the water so i anchored up and started berlying up with bread not 1 touch in an hour bugger this i thought so back to flatty spot ended up getting 3 more flattys 1 went 50 cm all released to fight another day back at the ramp at 1100 nice morning on the lake dont no if its just me but cant get to many bream out of the lake yet any tips would be gratefully appreciated cheers mik --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  15. bill i think its worth getting flurocarbon i use pioneer invissible but there should be plenty of other brands to choose from just ask your tackle shop he will steer you in the right direction cheers mik
  16. that 92cm one sounds like the go how big were the other ones you got there must be some big ones getting around went down shellharbour ramp yesterday and seen a couple of kingfish frames were someone filited about 1mtr long any pics of ya fish mik
  17. billy what sort of leader are u using and how long is your leader i use a fluro carbon leader that they call invisible its about 15 bucks for 25mtrs but does the trick and for bream i use a leader that is 8 pound and about 1.5mtrs long you can go lighter if they are spooked easy on the day but i generly just use 8 pound mik

  20. gday fellars we stared out from shellharbour ramp about 545 got a dozen liveys just out of the harbour then off we went to the beacon off portkembla to see if there were any dolphin fish about dropped the livey in 1 on the surface and 1 down deep drifted past he beacon not a hit on the liveys so i threw a soft plastic out and zzzzzzzzzz in comes the first little dollie so my brother trys a pillie and straight away zzzzzzzz another little dollie did this for another hour ended up with a few more fish not 1 hit with the liveys so then we started trolling out to the shelf then south had a few screaming runs but no hook ups we watched a marlin atack 1 of our lures for about 20 mtrs he finaly grabbed it and threw the hook basterd but all in all it was a great day on the water heres a photo of some of the dollies cheers mik
  21. mik game fishing reels that are lever drag have a lever which you tighten or loosen the drag with you have freespool,strike and full and you usually set the strike drag 1 3rd of the breaking strain of the line with a set of scales say 24kg you set strike drag at 8kg mik
  22. mik when i am trolling i usualy set the drag about 1 3rd of the strike drag have hookd some big fish and they have stayed hooked say the strike drag is 9kg i set it at 3kg works for me cheers mik
  23. cheers fellars pete i should have a report tommorow mate i am heading out tommorrow to the traps and fad off port to see if any dolphin fish ben mate i heard about this site through akff,a kayak site im on i also have a hobie kayak .what sort of fish do you chase ben and where do you mainly fish pk did alright last year with the reds mainly chase them in winter in the summer months i go out wide chasing pelagics cheers mik
