Hey flattie man, my bait was fairly close to the bottom and he had my squid in hi gob when i reeled him up! As for measurments, ive just removed shell from the bin for an official measurment 21.5cm across ways, 11cm up and down Dan.

Was sensational!! Chilli crab, salt and pepper squid with a kingy fillet and salad!! Good 2 see you still managed to pluck a decent size fish on such a hard day!! sorry to hear about your trailer mate! Dan.

Hi all, Headed out early again this morning for a squid hunt which ended in success with aprox 18 squid in the live well by 6.30am and bumped in to a few raiders at the squid haunt g'day guys ! Now it was time to go out and hunt down some kings, with the wind and the swell not on our side i decided to head into a bit of sheltered water, where there was zip happening!!! So checked out a few other spots incl quarantine which to say the least was a bit hairy with a 3m swell and a 20 knot southerly ripping through there did no favors for my mate who gets sea sick.. ha ha..... he turned green! and was soon after disinbarked at clifton gardens beach, all he asked for was a few squid for his bbq this arvo so bagged up the 4 biggest ones for him and he was on his way! I now headed out with my remaining squid flying solo. zippped over to neilson park where i met up with Dan (Dan & Greg) and Jason (hook'm) as the fishing was fairly quiet enjoyed a beer and a good yarn with a few hook ups and a couple of good runs i managed to boat 2 legal kings! kept one 62cm relesed the other 61cm. A funny thing also happened 1 of these kings was acctualy landed on the downrigger and when i say that i mean it,i was being lazy and didnt want to change my sinker so was using the downrigger to get my bait down! then i hooked up and he rapped himself around the wire! i could feel this through the rod so decided to down the rod and wind up the downrigger i started to get a bit of colour then then i netted 1x king, 1 x downrigger bomb! As we had ample bait left we decided to move on and try 1 more locaton! so here comes the kingy by catch story had our baits down for about half hour with nothing then my litle bait runner just starts slowly peeling off line as i knew it wasn't a king i let it run for a while then i stuck nothing oh hold on a minute i think im still on i said so i start winding it up to the boat supper heavy called it for a monster flattie. Then i started to get colour!!! Not a flattie it looks silver or white!!! What the f#*^ is this thing!! Nothing could prepare me for what was about to come aboard!! Its a massive Blue swimmer crab i couldn't belive it and i actually had hooked it through the leg After that headed around to a few more spots for nothing, Except got dusted at clifton gardens waterever it was took a large live squid and about 100m of line b4 i turned him which was a short fight as it spat the hook ah well thats fishing! Next time! Alll in all a fairly quite day on the king front but a great day out and was good to meet up with some other raiders when i found myself flying solo! Heres my catch i took home! Note: thats a 62cm king gives a bit of an idea of the size of the crab! Dan.

Yeah great quality from the phone eh! its a sony ericsson with 3.2 mega pixel camera and it comes with usb cable to plug it straight in to the computer! New toy! I am trying to load on these other photos but am having a few dramas i am resizing in the normal way i do but but still saying there to big! Hi all, Just thought id post up a few pics from thursdays fishing trip on the harbour, was a fairly quiet day with plenty of squid and not many kings! Managed to land 4 legal kings with the biggest being 65cm. Although we tried out a new spot the sounder was showing up plenty of fish with alot of bigger fish! But nothing could temt them not even a live squid being dragged past there nose by a 7lb bomb Still a day out on the water is always a pleasure here's a few pics taken from my phone! sorry having trouble loading other pics will try another post!

Hey we were next to you at quarantine when you neted that king to funny!! was wondering how u ended up with 2 fish when only 1 of you was on!! we had about the same day as you plenty of squid but not many kings around managed to boat 4 all legal biggest 65cm!! baits getting smashed at quarantine by tailor!!! i think! Mate....... Cutlefish in my opinion are prime baits! i thought the same when i first caught some! wasn't sure if they were any good so i droped a live one down and b4 i even set the rod it was off like a rocket zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz unfortunatly this fish beat me it was unstopable!!!! but caught plenty of kings on strips of cutlefish!!! Don't you hate when u run outa bait it's always when the fish are on the chew!! I think our next investment will be a decent sounder as the one we have at the moment is only good for depth and water temprature!! I wont belive anything else it tells me!! Dan.

Sweet!! I had a live one still in the tank at tunks 1 day sliped him straight in to a resealable bag then straight home into the frezzer! it produced nothing not even pickers! Must of been the day!! Have u ever thought of fitting a bait tank?? Very simple!! we made our one, it cost us about $60 for the whole thing works a treat!! Dan.

Tide weather and moon look good for friday. Might have to give ourselfs a RDO if theres not to much on. How do you find frozen squid that you have caught yourself as bait??? Ive never had much luck seems fresh fresh fresh is the key!! Dan.

G'day Rob, Mate i caught most of my fish with the lighter gear 15lb braid! still using 80lb leader though! mate caught all 5 of his on 80lb braid with 80lb leader i only fish lighter leaders when i cant get squid. As ive been bitten off a few to many times in the past to risk it! As for live or strips, I always start the day by throwing down a live squid if we've got enough to play with that is! then revert to squid heads and strips! I sometimes think a fresh squid head will out fish a live squid seems to happen alot! Depends if theres pickers around! As for sinker weight i normally have a small bean sinker depending on tide etc.. on my main line then a snap swivel with my 80lb rig hooked on to that. Dan.

Hey guys, Thanks for the reply's, yeah was a action packed morning the best was the tripple hook up with my mate wressling in his first king!! hpe to get out mid week this week get away from the crowds!! hopefully Tim and I get to give the downrigger a good work out! as its a bit hard to downrig with 3 in th boat exspecialy when my mates new to kings and he's happy to pull in 60's all day long!! Not that i wouldn't be though, but with the downrigger should give us a chance at hopfully nailing a few bigger ones!! Dan.

Hey all, Sydney harbour was firing again yesterday, Tim and i took out a mate who had never caught a king, we gave him a 90% chance of caching a king. that was soon increased to 100% when we had 18-20 squid in the live well by 6am. Sorry have to be quick but we did get him a king infact he caught 5, i caught 5 and tim caught 7. new boat record!!The day started with a triple hook up Out of the 17 kings boated only 2 were undersize, the rest averaged from 62cm - 68cm not huge but good fun!! We headed back in at about 12 with a king each and a couple of squid! The rest of the kings were realesed!
