  1. Sorry misread your post. Thats great going on landing that fish. Andy Mitchell summed them up, full of bones and you did the right thing and let it go. Congratulations on such a unusual fish and its release. B.F.
  2. Found a half dead Giant Hearing washed up at Patonga many years ago and a mate found one up at Woy Woy in the same condition along time ago also ,both times in winter. Certainly a possibility there Offchops. Shame it got away,
  3. Just before I left for work the other morning ,looking out the back the Sky was certainly a bit different . I grabbed the camera and took this photo. It changed in a couple of minutes and by the time i got inside the color had nearly gone, so it was a matter of being there for those few minutes. Geee I love that time of the day.
  4. Good luck there Nathan, looking foward to a report when you get back.
  5. Blackfish

    A Fairy Tale

Well if you want my opinion.............. I'll just go and ask my wife B.F.
  6. I have seen Amberjack,Sampson and Almaco Jacks caught around Sydney. More of a bycatch than a targeted fish and yes the buggers certainly go. The Sydney Harbour charter operators get a few at certain times.
  7. I recon its a Highfin Amberjack (Amalco Jack) as Rocky picked. http://www.amonline.net.au/fishes/fishfact.../srivoliana.htm B.F.
  8. ARRRRRRRRRR I see no Ships only Hardships AAAAaAARRRRRRRRRRRRR http://www.talklikeapirate.com/piratehome.html
  9. First one is a Male Crimson Banded Wrasse and the second is a Female Crimson Banded Wrasse. http://www.amonline.net.au/fishes/fishfacts/fish/ngymnog.htm B.F
  10. PeterS, next photo could it be a Bream certainly has generated some interest so thanks for the original post. As for Bluefish, they are totally protected now http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/pd...t-159-final.pdf So they can't be Fishraiders next Social . have seen a couple in the water while diving , quite a livid dark blue. Looks like a cross between a large Sweep and a Blackfish except for the rich colour
  11. A Bluefish certainly crossed my mind at first but their tail is a bit more pointy http://www.amonline.net.au/fishes/fishfacts/fish/gcyanea.htm PS I'm led to believe that Bluefish point in Sydney was named after the Bluefish caught there ... few years ago now. I caught a little one at Little Beach up at the Central Coast many years ago fishing for Luderick And the plot thickens
  12. Through great pain and suffering I had to go out and catch a Blackfish and a Drummer today, just to get a photo of their tails to try and solve this "Mystery" I will let the masses decide B.F.
  13. Got a good Blackie today, it had big lips and was full of Roe. Good work on the ones you got today.
  14. Phil try, http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries/recrea...and-size-limits Hope that answers you question. B.F.
  15. Hi guys, just an update. Unfortunatly no joy on the finding of the boat but I was asked to pass on that they are offering a $5000- dollar reward. Thanks for the concern as well.

OR GO B.F.
  17. Certainly hard to say, but Geee... the tail wrist and the tail seems too long for a Drummer also bigger drummer tend to get rounder. I give in,but it's great looking at old photos. B.F. My rough stab............ Blackfish
  18. Great fish on 4, that certainly takes a bit of effort. B.F.
  19. Hey guys please keep your eyes open for a mate's boat that was stolen approximately Thursdays night at Wollongbar ( near Ballina ) northern NSW. It's a 520L Seydel with navy blue hull white top & white wave breaker. The boat is on a Easy Tow trailer & fitted with a 130hp two stoke Yammy. The unusual thing is the wave breaker, no windscreen. This is a serious outside boat. The details are Seydelcraft 520L Boat stolen from Wollongbar NSW on 24 August 2007. 5.20metre blue fiberglass hull runabout. BOAT REGO: AEN416N TRAILER REGO: R-94343 HIN: AUWWA135167CM6 Motor: YAMAHA 6L1 130HP Serial Number:1003398 Any information please contact Michael on 02 66285269 or 0400 367424 or Cassandra on 0438613378 LARGE REWARD OFFERED. To me this is not about the "REWARD" to me but to get a boat back that some scum stole ....... it could happen to anyone else on this site and lets hope everyone pulls together to get a fellow fishers boat back. This one or anyone else's one. Many thanks, Gordon.
  20. I can see them looking back in the distance future and great memories come flooding back, they might even show their kids. Greta photo.

  22. Geat photos there Johno, especially the first photo. Looks lkes everyone is having a good time ......... well ....... maybe not if you were a Roosters suporter. B.F.
  23. Ray we only had servo prawns and the just a few pilchards in the bread , certainly not the best but we scored a feed, had fun and the weather was quite mild this morning.......... for Winter. Cheers.
  24. With the weather being as it has, it was nice to just get out today. The Maltese Falcon and I went up to Palmy hoping for a few Bream. Got a bit lazy on the time and it creeped away.... well maybe I was just out of the swing of things because we finally started to walk down the cliff at ten past seven, bit too late but as they say better late than never. Quickly made up a bit of burley and the first bait went in at 7.30 , couple of minutes later the Falcon had a nice Bream and all I could get were little Drummer, then we started to land and loose a few Trev's which were fun, mind you the Falcon did most of the damage as I kept catching little drummer Ended up with a feed anyway Went down to Long reef to clean our catch as the "Locals" looked on. Topped of a nice little morning. B.F. PS. How good was the Falcons wife, he gave her a ring and she bought down a cup of Tea for us to drink as we cleaned the fish.
  25. Have heard very good good reports on the Fujitsu F30 in its housing for underwater photos and Video. http://flickr.com/cameras/fujifilm/finepix_f30/ http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/fujifilmf30/ http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/fuji/finepix_f30-review/ For the housing http://cameras.pricegrabber.com/underwater...ngs/m/22720929/ As for the 770 http://flickr.com/search/?w=all&q=770S...ater&m=text Try also http://www.dpreview.com/ I've got a old Sony Cybershot and have taken some great photos with that and found the camera outperforms me . I've got a housing with this and some of the underwater stuff i've taken is surprisingly good, there's better Cameras now. Good luck, B.F.
