As for info on bag limits ,tackle stores often have the booklets on Size and Bag Limits or just go to http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries then http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries/recreational Hope this helps and you live in NSW. My Guess..........Eastern Frogfish. Their Tassels dont show out of water as they stick to their skin. Have a look at the last photo on the page. http://www.amonline.net.au/fishes/fishfacts/fish/bdubius.htm PS I thought a fish like this came up before ??
  9. Nice catch ............................... but I think the Crab is a Female

I believe the Original fish in this thread is a Amalco Jack also called a HighFin Amberjack. The other is a ...................... B.F.
  11. Hi there Roberta, I reckon thats a Striped/Banded Scat http://www.amonline.net.au/fishes/fishfact...sh/smultifa.htm You will see the fish in the picture(at amonline) has its Dorsal folded back. Unusual critter, also has poison spines, mind you they look like something to be wary of. B.F.
  12. My first guess was "The One that got away" hence no photo........... sorry there Bananaphobic to much Wine or was that whine....yes dear coming........ I reckon its a Butterfly Perch, have a look at the last photo on the page and you can see the spots better http://www.amonline.net.au/fishes/fishfact...lepidoptera.htm Juveniles don't have the spots. B.F.
  13. Great shots there PeterS, it really captures that time of the day.........Magic stuff. B.F.
  14. Both species are certainly not endangered, but to kill them just to take a photo you could do that in the boat , get a better, more interesting photo and then let them go.......... sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhh as for the idiots down there, suggest contact waterways and let them know, hopefully they will come down. The Bas@$#ts will cry blue murder ,serves them right.
  15. MMMMMMMM, I was thinking the same............NOT. To me ,more like a bit of Redish, Greyish, Blueish pretty sky. Thanks for the info there "Moonset" Thought I'd never say this but, thank goodness I went to work then
  16. Arrr teaching the dark art hey. Best wormers I've seen were the Koori's around Crescent and Hat Head, made me look like a dill, mmmmmmm that didn't take much though. When I was younger used to go on holidays up the coast with my young step brother plus my mate and his 2 kids. Spent many hours chasing worms, with the kids and having a great time in the process. Fun way to spend a few hours. Fond memories. But as Ray R said, geeez you can get burnt if your not careful. Missus ended up with sun stroke once and was really crook for a few days. There's still a few up around your way Ray we chase in Summer, though sometimes they make me go
  17. I dont believe Oyster Toadfish are found in Australia. I'm with Davemmm, its a Eastern Frogfish. B.F.
  18. Try http://www.amonline.net.au/fishes/fishfacts/index.cfm Then in the little "SEARCH THE SITE" window on the Left hand side type in Trevally. A big list of names will come up to give you a indication of some that are found in Oz My votes to on a Silver to... their head gets a good scoop on the bigger ones ,bit like a Black Trevally Caranx lugubris Poey not a Spine foot/Rabbit fish also called a Black trevally. B.F.
  19. Great work there and a great feed there RayR, much respect on letting the Big Flathead go also, great example to others. B.F.
  20. Yeah I'd like to say Go Storm............... Go, Go, Go , just go away Go the Tigers , we's were robbed. B.F.
  21. Great work there catching those fish and taking the Kids fishing. The two common Dominators in those photos of the kids are, 1) Fish. 2) Big smiley faces. Must be a message there.
  22. That sounds like you guys had a great day ,congratulations. Good to see a few fin still floating around.
  23. Great work there Hutcho, sounds like great day to me. As for the line it could have been the different aspects of where the line was floating i.e.. because of the different thickness and properties of the line the bait could have ended up in a different spot or presented the bait in a different spot because you were using floaters......... ,,,,,,,, ....... ........ ........ or he's just a better fisherman than you B.F.
  24. Sorry misread your post. Thats great going on landing that fish. Andy Mitchell summed them up, full of bones and you did the right thing and let it go. Congratulations on such a unusual fish and its release. B.F.
