Not being a big fish eater I find Maori wrasse a fairly average feed. What is that old saying? Cook with a brick, and when the brick gets soft through the Wrasse out and eat the brick. They are generally plentiful, so at least have an entertainment value when fishing.
Yep, nothing like a few fish to regain a feeling of confidence. After a time with no fish I start wondering what I am doing wrong.
When do the environmental flows commence in the Bidgee?
G’day Neil
I had a crack at beach fishing for the first time on Friday even. Sad to say that I didn’t trouble the scorers. It was a beautiful evening though.
The lake has been fishing reasonable well for flatties, although they are mainly 30-38cm. it must be time I went back to the river in the hope of some big girls.
LOL. How long will you have to live with "I told you so"? Hopefully your man flu was no worse when you returned home.
I am very glad to know I am not the only one who can catch nothing. It take a certain skill.
With the rain the worry about black water should ease. You have a lot of structure to put in the memory bank for when the water level returns to normal.
They really look the part with the foil centre, and with the paddle tail should give a realistic flash through the water. I would be interested to give them a try as well.
There is a lot of science regarding fishing to suit moon phases. Although I tend to agree, I fish when it is convenient, not to suit moon phase, barametric pressure, etc. (Gives me a good excus when the fishing has been poor).
I will watch this one with interest.
I have been to the pier mentioned above, but not fished from it, but have always thought it would be good to go back and give it a crack. (We had fish and chips and a beer from the shop at the start of the pier. When they told me the price I thought we were negotiating to buy the shop. LOL.) I did see the sign with all the nasties in the water. What is the reason that the locals use handlines? I would have thought that it would be easier to handle big fish with a decent rod and reel.
