  1. Hitting the Hawkesbury Sunday with #1 son. Haven't seen many reports on the River from fellow Raiders lately, so I'm guessing the fish may be scarce. Oh well, it'll still be good to get out on the water! Ohh yeh, 40th Birthday Sat.!
  2. Hey Netic, there's a problem with that site! I put in my missus phone no., but it located your missus!!!
  3. 20 Years???!!! You don't get that long for armed robbery!!! Seriously though, hearty congratulations!!!
  4. Looks like it's back to the old Fibreglass v Aluminium debate for you Locodave. For my 2 bobs worth, I've got a Bayliner 2050 with a 220hp V8 which I'm very happy with! Comfortable to fish out of, great for the family, good ride, good on fuel and will pull three skiers out of the deep. Would I take it outside? I'm a bit of a woos, so probably not. It might be OK on a good day with a bow cover though. Good luck & happy shopping!
  5. Looks Sccchhhmmmiiikkk! Were you happy with the service in the end?
  6. What sort of dollars do you want to spend Locodave?
  7. Just wondering what the latest is? Is your new motor fitted yet?
  8. Aw, come on Locodave, it's only money! Why not get the new boat and upgrade the Honda to an MDX??!!
  9. G'day Locodave, I've got a Bayliner 2050 (20'6") bowrider which is probably a tad over 1500kg, which I tow with a RAV4, which is legal to 1500kg. You'd want to check the towing capacity of the CRV. If its only 1200kg, then you will be over by the time you add fuel, gear etc.
  10. Was just curious, thanks James. Mine'll do me for now!
  11. PJ caught the Wrasse off Sandy Point and the Grinner off Corlette Point (near the Anchorage). Got another Grinner there about a year ago also! Can you tell me any more about your mates Bayliner 2250? (I've got a 2050). Mine is the only one I,ve seen with a bait station on the back!
  12. I read this today on my desk calendar, and being a parent, it really sunk home! So I thought I'd share it with you and maybe get some of your thoughts?! "One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in my bank account, or what my clothes looked like. But one hundred years from now, the world may be a little better because I was important in the life of a child". - Anonymous

    Dumb Things

Hey Spic, ever lived in NZ? I think Roberta might be talking about you in post #65.
  14. I think we've solved all the mysteries now haven't we? By the way, I like the sound of "very small Cobia" better than "Grinner"!
  15. That's it! Thanks Dropshot & CFD. How big do they grow?
  16. Is that the scientific name!!!???
  17. G'day Raiders, Got a couple of mystery ones. You can find them here.
  18. G'day Raiders, I was lucky enough to spend last weekend at Port Stephens with the and kids (no, not for the comp!). Took #1 son (PJ) out in the bay both days. Got plenty of juvenile Snapper, with the best being about legal size. Threw it back though because basically I don't like eating fish (shock horror!). So for me, it's not the size that matters (now there's another topic!). It's just about getting out on the water with the family. (Took the , PJ and 1 year old daughter Sammy around the bay for a look also). PJ loves all things Fishy, so you should of seen his face when he pulled up a small Occy, which let go on the surface. He also caught a small Wrasse'y looking thing. Maybe someone could give me a more accurate ID (will post in Aquarium also). The other interesting capture by PJ was about 40cm long, which could best be described as looking a bit like a very small Cobia! (no pics as it bit itself off as we tried to boat it). It was long and slender like a pike or longtom, generally silver with scales & browny stripes and a very wide mouth with lots of small but sharp teeth (no, wasn't a Hairtail). I'd love to hear from anybody who knows what it might be, or who has caught something similar in the bay. All in all, a great weekend and we managed to avid getting swamped by all the game boats!

    Boat Storage

Locodave, There's a place called Neale's Boat Storage at Berrilee, which is about 5 minutes up the road from the Berowra Waters ramp. Don't know how much, or the phone number. Try the white pages!

    Dumb Things

For me, the saddest thing about this thread is that it makes me wish I'd done MORE dumb things, so that I can share them with you all!!!
  22. Me and the & kids are off to Port Stephens this weekend. No, we're not gonna be chasing Marlin (unfortunately). Just taking the chance to have a weekend away whilst we can. Hopefully #1 Son & I will get to have a fish in the bay though. Have a happy & safe one Raiders!
