They were only small around 35-40. If I had my big reel I would have thrown one back out. The school of bonito kept drifting through. There were a few tailor around until a school of dolphins chased them through. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk

Hey guys finally was able to get out and do some spinning this morning northern beaches area. Sorry no photos this time. Day started well with the first cast landing me a small but legal kingie. Was funny he did not run much. Actually thought it was snagged until it started pulling. Then spent the next two hours playing with bonito of all sizes. While it worked out ok with 4 take homes at one stage I hooked and dropped 9 bonito it 5 minutes, same thing happened with that lure last time I went out time to update the treble i reckon. Anyway good fun and will make some great sushi tonight. Was starting to get pretty hot so I said to myself one last cast and bugger me dead a kingie hits the lure just near the surface I even saw the flash of yellow. Well this fella just went ballistic and I thought great another keeper. He ran all over the place and finally he came to the surface and my head was running a million miles an hour as it was heading towards low tide and it was a fair lift it out the water. So I waited for the next wave and have him a good heave and he just popped out. Took a measure and he was under by about 3cm. So back he went. Overall was great to get back out and have a fish. Best part was that I had some great fun with the guys that were there. We all looked out for each other and shared the space and helped each out when we needed help. They say a problem shared is a problem halved. Well thanks mate but I ain't paying $2500. Mate I am a routine freak. My story on this. I did plumbing as work experience, put the ladder on the car was distracted. The boss came back 20 minutes later and nearly killed me I forgot to tie it on. Me I started in the fresh and loved the peace and quiet up Bush in the small rivers. Then I met the sea. Love that smell the sound the challenge and the not knowing what I am going to get. While you can try and target and it is a great buzz when you get what you want that buzz when you pull something out you have not seen before. Great photos mate. I am an ocean man myslf but spent a lot of time around the inland rivers when young fishing to far too the Beach on my bike. I use the Daiwa Saltist 4500h. 6.2 Ratio so 120 cm per turn. 10kg drag but better if you upgrade to the carbon drag washers. This baby flies. Good price on special $230 holds heaps of 30lb. Other reel is a Stradic FJ 5000 also goes hard. Much lighter than the Saltist. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk

Only advise I can offer is that I have a Saltist 4500 and upgraded by changing to carbon washers. I used Cal's grease add it was recommended. Now super smooth. Check it out on You Tube. Sorry if I am not allowed to mention that. .. Stripping down and cleaning is pretty easy but watch that holder spring ping..... I agree use a light oil for small reels, singer oil or reel oil is okay. They do the same job. Just watch how it comes apart and put back the same way. Hi Raiders really needed a fish on Saturday and had promised No2 son that I would take him out. So we headed for the Harbour in the afternoon just in time due the high tide. Did all the setup and after an hour of trying anything I had a small flathead to show. No 2 had eaten all the food so was getting a little cagey. Anyway I had been keeping an eye on a flock of birds that were drifting back and forth. Finally they came in range so decided to throw a 15gm spinner at them on 5lb line. Had about 5 casts and then I got hit pretty hard. As I did not know what it was I decided to run it a bit. Was not running a lot and was not jumping so picked probably tailor and I picked right. Out came a nice tailor at 51cm. So helped setup my son's rod so he could have a cast or two. After spending most of my time untangling I said to him that I would cast and he could wind in. Anyway before the school moved on we had lots of hits and he landed two fish both around the 30 cm range. The look on his face was great to see he loved that feeling of the hit and considering this was his first fish on spinning I was really proud of him.
