  3. If i rode the wind and current, I would've been out to bundeena within 5 minutes from lilli pilli haahahah
  4. winds crushed my day... so nothing to report from lilli pilli :'( did see some big flatties and whiting swimming around on the sand flats before the current and wind swept me away

  10. Alright plan is a go! Keen as, rain doesn't bother me either. TBH i like fishing in the rain, I get more fish LOL but its the wind that I hate :'(. Regardless sunday is a go!
  11. pls no... Let's hope the Sydney weather flips on its head and gives us some sun... IF the weather is crap, we will reschedule
  12. Looks like a toadfish/flatty crossbreed LOL, name it the toadhead
  13. Sounds good, I'm gonna need a teacher to put me onto livies and squid Once I get the biochemistry and physiology exams out of the way, it's time to study fishing hehe
  14. dayum im gonna have a good workout keeping up with you fellas hahahaha, yep let's do yowie's. Check up updated plan above Witha's post
  15. That's a fair point Nursie, I do love a good workout but all I want after a long day of paddling is a nice cold beer hahaha. I've never launched from yowies before so I'm keen to give that a try. Updated details: 22/11 Launch: ~6am at Yowie's boat ramp Return: ~3pm Testing the waters at either: - Gymea baths - Lilli Pilli - SWA - NWA We can decide as a group on the day Targets: - First squid - First kingy - Anything inbetween Goals: - Testing out the new sounder - relaxing - Finding bait grounds Any other yakkers who are keen can also come Always happy to make new friends.
  16. minor update: I've heard that you can launch from the scout's boat ramp at lilli pilli, can anyone confirm this? If we can, and we get there early enough, we have free parking covered by the trees so its nice and shady too
  17. I had about half a litre of water in mine after a 2 hour trip in choppy water, lots of boats putting water into the yak. Trying to figure out where the water is coming in but i do think its the hatches. Planning to silicone the edges after exams and will let you know how that goes. Its not too bad though, just make sure everything is in a dry bag loving it thus far!!
  18. Thanks for the update Nursie, it'll be sweet to finally meet you in person and check out your sweet yak mods I was planning on trying the deep water off Lilli pilli originally as I've been eyeing it from the baths for a very long time, and have heard gymea may be productive but never had luck there landbased, but who knows :'( I'll aim to finalise a meet up point mid next week and get back to you guys
  19. The more the merrier, especially if we have an experienced leader Keen to learn the waterway and get onto my first king ahahaah. Let's see if a couple more want to come as well then decide on location
  20. Woo, mini raider meet Let's call a set location to launch from. Where are you guys happy to launch from?
  21. With the way sydney weather works, I wouldn't be surprised if we had a hailstorm then 40 degree temperatures within the space of an hour. I'd say head outside look up at the clouds, head out and enjoy yourself till the weather starts looking crap
  22. Hi Raiders, I'll finally be done with exams next saturday (21/11) and will be heading down to the hacking for a yak on the 22nd. I'm looking for a partner that is keen to go for a paddle in search for my first kingy hehe. Not sure where all the livies etc live out in the hacking so it'll basically be a recon mission for me. The plan will be to get out around sunrise and get back around arvo, although if you want to head back earlier, that's cool too. I just need a day to mellow out after exams hahahah so I may stay on the water for longer. I'm starting a lifestyle vlog to entertain myself during the holidays so I hope you don't mind being filmed. Here's an overview of my plan: 22/11 Launch: ~6am (Either wally's or yowie) Return: ~3pm Testing the waters at either: - Gymea baths - Lilli Pilli - SWA depending on launch spot Targets: - First squid - First kingy - Anything inbetween Goals: - Testing out the new sounder - relaxing - Finding bait grounds
  23. Whenever I pick up an undersized snapper that has swallowed the hook, I try to get it out only if there are fish eating birds around, if not then it get a snip near the hook and off they go. If they live, they swim off cheerfully, if they don't then the nearby birds get a quick feed.
  24. People have been sneaking on the new jetty to sunbake... and sometimes fish when the council workers pop off. Progress seems to be slow but the jetty is looking great compared to what use to be there hahaha. Can't wait to have it back up. Don't know its completion date either but it's one of my fave spots.
