    E10 Fuel

Cheers for all the suggestions all extremely helpful! I'm going to get a few litres of fresh 98 and drain the fuel line. I'll see if that alone gets it to start. If not, I'll give I'll try a bit of start ya bastard and give the carby a little spray. If that doesn't work, back to the mechanic . Shame really since when I conked out there was a school of salmon about 50m away that were going off for at least 30 mins and I was too far away The motor is a 70 Yamaha electric start injected oil Also I only ever use 95 however last time I took it out, I was in the central coast and the only fuel there was e10 as they ran out of the others so I just had to use it. Will let you know how I go. Cheers

    E10 Fuel

Hi, I went out yesterday for the first time since my motor got serviced 3 weeks ago. It took a litte while to start and once did cut out a few times, however this was a cold start and it was last started during the service so I was not too worried. Once warmed up, the boat went well at high revs and was driving fine. However once I dropped down to idle the revs slowly started to drop and then the motor stalled. This was a bit worrying but the motor started up fine, and once I got up too speed and higher revs the motor went well, but again every time I went to idle it cut out. In the end, on the way home, it cut out and was unable to be restarted so I had to get a tow home. Now, since the motor just got serviced I think it might be the e10 I used in the motor (which is a 2 stroke 70hp yamaha - Yr 2000), as around 7l had been sitting in the tank for around 2 months. So when I was driving yesterday the fuel would of been 7l of 2 month old e10 and 15l of brand new 95. The spark plugs are not fouled and I've tried different fuel lines. I'm scared I may of destroyed the carby. Any idea on what to do? Thanks a lot, Will
  3. Went out yesterday, They are back!!! A lot of small schools all around the harbour. Unfortunately, as usual, the biggest schools sit in the no-stopping zone around the harbour bridge. Cheers
  4. nice report mate. Are these in state forests down their or private property?
  5. +1, for my yamaha 70 2 stroke i just use the flip down locks. Seems to work fine (even on an old fiberglass transom)
  6. I was under the impression huge schools (100m+ long) turn up throughout Spring....
  7. Hey Guys, got the boat all serviced and gear all set up out to go out for my first serious fish since the start of winter. Just wondering if any schools of salmon are starting to pop up yet or any signs of kings in the harbour? I know its probably a little early, but I still want to get out there and give it a go. Any info would be much appreciated. Cheers
  8. Cheers guys. I went out on Sunday around the sand bank near paddys channel, the rock wall at the train tracks, around some oyster leases and some other places for nothing. I think the water was pretty cool on Sunday dropping a few degrees from the week which might of played a part. Not sure how I feel about BW as compared to sydney there is a lot of weed on the bottom thus 9/10 retrieves would end up with some weed hanging off the grub. Might have to give it another go in the summer. Cheers.
  9. Yeah maybe try a boat hire place (boab or ozboathire) as there are many LBG on this that would love to take a boat out one time.
  10. Thanks a lot,Are you taking about the rock wall near the entrance? Will
  11. Hey guys, I've towed the boat down to our beach house in Brisbane waters for the first time and was wondering if anyone had any starting spots for bream and flatties? I've never fished here before. All fish will be c and r. Cheers, Will
  12. Wow thanks for that offer mate but thankfully I got them out. Cheers for all the other tips as well. Once I got them out I realised they didn't have any silicone and were rather just screwed in, however they were screwed in very tight making them hard to get out with a hand screwdriver. Thanks
  13. I just got these screws removed. I gave up on using a hand screwdriver and got out our corded power drill. With low speed I pressed down hard and unscrewed. I was able to get them all out. The use of a Dremel, being able to cut slots into screws, is extremely helpful in removing any stripped screws.
  14. Hi, So I need to change over my anchor light as the current one has broken however the screws that are currently being used to hold down the current/broken light are rusted so one turn with the screwdriver has stripped them. I've tried to Dremel a line across the screws and unscrew them with a slot head driver but that hasn't worked and I'm scared I'm about to break the whole head off. The screws seem to have a sealant on the other side as well. Any help on how to get these off would be great. Thanks P.S its on a fibreglass boat
  15. id say a symetre 4000 spooled with 15lb
  16. Have a look here, on where to spike the flatty http://www.ikijime.com/fish/flathead-dusky/?adv=0#Estuary%7CFlatheads%7CFlathead%20-%20Dusky
  17. Today I bought a storm adajo that is made for slow pitch jigging which is really what I'm looking at. Going to use it with 80 and 100g slow pitch jigs. I'm using my Stradic 4000 fk with 20lb depth line. I'll let you guys know how it goes. Hopeing it'll work well around some wrecks and the artificial and hopefully a drift out a longy etc.
  18. Ahh cheers for the info, Whats your action for them? Just cast it out let them sink down and then just quickly jigging them moving the rod up and down? Cheers, Will
  19. Edit: Just realised your running a 4 stroke.
  20. Just found out about 6" squidgie 'flick baits' how do they go?
  21. I forgot about soft vibes. Heard they are good for jew's but never heard anyone using them for kings. Anyone have some experience with them?
  22. Hey, So I'm looking at adding some new plastics to my collection for Kings as I think the Z-man Shadz are crap. No matter how I rig them I just cant get them to swim straight and stop spinning when I jig it. My only other plastic for kings are 4" powerbait minnow's however they really aren't made for jig heads bigger then 1/4oz so it takes a long time to sink and when there is a lot of wind and current/chop around the harbour markers it isnt that fun waiting a lot of time for them to sink and constantly readjusting to the boat too stop drifting so far. I'm wondering if any people use plastics that have their own action such as curly or paddle tail's and are having good success with kings? If you do, do you just roll it in or still put action into it. Cheers, Will
  23. Went out for a quick 3 hour fish this morning and thought I'd give an update on the water quality. Launching from Drummoyne there is a heap of rubbish at the ramp so. The water is still dirty around there with a lot of floating rubbish. Big issue is there is a ton of branches and logs in the water at the moment. Managed to dodge most of them but I had at least 1 big hit when I looked away for a second. No damage thankfully. Water clears up a bit around the harbour bridge and cockatoo island but stays a little murky all the way up to shark island however there is less rubbish and logs between these points. Water is extremely dirty in middle harbour with a lot logs and branches. Tried to go for a fishing but didn't think it was worth it so turned around. Fishing from Manly to shark island is pretty good and I picked up (c and r) a ton of flatties. Didn't see any bust ups the whole day and had no luck with squid so didn't bother for kings. Cheers, Will
  24. How long do you guys think it will take to clear out of the harbour from the east of the bridge? Cheers
