  7. Hey, A while back a couple years ago there were a number of fisheries volunteers that would survey our catch when we would come back to the boat ramp after a days fishing in the hacking. They told me that they were undertaking the survey to establish how healthy the systems were and to get an understanding as to how good the general fishing experience was. The guy who was doing the survey at yowie boat ramp was a nice guy and he was there pretty much every weekend for a year. Anyway i was always interested in what the results of the survey was, and i have come past the final report issued from the DPI for this survey. Its a good read if you are interested in whats being caught in your local fishery... http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0019/402139/WF_2011_Output-1856_Steffe-and-Murphy_Greater-Sydney-Recreational-Fishing_REPORT.pdf Thanks Anthony

    Bate Bay

good session there yowie... any luck within the river lately? whats the water temp like?
  9. im always seeing fish with what look like skin diseases, though its typically in Aussie salmon caught in the hacking. This is one i caught last year with some pretty bad leisions though they are not usually this bad. I typically check over the fish to make sure there is nothing wrong with them before they go in th keepers net.
  10. I have always wanted to eat some of my catch as sashimi, but how do you guys look after your catch to make sure it is safe to eat raw? I typically put my fish staight onto an ice slurry though even then i am cautious about eating it raw. Thanks Anthony
  11. been a long time labour voter but never again. Tony Abbott has my vote. Getting rid of the carbon tax will be the best thing that will happen to this country.
  12. thanks for the update mate and im impressed with your dedication. i tried squidding of gunnamatta bay baths a week ago and gave up after an hour. looks a bit slow out there
  13. great work mate... cant wait to take my little one fishing.
  14. hey Jim Bream, thanks for the list of baits. I have seen your posts and the amount of bream you land you must be onto something mate.
  15. I always use albright knot after losing too many good fish using the double uni knot. I always tie the knot before i go out and put the knot through a bit of a stress test to make sure that it isnt slipping. Make sure you wet the knot with some before you pull it tight. This helps.
  16. hey yowie, great session mate.... are you burleying as well in your fishing session? thanks Anthony
  17. solid session mate.... going to have to try my local beach for some whiting.
  18. solid session there mate. Well done
  19. solid fish mate.... I was out yesterday (Sunday) afternoon as well and was struggling to get my bait past the little tailor that were everywhere. Got into a couple of large salmon that were fun but that was about it. Water was bloody cold (16 degrees) so it is having an effect on the system.

thanks for the recipe brickman. When you take a couple of the frozen berleys with you do you have trouble keeping the spare frozen on the boat? i tried freezing berley a couple of times by they thawed out too quickly. Any tricks? thanks Anthony
  21. yowie well done! if i had landed that jewie i would have packed up for the day. I guess if you are going to catch only 2 fish it might as well be a good one.
