  1. Didnt get a chance to do any drifting yowie?
  2. good session there yowie... you should just stick to fishing off your pontoon mate, you always seem to get into the big fish there! Quick question for you, when you drift for whiting over the flats, does your rig get fouled up in the weed? when i have tried that technique using a running sinker rig, the weed gets all over my rig. thanks Anthony
  3. Had a fish this morning starting at 6. It was pretty slow on the river though we did take 3 good size bream home, between 32 and 36cm. there were alot of little tailor around which were fun catching on metal lures. it was good to be onthe water though the fishing should have been better.... didnt catch any trevally though which i thought would have been around.
  4. thanks for the report mate. hitting the water early st morning so i hope to get into a few myself.
  5. a sprangled emperor? i thought they were typically a tropic fish. Great to see you have caught one down here
  6. mate i use either the 65mm or 80mm paddletails of the beach at ramsgate. I find if you concentrate around the roynes you will find the flatties are hanging around there. With plastics its a matter of casting into a spot a number of times and moving down the beach until you find them.
  7. great report mate.... keep the photos coming in your future reports.
  8. monster bream there mate!!! well done...
  9. thanks for the update mate... was hoping to hit the water on the weekend.
  10. solid session mate. The travally are always good for bulking up a catch. And once you get them going in the berley trail you can bag out. Thanks for the detailed report.
  11. thats why the best fishing in the hacking occurs in late march / april. The water is still warm enough to hold fish but the weather is too cold for jet skiers...
  12. solid session of the beach mate well done. Cronulla is good fishing if you can get around the surfers.
  13. Yowie, Do you have a photo of the jewie to share mate?
  14. great report mate... fishing the hacking is one my favourite pass times
  15. Hey jenno, Out of interest what size hook do you use in the wide gap? Do the poddies struggle to survive with the weight of the hook? thanks
  16. I think you can fish at lake Gillwarna, though there are signs that say no eating of the fish from the lake. If you want to fish dont fish in the main lake with all the IBISs, go to the lake adjacent to the old reception hall further up. Less people there and heaps of fish.
  17. mate try fishing off the beach instead of the groynes. Head towards ramsgate where the water appears to be a bit deep at the shore than up at brighton way. If you have the time try to fish near the high tide and close to dusk. Also put some berley out (breadcrumbs with tuna oil) and use nippers on size 6 long shank in a running sinker rig. When you cast your bait out, slowly move the bait across the sand by doing one turn of the reel every 10 seconds or so. The whiting tend to be keener on hitting moving baits. Good luck with it.
  18. I was up in forster during the christmas break and i was impressed when for the first time since i have been fishing a fisheries office came up to us, asked us for our fishing liscences and checked our catches. When i mentioned that there was alot of undersized whiting being caughtnear the main bridge, she told me that they had done a check in the morning and were doing another chekc of the area later in the evening. Gotta to give them the thumbs up for being out there and making checks.
  19. yowie, even on a quiet day you do alright mate.
  20. mate if you are going to fish the hacking get out early. I find that you get the majority of your fishing from dawn to about 9am. After taht you will just be soaking baits. Also make sure you anchor up and get a solid berley trail going and float your baits in the trail, and go as light a sinker as you can. good luck with it.
  21. cleaned up mate... dont you hate when you have top leave when the fish are still on...
  22. i have 60 hp on a fibreglass 15 footer and it planes nicely. If it is aluminium, it should plane at 35 / 40 hp
  23. solid fish mate.... pretty good session.
