    BOAT RAMPS

During the summer at yowie bay boat ramp there is always a long line of trailers lined up to get their boats out of the water or to drop ones in. You just line up and wait your turn. Simple as that. I like to think that most people use common courtesy at the boat ramp.
  2. 46cm whiting would have been a monster! Caught a 41cm whiting off the beach and it was tearing line of my reel. It would have put up a great fight.
  3. hey guys thanks for the tips on finding the squid. Question for you in relation to the weedbeds, will the squid live in real thick weed beds or do they only live in weedy areas broken up with sandy patches? Would the thick weedy areas at the entrance to SW arm hold squid or is this too much? Thanks Anthony
  4. it seens at this time of year yowie every jet skier and wakeboarder is on the water. The best times to fish now is when it is overcast and threatening to rain. you will have the place to yourself.
  5. Thanks for that gazza. I know the one you are talking about. I'll take that number to the dealer. Thanks
  6. Hey guys, i am wondering if you can help me out on this one.I have a Mercury 60hp 2 stroke engine (1991 model) and i need a few parts changed on it, though i have not been able to locate the model number on the engine. According to the Mercury website, the model number is located on the transom bracket, though i have looked all over it and cant find the number anywhere. For the type of engine i have there are 2 different models so i need to get the right one. Can anyone let me know where i can find the model number, and whether if i take the boat to a dealer they should be able to figure it out for me? Thanks Anthony
  7. could it be that we havent had a serious dump of rain for a while now and the water is a bit too clear for the fish?
  8. mate has your reel siezed up yet?
  9. great whiting there mate. well done
  10. I was there 2 weeks ago, fished of the beach in the early morning on the run out tide for 10 good sized whiting in 2 hours. Was fishing at the beach at huskisson. The whiting are there though you need to use fresh bait.
  11. Solid session yowie. you have it all figured out...
  12. thanks for the replies guys..... I will be looking at chasing the whiting on the beach more often now knowing that there are whiting that size out there
  13. Hey guys, Decided for a change to fish of the beach at brighton sunday morning instead of taking out the boat. Pumped some nippers on saturday afternoon and hit the sand at 5am. It was low tide with the tide was running in and there was minimal swell on the beach. In a space of 4 hours, landed 2 monster whiting, a flattie and a trevally. Lost another good sized whiting as well. The bites went off at about 8am. The whiting seemed to come in waves with the whiting being hooked up in close succession though they we sitting deep off the beach. Thanks Anthony
  14. Mustard bait holders 92447 in the size 1 (or the 9555B if you cant get the other ones). The only hook i use in the estuaries.
  15. mate kyeemagh has 2 bait shops pretty close together and they are located on the way to the boat ramp. you should try there.
  16. thanks for the report mate. Its good to know whats happening off the beach at the bay. Though you need to contend with all the swimmers and the kite surfers when trying to fish during the day.
  17. absolutely solid flattie there mate.
  18. Thanks guys, Yeah the fishing is pretty difficult in the hacking if it is a clear sunny day on the water. I find that as soon as the sun hits the water you are better off fishing the shadows - under boats, pontoons etc especially in the deeper water. If it is a cloudly day with a bit of a breeze breaking the surface of the water, combined with a high tide then it is staight to fishing off the flats for bream. In particular the flats at lilli pilli. good luck.
  19. Hey guys, After six long months of not fishing finally got a pass out from the misses and hit the hacking early with a bunch of mates. After launching off from Yowie Bay early headed up to grays point looking to target a few bream.Unfortunately our baits kept being fouled up by brown weed, though we were still able to catch a 33cm bream, a good size trevally and a salmon. After getting tired of all the weed we moved over to the moored boats to try our luck. It just so happended that a school of tailor where sitting beneath these boats, and within a space of 10 minutes landed a 40cm and a 50cm tailor. As we were fishing with light bream rigs, we constantly being bitten off by the tailor once we hooked them up. By the time we upped our leaders and tried again for them the tailor had moved on and the salmon came in. We landed 4 salmon and lost the same number at the boat in a space of an hour. Once the bite when cold we tried a few other spots including great teriell bay and gymea bay for zip and called it a day. All in all a bit of fun and it was good to get out there and catch a few. All fish were caught on WA pillies and the water temp was about 17 degrees. Thanks Anthony
