  1. I have some Halco Scorpion and Manns Stretch 10's but to be honest my best lure to troll for Flathead is a Jackall Chubby Deep. They really seem to like them. Have had plenty of good fish take a trolled Ecogear SX-40 and SX-48. Just use a decent leader because those lures can sometimes get inhaled due to the small size but they definitely catch some BIG fish on the troll.
  2. Thanks. Mine is cracked I need to find a replacement somewhere.
  3. If you can see them that easily it means they aren't afraid to be seen. That means they just aren't in the mood to feed. Happens from time to time.
  4. Opening up a motor is always a desperation move unless absolutely warranted. I agree with your dealer.
  5. Hi All, So I just purchased a new Tohatsu 18hp outboard and my faithful little 9.9hp needs a new part before I decide whether to keep as a spare down at our holiday house or sell it. Can somebody please identify the bracket in the photograph below? It is a cresent shaped bracket the supports the lower part of the shaft and looks to have a rubber insert on the inside to help reduce vibration. The bracket has a crack in it so I would like to change it. This motor is absolutely amazing so my hope is to get a replacement part and keep it for a spare or put it on a small tinny and leave it down at the holiday house for the family and guests.
  6. I reckon this rain will get the fish on the bite in the rivers. Bit of dirty water and a dash of fresh will fire up the upper reaches of the rivers. Get out your rattling hardbodys and vibes/blades and enjoy the weekend!
  7. Zman grubz are the bomb. They really are super effective. I find the 2" is more versatile than the 2.5" due to the slimmer body and plus they go on a size 2 hook perfectly. Everything will eat them. I also use the slim swims in 2.5" all the time, which are also highly effective. They also work well when rigged on a beetle spin. I caught plenty of bass recently using that setup with a 1/8oz jighead on the beetle spin. Squidgy wrigglers in 80mm bloodworm slay the bream and most other estuary species and the 100mm bloodworm is my go to soft plastic for EP's and Flathead. Don't discount using hardbodys in the mix too, they definitely have plenty of applications when soft plastics won't deliver the goods, especially when chasing natives.
  8. The telltale will always run cold if cold water is going in. Desn't most of the cooling water get expelled via the exhaust and through the prop? That water should be warmer.
  9. Looks like a Haines.
  10. Could have been whacked by a big jewie or something and was stunned.
  11. Use the Headlockz they work on all plastics and the lure never slides down.
  12. I sent in a registration email but nothing came back so I am making other plans. If they hurry up I'll change my plans back and do the bass Catch.
  13. Ears are the best, they force the crap out under higher pressure. In a barrel all you are doing is recycling the dirty water you just flushed out back through the system again.
  14. It's not ideal. Use a worm hook with a small ball sinker running down to the jighead, size 000 or so.
  15. I'll go past CA in Villawood. It's on my way. Thanks for the recommendation!
  16. Hi All, I snapped the very tip off my Nano Cranx rod. I need someone that can put a new tip guide on for me and make it look decent. It snapped right below the tip guide so there is plenty of rod to work with before the next guide. Should be a fairly simple repair.
  17. The sanctuary zones are small. Plenty of places to fish without needing to go near them.
  18. No poppet valve but that corrosion is bad. Sort that out and you'll be fine.
  19. There is but it won't hurt your fishing
  20. You guys are awesome, thanks for the replies! Will call Velox direct and buy a new one.
  21. Take a look at the Daiwa Seabass rods. Super light but powerful. You'll pay slightly more than the cheaper rods mentioned above but the return on investment is huge. I have the 11'6" model in a 2 piece and it is unbeatable from a performance perspective.
  22. Biggest flattie was 55cm. I cooked the Trevally whole on the Webber with some smoking chips thrown in and filled with Lemon, Coriander and Garlic. Came up a treat!
  23. Hi Guys and Gals, I would like to find a spare Velox wheel for my trailer, as we drive long distances. Do they still make them? If not, what are my best options for sourcing a spare wheel? Kind regards Nick
  24. It has an EP bucket mouth and forehead for sure, but has very dark eyes and skin. I'd still call it for an EP.
