  1. Thanks, any suggestions as to cooking methods?
  2. Went for a quick afternoon flick at the local jetty, took the missus as well. She caught 2 undersized flatties and I caught one just shy of 50cm and kept it for a feed. There seem to be quite a few fish to be caught, maybe they have woken up.
  3. Glad to hear you had success on the slow jigs, show us some pics next time!
  4. Sorry mate can't give you good advice on bait fishing, I don't know much about it. But I would recommend you flick a metal and actively go search for them.
  5. Yeah, it is like that when they are thick! If targeting salmon I would suggest going light, since they are mainly just for sport and are clean fighters.
  6. Good catch, fan belly jackets, wierd looking fellas.
  7. I bet it was a kingfish, the one that got away.
  8. Went for another flick after work today and it was HOT! The fish seem a lot hungrier than last time, chasing poppers, stickbaits, jigs... it was fish after fish! I soon felt like I've had enough salmon action and changed spot, but the salmon were there as well! It seems salmon are all over the place at the moment, in close and in thick schools... have you guys seen any schools too? I landed 11 good sized salmon in total and kept two for a feed. Feels darn awesome!
  9. Thanks guy! Hey thanks, the black thingy I am wearing, that is a lifejacket! XD
  10. Hi Big Neil, it was taken on a Olympus TG4.
  11. Thanks! I was using Shimano Twin Power SW 8000 and Shimano Colt Sniper S1000H (Jp domestic model). The salmon were quite full and picky... I saw a fellow fisho spinning for them, but it didn't seem to work too well, with jigging, I can search the whole water column and have more control on the action of the jig to entice a bite! Thanks! It was a shallow spot, probably not even 10 meters. Shimano Twin Power SW 8000 and Shimano Colt Sniper S1000H (Jp domestic model).
  12. Hey guys, went for a flick after work today and was greeted with a school of salmon, good fun! Gave one of the fish to a fellow fisho and saved one for myself, opened it up and found heaps of white bait in their stomach. 60g long shore jig did the damage today.
  13. Sweeeet, that must of been fun!
  14. That's a good size, one less pest in our waterways!
  15. I see... so now they are more often found out wide. I remember reading that the YFT that were around 12 mile were a single local population and did not reproduce with the ones out wide, we might have decimated them for good...
  16. Sorry to hear about your failed attempts at chasing YFT... they continue to elude me as well. Come summer and a lot of other species will be here!
  17. Went out with mates today to 12 miles, very quite... Ended up with only a morwong and a jacket on slow jigs, my other friends also caught one barracouta, one perch, one small kingfish and a few nannygai, and that was it. On of my mates insisted of cubing for tuna, but I thought YFT don't come in that close, am I right? Also saw a pod of whales today, seeing dolphins and whales always mean crappy fishing for me...
