  1. Sounds like an awesome trip, I have to tick this one off the list some day too!
  2. Tonight our "Lure fishing only group" organized a get together dinner. But before gorging ourselves with yummy fish caught by one of our members up at Darwin, two of us went for a quick flick at Brighton le sands and scored one fish per person with shore slow jigs. The kingie was undersized and released but the trevally was a good size and kept. Had a great dinner with the boys, good times!
  3. Good fun on light gear, you sure know how to find them!
  4. Yeah, so I've heard... nothing big though, it's been pretty crap this last half year.
  5. There was a bit of rain yesterday afternoon, but that did not stop me from giving the local ledge a quick flick. Session was under an hour due to the rain getting heavier but still managed one decent Aussie salmon. Where are all the bonito? Seem to be coming late this year... Anyways, check out the video and enjoy, cheers!
  6. Wow, such a beautiful and fishy place, nice video as well!
  7. That higher ledge is just as productive IMO, just a pain in the ass to land a fish if it's too big to lift up. Also, it gets a fair bit of spray in a easterly swell, have to step back a little to avoid getting soaked.
  8. Nice bass, i need to tick this one off my bucket list some day...
  9. Thanks for the kind comments guys!
  10. Yes, that's a pigfish. If keeping for a feed, I would kill it straight away and put it in ice, keeping it alive will just put it under more stress most of the time, and a stressed fish doesn't taste as good.
  11. Thanks! Yup, haha. We were fishing around the 100 meter mark. Yes, it is important for slow pitch rods to have such a long butt, watch one of my previous videos and you will see why.
  12. Went out reef slow jigging with me mate today, conditions were near perfect early in the day but winds picked up in the arvo. We first went scouting for new spots but could only land some barracouta and surprisingly two squid! After switching spots, we could finally see some good signs on the sounder. My PB snapper to date (58cm) was landed shortly after, but the barracoutas were everywhere and giving us a hard time. All in all, a good day of jigging with a pretty decent mixed bag. Also upon request tested out a new jig from Maxel and a slow jigging rod from JS company.
  13. Nice work with the jewies, good size!
  14. Great work on the consistent catches of flatties.
  15. Good offer fellow lure fisho, nice snapper as well!
  16. We got two gemmies as well. I use lumo squid skirts, but not for the jig.
  17. Thanks again for the replies guys, appreciate your support! It takes around 5 mins to hit the bottom and probably double to get it back up.
  18. Haha, thanks for the reply guys, yeah I was all manual. The thing is, this jigging thing is addictive... and now my addiction has gone so far that I'd rather not catch fish than use bait. Not that I am saying there is anything wrong with using electric reels and real bait, I must admit it is much more efficient. But fooling these big fish with fake stuff and then pulling them up with your own hands just feels... special.
  19. Good fighting fish, if only they had a bigger mouth!
