  1. I call it 'frankensteining' Yes I noticed that but I cant seem to post an ad. How ever if I did I would be in breach of forum guidlines as its advertised on scum-tree and ebay. It be good to hear back from someone who ownes a renny though
  2. I am a little bit confused with all the light reading above. Do they want a blanket ban from newcastle to wollongong meaning we cant fish in any of these areas. Or do they just want sanctuarys in key areas like how they have arranged port stephens. I can see if they want small sanctuarys in key areas for the left wing hippys to be happy.
  3. Well depending on what kind of fishing you do flathead are virtually everywhere! If your into bait, my fav spot is to sit inbetween the heads at about 60 feet and just drift with either pillies or squid on a patanosta.
  4. Like an iphone how good would it be if sounders are pin code activated. The pin will always remain even with a factory hard reset. The only way to retrieve a lost pin is via personal email from the company. People will realise that they become useless. As per the epirb I hope the idiots dont activate it for no reason wasting anyones time, because I would highly doubt an RCC would ignore a distress even if it is stolen.
  5. Hey flatty, Yeh im not worried about being swamped, or sinking. Just want to know if the little waste they have on it is effective? Apperentlly they are fitted with auto bilge. I also enjoy tiller steer as you can get more room and space also 3k cheaper, how ever the comfort of a centre console is also conveinient, especially with mounting a sounder. Just still trying to sell my boat at the moment, are we aloud to sell them on this forum? I noticed i could not access the sales thread.
  6. Thanks for the feedback about the Top ender, as much as I appreciate them I dont appreciate the price lol. I am glad I am not ht eonly one concerned about the transom on the renegade how ever the top ender I reckon is as bulky as my escape. The biggest problem I find with the runabouts is that its so hard to find conveint spots for things like fishing rod holders etc. If I buy a new boat I wont be doing any mods as I find it easy too 'frankensteine them' then next thing you know you have all these cheap crap accessorys that either break. I am still keen on the 420 model mainly because of affordibility and size.
  7. Hi all, currently looking at buying a new boat. I currently have a quintrex 455 escape and I do a wide range of fishing from estuary to near coastal. I have had my boat for 8 years and during that time I have discovered what kind of fishing I enjoy the most and sadly my runabout just does not suit. My justifications for the renegade are the below, I intend on one with a side console. The freshwater boat style layout Ability to transport my camping gear Cheap Casting platforms Stowages My questions are Do they go alright on open waters on a good day (swells less then 1.5 meters) I have taken my escape to broughton island, bird island and sit in between the heads of broken bay. Do they handle well with 3 people on board? What avergae speeds do you get? I am looking at a 40hp for one. Does the transom ever cause back wash? Anyother reviews and feedback would be great.
  8. Just to bring this up again there was a long email chain with Lowrance and my self. Unfortunately I received a 'know it all' correspondence. I eventually told them that there is nothing wrong with having a fault with their product and its emails like mine that make the product better. They did not want to have a bar of it. In the end they just wanted to see where my transducer was mounted in a photograph. Not that it would of proved anything as all boats are different. Their answer was that the transducer was tracking surface clutter and until the reset is performed it will stay like this. Well if that is the case does this not take the purpose away from 'auto tracking'? That is exactly the same as tracking 80ft then all of a sudden to 60ft. In my opinion I think there could an issue with the software. Lowrance believes its the transducer mounting location. I call B/S on that. If anyone is seriously concerned about this PM me and I will draft up a letter with everyone elses issues aswell. Re JA
  9. Everytime I retrieve at Blackwall there is always some young fellas or old fellas cleaning there catch. They always say 'i got it up paddys' Paddys is alias for, 'I am not telling you my spot'. I have no problem in sharing my spots, I just dont really have any.....Fish are always on the move no matter what day, time, tide, moon.
  10. I have caught shrimp in yabby nets before but I also know on the abercrombie if you shine a torch at night you will see shrimp.
  11. Looks like you certainly missed out on all the great weather..........
  12. Yeh the only report I have from this weekend around here is everyone on facebook is a weather expert!!!!!!! Was there actually people out fishing on the weekend?
  13. Looks like an interesting project but do you need to replace gaskets?
  14. Sorry, I dont follow...Please explain what you mean?
  15. Was told once that someone used salmon for crab pot bait and they didnt get anything......
  16. I am sure there is a lot of speculation, but I am sure that the father was concerned about leaving his child unattended out of the car. Obviously the worst case scenario happened, but in saying that Murphy's law applies for everything we do. Standby though for all potential law changes when it comes to launching and retrieving a boat. In my honest opinion the amount of people I see act in an unsafe manor, incompetence launching and retrieving and general stuffing around at a boat ramp I seriously think that a course should be incorporated in the boat licence. By stuffing around I mean, unstrapping and strapping on the ramp. Taking sweet time with no sense of urgently and people who take up 3 lanes when launching.
  17. Great work, no really how much is each lesson? lol

  19. Gday raiders I have acquried an old DT25 unsure of the year. The motor seems to have compression but the power pack has all been disconnected. I am not to sure what wire goes to where. The throttle has been disabled from the tiller control and the big red button I assume is the kill switch seems to be hard and I cannot push it. There seems to also be a handle on the outside just behind the gear seleceter handle that is connected to the throttle system. I do not understand why it is there. There seems to be another little button on the front of the outboard which I am unsure of what it does. I can find F/A info about this motor online and was wondering if someone can share their wisdom, references and possible manauls. Re JA
  20. Yes I have heard, being unfamiliar with the area it would be good to get some experienced local knowledge.
  21. Would anyone who knows how to fish the lake be possibly interested in doing a run one weekend soon? I have a boat and I wouldn't mind someone good who can put me on to the fish. I am happy to return the favor in a few of my secret spots. Cheers , JA
  22. The wake boats are always an interesting show, although it makes me cranky I have to share a shallow pristine fishery with helmsman on wake boats that drive like they are supreme navigators. To be honest I like things that fail due to negligence and stupidity, It is always a great show!!!!.
  23. Great to hear so many positive reviews about these little 'bi-products'. If I have a bad day catching flattys I can certainly catch a few of these buggers.
  24. Mate I fished Wondy about a year and a bit a go. We filmed our third episode of Beer bush and boats there. Can be found on youtube or google. Great fishing. We were anchored at this one spot during Low tide casting plastics. We got onto about 20 Flattys and 12 Well over legal!! We went home with 3 Good keepers for dinner. There are plenty in there. Most of what we caught were mothers as well with hopefully plenty of eggs! They were really fat. I went there last year in Oct long weekend caught only 1 Flatty which I released. Although I was very surprised to see Wake boats tearing up the shallow water. I thought it was an 8 knot zone but it doesn't matter. Be alert that it is very shallow water is some sections. I recommend an electric motor to push. I had my motor tilted when I was up in there. Next time I go there I will take a canoe I reckon.
  25. My johno is really good on fuel, I can get to broughton island and back on 20 litres. Thanks for the feedback, I have heard nothing but good about the yammys. Pending I can get approved finance and approved by my MRS i probably will go ahead. I think the 40 will be a lot more powerful then my 50. I think the third cylinder will make a difference. I also believe that 4 strokes will be better for trolling.
