  1. Hi, no the serial and model number is listed on the plate on the transom bracket-where did you get that serial number from if not from this plate. Why not post a picture and I can give you an idea of the vintage. Cheers, Huey.
  2. Hi, the model number is needed to determine the year model of a E/J outboard. Cheers, Huey.
  3. Hi Jani, the Raymarine Dragonfly combo unit is $700 here in Oz, so see what the freight would be upto Finland, but I wound think it would not be worthwhile buying from down here. Cheers, Huey.
  4. Hi, the best value and very good biminis are Oceansouth ones-we have fitted to many boats and easy to fit. You can buy them with or without rod racks and being a Raider you will get a good price, so contact me if you would like to know more. Cheers, Huey.
  5. Hi, no problem, I hope he enjoys his new boat. Cheers, Huey.

Hi, the TM260 is all we fit if someone wants a 1Kw transom mount. The best is the M260 if you hull is suitable to fit an in hull tranny. This unit when fitted right will read at speed and give very good depth penetration. Cheers, Huey.
  7. Buy from the Koala store then and good luck and I hope they provide as much free advise as people do on here.
  8. Hi, looking at the intakes in the Honda brochure I have they look pretty standard to me and if you have a good ear muff flusher (there are some bad ones out there) then I would think the ears would cover the whole intake. This style of water intake has been around 40 odd years in some brands and from powerhead down the basic principle of all outboards are pretty much the same. As mentioned maybe call Honda if you are worried. Cheers, Huey.
  9. Hi, $650 will get you the Elite-5 combo with DSI and that is worth every cent and being a combo, no problem using as just a fishfinder but the ability to get mapping too is worth it. If you can find $200 more the Dragonfly is a great little unit and then again for a little more the Elite-7 is worth the extra coin. As with anything boating there will be something better up the price scale and you alone are the only way that knows if it is worth the extra. Cheers, Huey.
  10. Hi, as with any outboard used in salt water flushing can make a big deal to longevity so I would use what Honda recommend and not sure what they mean by taping up the intakes-that is where the ear muff style of flusher needs to go to get cooling water to the powerhead. Be on top of replacing the internal anodes too so ask the servicing dealer about this at service time and if they are unsure or have not mentioned it maybe find someone else. Cheers, Huey.
  11. Hi, drum winches work well and there are many brands out there ranging a lot in price. The anchor well will determine what someone can fit and Dave, your tournament does not have the room or strong enough bulkhead to fit a drum winch and I doubt it has a "shelf" to fit a capstain winch so that will make fitting a winch a bit tricky. Anything is possible if you have the money and inclination to make it happen so measure what you have twice and see what will fit. Cheers, Huey.
  12. Hi, which fishfinder is best comes down to budget so indicate what you want to spend and I will tell you what I think is the best at todays prices-because as I said earlier almost monthly, with specials manufacturers have, that can change. Cheers, Huey.
  13. Hi, how do you think an E-TEC sits in between carby and 4-Strokes in terms of benefits. They do everything a 4-Stroke does, like being clean, quiet and fuel efficient BUT they perform well, are a simple mechanical devise with a lot less moving parts and good weight. I can point you in the direction of plenty of people who have made the switch from old tech to new tech and they are very happy and you would be with any clean tech engine but you will need to spend more money to buy a higher HP 4-stroke engine and also factor in the service costs. Swing by here one day and I will show you a 9 year old 4-Stroke cylinder head with only 216 hours on it-that was flushed after each use and then you can make your own mind up. The simple facts are all clean engine are clean, they are all quiet and they are ALL smoke free and as for adding oil, so once a year you are topping an oil bottle vs draining the sump oil and changing filter plus all the other things needed with valves (check the owners manuals of some brands and see what should be done at pretty low hours) and do not think for a minute a 4-Stroke does not use oil working hard like an outboard does. It is your boat so you can fit anything you like, just like I can choose to stock anything I like and everyone likes what they like but I have seen more than most and on average run a boat a day with all sorts of engines on the back and I know what I would fit. getting replies like I switch from an old tech engine to any clean tech engine and they are happy is what should happen, it is like a guy saying I got rid of a 1980's car and bought a brand new car of another make and how make better is this brand than the first brand-it is pointless comparison comparing old vs new. Cheers, Huey.
  14. Hi, this subject has been done to death and you are not compares apples to apples comparing an old fashion carby engine to a clean engine. Personally all the reasons you like your current engine- light weight, simple design with a lot less moving parts and performance come with an E-TEC plus the world's best emissions, a lot quieter running and great fuel economy. A 75HP E-TEC will outperform your current engine while all the while burning half the fuel plus they come with the best warranty, lowest service costs (the oil you buy once a year will cost you a lot less than yearly services on other clean tech engines), SST prop and for a while $750 cashback so unbeatable and yes we can sell any brand we would like and service them all just prefer the brand we do for the above reasons and more. Cheers, Huey.
  15. Hi, I agree with Geoff, in the first two it is too high but the last two look OK so if it has been lowered in the last two pictures then it will be a case of changing angle. Fitting internally, done correctly, does work if no air pockets in the hull. Cheers, Huey.
  16. Hi, I personally think the Extreme range of plate alloy boats are the best alloy centre console made and why we choose to stock them. Your father should look at these too because in my opinion they are superior to both the brands you mention. As for your question on stability, the Surtees is stable but nothing is as stable at rest than a pontoon boat but as you pointed out the room on such a hull is limited due to the tubes. We have a 540 Sportfisher here at present and once you see the build quality, attention to detail and finish you will understand what I say and being the only brand built to not only CPC standard but to Survey standard as well you do not get better. Cheers, Huey.
  17. Hi Grant, yes the good old Merc "black anchor" syndrome is very much related to the old red band and early blue band. By 1983 when the last "blue band" was made the US had listened to the rest of the world and were making their engines for salt water use. The classic black anchor can relate to other brands nowsdays too because I can guarantee you, you will still see 30 year old "black anchor" Mercs still running around whereas just yesterday we traded only a 9 year old engine which has a badly corroded cylinder head that is too costly to fix for the owner so we are fitting a white engine. This engine was black and it is not a Merc- it is not the first time I have seen this and it will not be the last time an engine of this brand fails where the cylinder head is corroded beyond cost effective repair for an owner. Cheers, Huey.
  18. Hi, IF it is true red band Merc, which I highly doubt because no such thing as a 75HP back in the 1960's, then the three cylinder 75HP/90HP Mercs of the last 20 odd years have weighed in at 138Kg. As for "bands" on Merc, that has not be used for many years but started off with the 60's Red band, then went to blue bands and for a few years there brown bands. Around the early 1990's they stopped using this term and serial number is all important when determining the age of a Merc. Cheers, Huey.
  19. Hi, you do not even list what engine you have so hard to answer a question but most Mercs are very simple to remove the gearbox because they use a splines shiftshaft-Now if you have a TMC built Merc then you are blaming the wrong people in your last comment. Cheers, Huey.
  20. Hi, simple to flush the outboard via the fresh water flushing port at the rear so do not listen to that person that claimed what he told you. BRP recommend flushing via that port and can be done with or without running engine. All of this is explained in the owners manual. Cheers, Huey.
  21. Hi Rod, it is a 1982 model. Cheers, Huey.
  22. Hi, the M/K would not care what engine it is fitted to and they come in 55lb / 80lb and 160lb units. They work well and we have fitted a few over the years. Cheers, Huey.
  23. Hi Paikea, blistering paint and actual alloy corrosion are two very different things and most alloy boats that truly corrode live in the water permantley or have the boat acting as an earth return and you get a lot of current running thru the boat. I know the Oz made brand I choose to stock and sell use duralac and alloy rivets where possible and we do here too. The other brand we stock, being the Extreme range of boats, are up another level of ALL alloy boats I have ever seen and these guys have the best paint work and go the extra mile to avoid the potential for problems associated with salt water. This is why they cost a bit more and are the only brand built to not only CPC standard but to Survey as well so yes mate to answer your question some brands go above and beyond and as the saying goes "you get what you pay for in life" and with boats that is very true. Trust me I have had pretty much all the alloy boat makers contact me over the years about stocking and selling their boats and most are good but I choose to stock and sell what I do because they are the best. Cheers, Huey.
  24. Hi Dave, you can go into the menu and make sure the unit is receiving a signal from the tranny. That transducer alos looks too high and up on the plane I doubt you would get good readings because the bottom surface of the transducer will be out of the water. See it all the time where someone fits a transducer incorrectly. Cheers, Huey.
