Just a thought, what about a Fishraider of the month award.
There could be a suitable standard,as in number of posts,or being nominated for helping fellow raiders.
I can think of a few raiders who are worthy,ie-jewgaffer-for his willingness to always help and share knowledge with fellow raiders or my nomination for the month would be Roberta. Her detailed and informative posts are a joy to read.
Im not really thinking of just a prize lottery more so some kind of recognition like a blurb at the top with the sponsers logos.Something along the lines of YOUR RAIDER OF THE MONTH IS........

I purchased one about 8 months ago in a combo with a 7ft catana rod as i was also on a budget.
So far it has been a good reel/combo,with no signs of rust or any other problems.I also wash it properly after each use(as i do with all my rods/reels).
For the money i think they are very good(I paid $99,for the combo on special).

I have been using the boat ramp at picnic point boat shed but it is a long way to drive at night if you want to fish over at the runway. (mainly been using this as i need to get 20 hours up for the first service on the
Hoges
Not the best ramp at night,My brother-in-law had his tyres slashed there about 6 months ago.

A friend sent me this link, absolutely amazing footage.
http://www.brightcove.tv/title.jsp?title=1438490562
Reading about it,It is Spain's El Chorro Canyon. The pathway provided access to sluice gates controlling water flow through a tunnel/pipe/aquaduct system through and along the narrow canyon walls. The water supply system closed about 1945, but the deteriorated pathway remains. A scary, exciting walk!

'THE AUSTRALIAN APPROACH'
A young Aussie lad moved to London and went to Harrods looking for a job. The manager asked 'Do you have any sales experience?'
The young man answered 'Yeah, I was a salesman back home in Charleville, Queensland.'
The manager liked the Aussie so he gave him the job. His first day on the job was challenging and busy, but he got through it.
After the store was locked up, the manager came down and asked, 'OK, so how many sales did you make today?'
The Aussie said 'One!'
The manager groaned and continued, 'Just one? Our sales people average 20 or 30 sales a day. How much was the sale for?'
£124,237.64
The manager choked and exclaimed £124,237.64!! What the hell did you sell him?'
“Well, first I sold him a small fish hook, then a medium fish hook and then I sold him a new fishing rod. Then I asked him where he was going fishing and he said down at the coast, so I told him he would need a boat, so we went down to the boat department and I sold him that twin-engined Power Cat. Then he said he didn't think his Honda Civic would pull it, so I took him down to car sales and I sold him the 4 x 4 Suzuki”.
The manager, incredulous, said 'You mean to tell me....a guy came in here to buy a fish hook and you sold him a boat and a 4x4?'
“No no no......he came in here to buy a box of tampons for his lady friend and I said.........
“Well, since your weekend's buggered, you might as well go fishing.”
