  1. Hi All Well today we went east and Nth. Covered about the same distance as last wk. Was a sensational day wide, great blue water, smooth conditions, magic day in the ocean. We went about 50km offshore to the Bait station, from Sydney so a travel Nth as well. No sign of Marlin for us, some spectacular excitment as we spotted splashes int he distance to have it deflated when close to see pods of pilot whales. Nice but not what we were looking for. At least this week there was some great blue water, like Yankee lots of 22.3 clear blue stuff, but deviod of bait. Tried both FADS, dropped some nice sized Dollys at Botany, nothing up north at all. On the way in we decided to drop a cpl of lives @ Blue fish in the vain hope of boating something. Invested in a Certae for Chrissy and matched it up to my Mahi Mahi King rod, and gee's did it earn it's keep today , ran out of lives and leader, there were some very big kings haunting the leadge today, We boated a cpl of nice fish the biggest just under 90cms. They go so hard esp in shallow water so a great finsih to a nice day on the water. Happy New Yr too all. May 07 bring many hrs of fishing. Jon We were out today, call sign was angela, did not realiseu were a fishraider will have to say hi next time. We left the heads at 7am, went to the BB Wide Fad, dropped 2 nice dollys went very quite, Out to the shelf nearly to Browns for nothing, no bait. Having gone to the Canyons last week we decided to go very Nth, up to the Bait Station of Broken Bay, saw lots of pods of poliot whales and dolphins, not a sign of working birds or biat. Tried the Broken Bay FAD nothing there or on the traps, so a long punt home. We had a cpl of lives still kicking so stopped @ Blue Fish and scored a cpl of 90cm kinggs which brought some smiles back Mate great work raising a fish, well done to get him boat side on your first good luck in the coming wks for some more. Jon

  3. Hi All Well done Kelvin Met him back @ the ramp with his beautiful fish, I had a big zero, stoll struggling to get back to finding squid in the harbour. Kelivin unloaded his picked baits to me so at least I have a shot for tomorrow )) Was plenty of salmon in the outer harbour but many boats were driving though or too close. Went outside for a cpl of hrs was very messy lumpy sea, and was solo today so slow drive back in. Wandered around looking for squid, and the usual spots seemed to b dormant. So finally wandered home fishless. Well out tomorrow going wide again in the vain hope of scoring a Dolly before the end of the year. Going to lament my fishless day with a beer now. Jon
  4. Well done Boys, great effort in less than excellent conditions, it certainly paid of for braving the weather We r hoping to have as good a day soon. Jon
  5. Hi All After watching Kelvin boat 5 squid in ten minutes while I had none, I went of and got some yakkas, Botany FAD Wide, nothing, not even the FAD was underwater with 5knts current. No Fish. 19.4 unitl approx 1km then 20.4 12 mile nothing, 21.3 Shelf nothing 22.8 Browns nothing 22.8 Sth Browns to the Canyons nothing 22 No bait, no stripies Droppped a good bonny off botany and followed some slurping kings @ Chinamens Well, will give it a few days and makebe by the end of the week we will see some fish again. JON
  6. Hi Mate I use a salt away product wihch helps to dissolve the salt that builds up int eh gallerys, not sure how well it will work if they r seriously choked up but I have found that it has keep the gerneral salt build up all over the boat riht down. Jon
  7. Hi Kelvin Mate nice bag again. I too have just recovered physically and mental from a fishless day. Learnt alot, but did not get o aplly much of it, will give it a go at the FAD I think. Was going tomorrow but think it might b a tad ruff to fish one, will wait till Saturday I think, might have calmed a bit by then. Good fishing yet again, I am on leave so if u want some one to hold the boat while u get eh car I am up for it. JOn
  8. Hi Johno I have been looking at the Accurate reels for a while now. The company started literally in aerospace, so their machining is in microns. The family business was doing very well and are mad fisho's so they startted usig some of there super tooling to manufacture high quality componements for Penn reels, side plates, improved drags, handles etc etc. Your reel is an accurate upgrade Penn, they are seriously improved pieces of kit. The Accurate reels themselves are now being produced as a brand and are also so smooth and finly machined it is stupid Prob here is that there is one importer and he is in Nth Queensland. So servicing etc can b a problem. But what u have there is a good reel that has been upgraded to a great reel. Regards Jon
  9. Hi All Happy ending the Mech was very embarrassed and has replaced the hub, and the rim as it was scuffed inside the wheel nut holes. Repairs were done at my place and very happy with the result. Jon

  14. Hi All I ment to post this yeasterday, I fished out of Bayview yesterday and got down there and there is no pontoon. The council in it's wisdom has decided that the old one was silting up, (true) but has picked the mth of Dec to take ohe old one out and until Chrissy there is no pontoon, nor is the beach on either side of the pontoon acessible as they have the work platform tied off to the beach. Only an issue for families putting everyone on and off. Jon
  15. Hoping to go jigging @ the peak on Sunday JOn
  16. Hi All Ventured wide today in the hope that the warm water would be around. Second trip in a cpl of weeks. Water was COLDER today. 19.1 at the FAD, as a result got one small dolly and a tiny king. Bit disheartened witht he temp came backin, trolled around east reef nothing, The Joey had schools of salmon busting up, we towed some lives round the school, only to get MONSTERED half a dozen times. Had the Stradic screamng twice drag all the way up and did not even slow them down, LOL well was fun to hear the reel working. Wacked out the big gun the tld 25 and 40 trace, same 30-40 sec of serious running and smack into the reef and gone. Was fun and the kings r there, took a while but Harakara and I are slowly learnign patience, tight balls bait = fish. God I hope the warm water gets there soon. Jon
  17. Hi All Was very lucky today, home from fishing, 45min drive formt he ramp, last turn in the deadend and parked, get out and one wheel is skewed on the hub. Only 1 wheel nut left and 3 studs sheared off. Have bearing buddies and the trailer was serviced 2wks ago Any ideas as i will have to discuss it witht eh Mech tomorrow. Jon

  22. Hi All Was all keent o get wide and hit the BB fad, collected some candy yakkas and a few squid and nudged outside @ 7am to be greeted with not 10-15 but closer to 25, and a sharp chop, Had a cpl of new fishers so decided not to bang all teh way out, fished downt o Avalon but the wind was mental, turned around as all it was doing was blowing the lines together, Had a fast drift around Lion Island for a few flatties and flonder, A cpl of hits at stokes, Lost the bomb on the downrigger, And home with a lot of wind burn and not a lot of fish But as we know was better than being at work on a Friday.
