  1. I have a raymarine eSeries. Circa 2012 so its getting out of date. My sounder is pretty bad but I dont really know how to customise it/use it properly. The touchscreen doesnt work so I have to use the menu button and up down arrows so its a pain. Compared to some of the screenshots of newer garmins or lowrances it doesnt even compare. Its got 2012 maps which are still fairly accurate. Compared to google maps and navionics I would rate it better than google maps but not as accurate as navionics.
  2. From your screenshots zoran you can see that the waypoints line up with underawater features so it does look like it contains more detail.

I tried to edit my post it didnt work i suppose. Was meant to simplify it to trim down (in) bow down, trim up (out) bow up.

Trim down more to help lift the stern up?
  5. I just upgraded. A bit more detail in my local area with depths and things.
  6. How does navionics work on a chart plotter? Do people really pay $369 a year? My boat came with it installed. The maps are from 2012 but still accurate and keeps the waypoints
  7. Someone told me that I've yet to test it out.
  8. I believe you can keep your marks and just choose not to upgrade. You just won't see any new features.
  9. Yep I noticed that as well and read on fb forums of the price hike. I too messaged them and their reply was that feedback they had received was that all their many products were too confusing for users so it's been all consolidated into one package. Unfortunately us mobile users will see a price hike but other subscription users will see a reduction in their costs.
  10. JonD where did you get that drum from? It looks like a perfect size for my boat. What are the dimensions if you dont mind me asking?
  11. What sot of fuse did you put in here? Was it an inline fuse or a fuse on the battery terminal? Also curious, do people fuse their positive cable running to the starter motor on the engine and if so, what size is required?
  12. This is a 2006 mercury 4 stroke's maintenance schedule to give you an idea.
  13. Thanks for the clarification. As always great advice!
  14. Just to throw a spanner in the works......I'm pretty sure someone on fishraider told me not to run with 1+2 selected. I'm not sure why but I have since just stuck to the one battery for each trip. Batt 1 one day. Batt 2 the next trip. Etc. Can't remember the reason tho. Lol. Makes sense thst if you have an hour drive to a fishing spot you would put it on 1+2 and then you should have two full batteries when you get there!!
  15. Or is there another way to test the buzzer say by removing the temp sensor plug while the ignition is on/engine is running? Should that cause the buzzer to sound?
  16. @antonywardle I have read conflicting information regarding the 1, 2, 1+2, off isolator switches and a VSR. Some people say you need a second switch to join the two batteries if your starter battery goes flat. Some people have said you don't. It sounds like you didn't have to in your explanation above.
  17. So finally pulled control box apart and found the buzzer. Connections looked ok. Can i just plug this buzzer into a 12v power supply to test if it will work?
  18. I checked a few others out and a couple said they would need a similar survey.
  19. Ill grab some photos tonight. If I remove or have that first keel roller too low, all the stern weight it placed on those 12 stern keel rollers. The rear-most 8 rollers take most of the weight and push the front 4 up. Where the front 4 hit the bottom of my boat it sounds hollow and flexes in and does not look right at all. Lol. Ill get some pics 😎
  20. I know your from NSW but MSQ (Marine Safety Queensland) states:- lifejackets must comply and display information about which Australian Standard (AS) applies. The lifejacket must comply with this standard. The current standard is AS 4758, which has replaced AS 1512-1996, AS 1499-1996 and AS 2260-1996. Lifejackets that meet these previous standards are still acceptable to use if they are in good condition.
  21. One day Ill get to re-wiring my boat. Might look at a fuse box to tidy it up/simplify it.
  22. @zmk1962 ah I see what you mean. Thanks for that but I dont think it would work for my situation. With my boat the stern-most keel roller take most of the weight. Those stern wobble rollers mustnt line up with my baulkheads. If I put too much weigt on the rollers the front-most ones end up pushing into the bottom of the boat causing it to flex pretty badly. All good I dont mind winching it on by hand.
  23. I got mine for $21 for 8" rollers and $28 for the 12". It adds up I think you need 5 or 6 of them. I also got a red poly V block for at the winch post. The existing hard blue 4" roller smashed the gel coat up on my first trip away with the new trailer. If i were you I would replace that first. it was only $13 (plus shipping)
  24. I went RACQ as our cars and home contents are with them. Found them to be one of, if not the cheapest I found. I do have to get my 87 carribean surveyed though before next year as its now 30 years old and needs to be assessed for safety by a professional. But I think others will have a similar policy on older boats
  25. Yeah rust has already set in on parts of my motor but when I get a new motor I'll probably use it
