  1. I just isolate at eh switch. Have had boat 2 years and havnt had battery go flat yet (touch wood). Sometimes go a month without using it. If thats the case Ill connect up the muffs and run it for 10 mins.
  2. He seems to be pretty successful does videos all the time and has quite a big fan base. I like it, he speaks laymans terms. Shows you real world sort of stuff. Like if you cant get some parts to come apart he shows a few different methods. The service manual just says "unbolt these 4 bolts and slide part off" which in real life isnt always the case. Lol. I plan to service my engine every year myself now and take it to the mechanic every other year for a checkup/engine scan etc. I found mechanics sometimes don't follow the service manual correctly so in some cases "if you want it done right do it yourself" can apply.
  3. I have a 2006 version of that motor. I cant trim higher than about 3/4 up (on my gauge) when running over 2000rpm. I found this when running in shallow water I just have to keep the revs below 2000 which means I cant go any faster than about 6-7 knots. I just assumed it was a safety thing to prevent sucking air into the prop when its close to the surface of the water.
  4. True yeah I have seen those stronger ones and the design does look much better
  5. For bottom bashing I use standard paternoster with ball sinker on the bottom and hooks about 200-300mm apart. Tie an overhand knot after the ball sinker so if it gets caught on rocks you pull hard enough you only lose the sinker and not the whole rig. (thanks ryan moody for that tip) Definitely have the sinker on the bottom for fishing shoals and rocky areas. Running sinker style setup for sand or muddy bottoms.
  6. Have you ever had the snap swivels fail on you? I went fishing the other week and the first thing everyone else on the boat said was to get rid of my snap swivels as they would fail. Fishing in 60m of water for large mouth nannygai's. Ive never had one fail but I have also never caught big nannys like we did that day.
  7. Been there done that. Haha. grease all over the inside of the wheel.
  8. Never seen a boat with a square keel. I have all red keel rollers. You need to lube them up otherwise they can get a sticky as the black ones. A spray of inox to each one before launching will do wonders for helping the boat roll off the trailer. As someone else said, it might be better to jack the boat up off the rollers and remove one of the rollers so you have the correct size. You could even replace them one at a time using this method but taking the boat to the ramp will be quicker in the long run. Just make sure you have all the parts ready to go so you dont end up doing it twice.
  9. Narooma is a town in the Australian state of New South Wales on the far south coast. The town is on the Princes Highway and the name Narooma is said to be derived from the Aboriginal word meaning ‘clear blue waters’. That would be why
  10. Nice might look into those prop locks.
  11. Ballpark figure of how much the custom cover cost?
  12. Definnately seems a little high for the price I would offer him a little less and see if he takes it. Otherwise looks clean. Also take it for a test drive. Most people are happy to accommodate. If not then I would be very suspicious.
  13. Do life jackets have an expiry date from the date of manufacture? I couldnt find a reference to this on the Maritime Safety Queensland site. I checked my safety gear last night and a couple of lifejackets are the old type 1's manufactured in 2010. All the straps and buckles are still in good condition but I will look at replacing them next time I go to the big smoke. 😎
  14. Im in VMR in QLD and we did the radio course last year. From memory the epirb signal goes to canberra and then they are most likely to activate the closest water police who in our area would contact the local VMR/Coastguard. So it would take a few minutes to contact the police and local guys and then they would take anywhere from 30-45 minutes to mobilise and get on the water. Depending on the location or how far out at sea they would activate rescue helicopters. We had a chopper flying around town the other month. Supposedly it was from an epirb being set off in someones back yard. Not sure if it was intentional or not.
  15. Traced all wires back to ecm and checked them. They seem fine. Ill have to get one of those test lights and follow the wires back.
  16. How do you check earth of the buzzer? Pulled cover off ecm but didn't go any further. Engine positive and negative make it a tight squeeze. I guess I'll be looking at the yellow and brown wires as mentioned in previous post .
  17. Thanks heaps for your help. More investigating to do. Looks like I need to track where the yellow and brown wires go into the ecm. Brown/blue goes to green which goes to yellow. Purple goes to blue which goes to brown.
  18. Straps front but thats because I fold it back for travel. No room to fold it forward. They get in the way I removed a full length canopy in the hope to create more room in the end ive got way less fishing room. The full length canopy is going back on soon.

    Vsea rewire

What size online fuse do you have off your battery? I was going to put one in but couldn't find a fuse holder big enough. My battery cables are like jumper lead thickness. If your switch panel has breakers in it for each item I think that should be enough. Have you thought about a battery isolator to prevent any items slowly draining it while not in use?
  20. Pulled water temp sensor, no alarm. Oil sensor is screwed on so didn't touch it. Wiring diagram is hard to read/understand. Picture is of gauges wiring. Buzzer is number 11. Brown/blue wire goes through tacho harness and on to 18 which is a warning light which I don't have equipped. Purple wire connects to ignition which then goes on through tacho harness and to connect to 13 which is temperature gauge. I don't have a temp gauge. Could this be why I don't hear a beep on start-up and when I pull the temp sensor? Might have to try by disconnecting the oil sensor wire next which is a single pink/white wire connected on top of engine just under fly wheel.
  21. So buzzer works fine when connected to a 12 volt power supply. Yet I do not have any start-up warning sounds. Is it possible my model does not have this function? Is there another way to check the buzzer circuitry works correctly? Ie can I start the engine and remove the water temp sensor plug while engine is still running? Should this cause warning buzzer to operate? I'd like to make sure any warning signals are all hooked up and operational.
  22. how many livies do you think a 35L bucket can handle? I have limited room on my transom well I think a 35L bucket would be max I could fit without getting in the way of the steering.
