Thanks heaps Hodgy! time to have a drink and a fish!
  4. i was up there 3 weeks ago, and fished the same place, trinity inlet..went on a half day tour with this operator who catches the crabs (he had several traps in different areas of the inlet, under the mangroves)..no fish at all that day but found about 7 mud crabs in one trap and they were lunch (there was only 4 people on board too!)...so it was 50/50.. later that day i fished off from the "Wharf F" on the marina (hired the tackle from the small boat hire place in the marina, $12 for the whole day!!) and caught 5 good sized "QLD grunters" !! no pics as i was fishing by myself and my camera is too heavy to carry around! the fish went well on the bbq along the broadwalk/esplanade... PS/ that croc is a regular on trinity inlet, i guess! well, arnt they all in that part of Australia anyway?
  5. Hi Craig, thanks for the offer. but i dont think your place is big enough for us, there will be 4 adults and 2 kids. Thanks you muchly again!
  6. A mate suggested that we go somewhere during the easter break and i started looking at places within 3-4 hour drive distance from Sydney, and you guessed right, ALL BOOKED OUT! So, taking a long shot and thought of asking beloved fishraider raiders whether they know of any place (not too commercialised, preferebly not advertised on the net!) big enough for 4 adults and 2 toddlers..somewhere near water where i can cast a line would be NICE! Thank you all in advance!

  13. wow..i didnt know that either..i went carp fishing one time at the local lakes and this asian gentleman approached me and offered $20 for a 5kg + carp i caught, i didnt take the money or gave him the fish as i didnt want him to get poisoned (given the amount of pollution in that lake!) but thought may be i can catch carp from penrith and sell them to these people (why not, to pay off my boat loan LOL)..is that deemed to be illegal as well?..even though its carp and its a pest
  14. hey john, for real?.. i've fished there landbased (from the jetty) and from my understanding its pretty shallow around there..i've casted towards the middle of the river (yeah, after alot of barbel curls hahaha) but never scored a jewie from there..ummm... may be there's a deep yet smaller hole somewhere there..

    Garfish

clean the fish, rub in some lime juice, chilli powder, salt and deep fry until the flesh turns light brown...at this stage even the bones are crunchy (extra dose of calcium!).we use it as a nibble and goes well with chivas on the rocks
  16. Thanks Guys..wasnt a bad drive in the drizzle, got there bottom of the tide and fished from the structure next to the boat ramp (PS/ the boat ramp seems to be done up and it looks much better now, no knee high mid anymore!!!) .. it was overcast and windy..too many house boats (wtf???),managed 1 bream, thats the one and only bite for the whole 3 hours i was there! Hey JohnV, i was tempted to drive up to spencer but was wwith the family so couldnt really leave 'em there... didnt know u could catch jewies LB @ Spencer? is that from the boat ramp? or the wharf?

  21. Hi All, I am looking for a cheaper (but good, of course!) charter operators in Fiji as me and a mate planning to travel Fiji in another month or so. We have done some online research and the cheapest found was $950 for a whole day game fishing! If anyone can PM me with the details of an operator you recommend, that would be great! Admins - not sure whether this is allowed (to ask about charter operators in the public forum, if so, please let me know ) Thank you
