  1. wow! so basically the sticker is a guide only, wonder why they spend millions printing them stickers faulty?.. but yeah, u're quite right Hodgey, thats the government bureaucracy for ya..
  2. I have a different opinion.. I would've let them fine me and then take them to courts to prove that the fine was unfair because i was using THEIR measurements! Technically they cant say "our stickers are wrong, therefore u're guilty so we're going to fine you" .. if their system is faulty then they should fix it rather than intimidating the users.. if the stickers given away by the maritime are wrong then there's no way in hell they can book you for having a legal size fish "according to maritime sticker measurement" but not according to patrol officers $2 tape measurement.. i REALLY hope i'll bump on to them next time..
  3. I would like to think it would been some massive muddie too but what are the odds eh?.. i reckon my new metal mesh trap cage will be abit too heavy for a smart muddy to drag, but then again a not-so-smart human being can easily life it up, take the crabs (if there's any) and take the cage as well! hahaha .. really?..i thought deeper water is better! will try that next time is murky water any better?
  4. true eh?...umm..nah, i'll just wrtie down my name and number and try 'n watch from a distance Thanks Hodgey!
  5. My mate has a better idea, she reckons i should stick a syringe with the needle (UNUSED< of course) to freak out the potential low-lifes! sounds good but not sure how legal it is..LOL
  6. Thanks Swordy, i'll def get few of them styrofoam balls as my new trap is much heavier.. well, see, thats the proble..i usually drop the traps and then go away to do my fishing..hardly come around to check them till im actually done for the day.. my fault in that case if someone steals them but what i cannot understand is why them people cant buy a $8 witches hat and spend another $5 on a frozen mullet and catch their own crabs :s you reckon 40m too much? .. got the point swordy.. cheers!
  7. how much length of rope you reckon I would need?..40m?..
  8. so far i have lost 2 witches hats. both traps had empty 2L milk bottles attached to the other end of the rope and when i return to the site after few hours they were no where to be found (unless some low-life stole them) .. I am still trying to figure out what would've happened to them.. did a strong current took 'em away or the 2L plastic bottles simply werent enough to hold the traps? Now that I have made a heavier trap with wire mesh, I would like to know any good tips to keep/hold the floaters still from washing away/sinking (as i cant help if anyone decided to steal them!)
  9. Hi JewGaffer, thanks again for the brilliant analysis and advice! Note taken and seems like I should be somewhere closer to the mouth of the river and practise my patience on Sunday or calling in sick on monday?...or both! ..notes taken!
  10. Thanks for the info Ian. I spoke to Maritime Hawkesbury and the lady adviced that we can actually launch from Brooklyne or Parsley bay however we should keep away from the main channels..for an example, you arnt allowed to fish under the rail bridge or the old pylons the como starts @ 8am and runs till 12-1 in the arvo, according to her.. ..im thinking whether its still worth giving hawkesbury a go
  11. Planning to take the boat out to Brooklyn this Sunday..Since I am not much familiar with the baro meter readings, swell reading etc yet, thought of asking you gentlemen out there for your opinion.. Would it be good, not so good, worth taking a shot or big no no.. ?
  12. Weldone Justin.. Nice pic of the flatty swimming away.. ..is it safe to consume the fish caught from that area?...

    Anchor Size?

Hi All, Just trying to work out the best size anchor for my 4m glass runabout as the current sand anchor dosent hold the boat still, the boat seems to drift abit even with the anchor on! Any ideas fellas?
  15. Ended up going out, last min decision..Launched around 9am and fished till 2pm, somewhat choppy waters and got soaked but it was fun.. As far as the fishings concerned, nothing fancy..few undersized and 1 good size (32cm) keeper bream.. All over nice day out and got a free "boat wash" as well! lOL
  16. ummm..thanks mate.. saturdy will be the better option eh?
  17. ummmm...would a few rains make the water all choppy?
  18. Planning to take my 4m 15hp runabout for a fishing spin coming sunday, after like a month (note: work sucks!) but not sure how the conditions would be and where to go..I usually fish hawkesbury, brooklyn, patong side but want to explore other areas however, not sure the conditions in other areas suit my boat? ummmmm...
  19. Ive caught many good sized EP's, Breams and Flatties around the Spencer area (when i was landbased) .. run in tide was my lucky time and prawns always has been the proven bait.. yet to try my luck with the boat ...
  20. Never seen a king parrot (if i am right, the one in the 3rd pic) in Sydney suburbia before .. awsome backyard mate, beats mine with just grass and flowers! LOL
  21. Dicko, I've been through the same "its only paint bubbles mate, nothing to worry unless u're one of them who worries about the looks not the performance..etc..." speil once and the only difference between myself and you is that i actually ended up buying the damn thing! Similar scenario to yours, awsome motor, good trailer and a nice tinny with some "paint bubbles" but oh boy didnt it freak me out when i took it to this paint shop only to find out the bloody thing is covered with corrosion left right and centre.. the painter reckons its was NOT worth fixing it unless im prepared to spend approx $2k to fix the whole thing (excluding the cost to pull the motor out, turn the boat upside down etc..) So, ive ended up selling it less than half of the purchased price.. so there, my little boat story..however, that being said im not saying the one you;re looking at is crap..but shop around.. on another note, if you have approx $6k budget, why dont you go for a good sized half cabin glass boat..much more comfortable..

    Propeller

    Thanks Craig.. Will Do..

    Propeller

All, How much would it cost to replace the propeller for an above model motor, brand new or second hand? my awsome (NOT!! ) fishing buddy went over some oyster racks and now the propeller's badly scratched (not broken or disfigured though) .. the edges of 2-3 blades are scarred.. but the motor runs fine and i really couldnt pick any difference in boat's performance or handling.. However, I thought it would be good and look nice if I could find a 2nd hand or brand new propeller installed, depending on the cost.. Any advice is appriciated Cheers..
  24. Mullet creek being fairly shallow (except the end of the creek which reaches 18ft +) can trawlers even go there let alone netting?.. last time when i went there, i almost got uphooked by some tree branch under water!! scary stuff!
  25. ..abit of "out of the topic" question... Would my 3.65 15Hp runabout be able to handle the bay conditions?...if not what are the "recomended" areas?..
