  1. Well done as that area has been alittle quite this season, plenty of flatties though.
  2. Dont be too scared, if you take off the front treble they dont snag as much, however you loose some hookup ratio, thay work great on the flats too, fish them like a plastic, let sink and hop it off the bottom, pause a bit in between, the hit usually come on the drop, they are a little bit hit and miss however some days thay really fire the fish up, experiment and enjoy.

    Blackfish

Let me start by saying that I am no expert on Blackies, but have fished for them a fair bit, imo they are more easily targeted in winter through to about november, however they are still about all year round, grab yourself a mask and snorkel and you will see for yourself, as far as I know they spawn up in the brackish as the first sign of warmer water hits the estuaries and then return approx 1 month later, so armed with this info you should at least know which areas to target according to the time of yeay and the temperature, Ive also come to the conclusion that fishing a s light as possible will definatly get more hits, use a light float and minimal use of weight just enough to get the float down, (1-2 inch sticking out), I prefer a run in tide and seem to find the afternoon tide bite better, getting the best weed or cabbage is by far the most important aspect of targeting them, gets more difficult as the weather warms up, bait presentation is also key, try and make it look as natural as possible, less is better, start your session with the weed just off the bottom and work your way up until you find the area thay are holding in, always use berley, a good continual supply every 5 mins or so to keep them going, having said all this their are times when thay just dont seem to bite, try and stay mobile and move around a bit to locate the bite, even moving as little as 20-30 metres along the ledge will sometimes produce more fish, anyway thats my 2 cents worth, I am sure that their are others with more experience that will correct me if Im wrong, cheers Justin.
  4. You just cant help yourself can you, nice bit of kit though.
  5. Congratulations, good luck Jorg, except now you will be expected to surge to victories with record bags on the last day, heres hoping that u can achieve it, cheers.
  6. Tease, guys someone take up the offer, just riding in gregs boat alone is worth it let alone fishing with someone who really knows what he is doing, damn birthday parties, cheers dude have a good day tommorow.
  7. Was lucky to get an invite from good mate Gregl to have a crack at the nepean bass population, so off we went reasonably early at 6ish this morning, launched Gregs boat and headed for the gorge and beyond, was a perfect day not too hot or cold, overcast skies perfect conditions for surface bass, Greg had all the luck early catching a couple of small ones off the top, then we changed and started fishing gulps, Greg was rewarded almost immediatly with some very health specimens, Greg was then kind enough to suggest a colour change to me and I was immediatly rewarded as well, we fished pretty much all day alternating between surface, plastics and spinner baits, had an absolutley awesome day, we would have easily caught 50 plus fish by the time we headed for home, Greg even had a double hook up on two rods he was fishing at the same time, simply awesome, anyway heres a few picks of the better ones, cheers Justin.

    Gulp! Alive?

Clever thinking Jorg I knew you wernt just a pretty face, cheers.
  9. Gday mate I have tried quite a few of the packs, the lobby works well, cut down rigged bakwards fished on a resinhead pearl colour I think, skip it across the top when their are prawns around on dusk, the critter is about the best replacement Ive found for the 2inch berkley hawg, (no longer available), and the pro worm has worked well for me as well, the added bonus is they are abit more robust than the gulps, toads seem to have a bit more trouble messing them up, cheers Justin.
  10. Happy to give up a few spots, plenty of fish in the sea, espescially when u practice catch n release, will send u a pm Jamie, cheers Justin.
  11. No not there although I have fished that spot, has never really produced for me, too many bait soakers around for my liking, cheers. The areas that produce Bream on surface for me have alot of scattered rock, sand, look for areas of crushed shells on the shoreline, at night I think that splash and rattle are more important, it may also be related that their is alot of prawn activity at the moment, cheers.
  12. Gday folks found a new spot that has been producing some topwater bream from the shore not far from Gladesville, have fished this spot about 10 times for about 20 or so fish no real big ones yet, althought have been smoked a few times, I was introduced to surface fishing for Bream last year and this summer so far have been experimenting with different poppers and retrieves and for you lure junkies my go to popper at this point so far is definatly the stiffy popper not sure of the number bit it is translucent with light red stripes, sure is getting the hits at the moment closely followed by R2S bubble pop small one with green and bright orange, the new spot only fishes well so far on an outgoing tide, although I have fished it more on these occasions, their are quite a few rowing sheds around this area and when not fishing surface their are still Bream and lizerd and even a cod to be had also, quite possibly even a jew or rat king as I was severly smoked a couple of sessions ago by something that was not going to stop on 4pnd, anyway was severly bored all day watched the cricket a bit and was itching for a fish, so off I went about 7.15 to catch the laat hours on sun on an incoming tide, bagged a few Bream for my efforts, I think they were a bit quite due to all the boat traffic due to the awesome weather, cant wait to get back into cowan again to chase the blue noses on surface again with less traffic, funnily enough alot of the Bream have come after dark on the surface which I think is a little unusual, anyway heres a few I got tonight, cheers Justin.
  13. WOW!!!!!!!! Squid to 3-4 kilos in the hawksbury, well done mate they must have a mantle length of at least 80cm, surely a raider record, be sure to post the pics asap, cheers and well done.
  14. Off the wharf and all, well done to Pumpkinseed, shame about the lost one though, did you have a crack up the other end, cheers.
  15. Id bypass hawkesbury and fish patonga and ettalong, go past the rip bridge, once past their are some fantastic weed edges on drop offs, just follow the channel markers, their always a few around Ive found, failing that patonga beach drifts well on runout, cheers Justin.
  16. Going to check out the weed situation tommorow, sunday would be great but I ve got family stuff on, will pm you or call you tommorow regarding blackies, I may go on sat arvo or morning depending on weed and tides cheers, Justin.
  17. Noisy buggers can be a real pest sometimes,
  18. Mr Rudd has had his campaign funded by the unions, but we have not heard what they are going to want in return for their support of him, they have been kept very quite by Rudd, he has not been seen with any state leaders during this campaign, (wonder why), I think its a forgone conclusion that he will win and having the support of the greens could mean more marine parks, less 4wd ect, we can all only hope that his party does a good job regardless of his policies, dont forget guys his plan is to only abolish work choices for people earning less than 80k a year, I reckon that alot of people on this site are earning more that, people running small businesses that employ people are also looking at a 15% super payment instead of nine, so some people will get the sack potentially to cover the costs involved, just my 2 cents worth, cheers.
  19. Headed out to Pittwater on sat with a mate to chase the kings, arrived at 5am and headed to the squid grounds off west head, squid were a little hard to come by, but we picked up 3 and then headed to scotland island, trolled and drifted the squid all around the moorings on the southeast corner for no touches, not even pickers, we did see some surface action and flicked sluggos but to no avail, we then high tailed over to Barrenjoey and did a few runs back and forth for nil, no other boats were doing well either, by now our squid were looking no good so the decision was made to hit Lion Island western point where we have done well before on all sorts of species over the reef in about 9 metres of water, we dropped the pick and started burleying heavily, we had pillies, squid over the side and were also flicking 4inch gulps on 1/8ths about the place throught the burley, we caught the usual rubbish, wrasse and bakers and the snook pests, we were just starting to get despondent when my new loomis rod started bouncing a little, after a few some suttle touches, I loaded the rod up onto a good fish I called it for a king as it was pulling line off the certate 4000 with incredible ease and it was done up bloody tight, it was the best fight I have had on any rod ever, a stand of ensued of about 4 minutes with me gaining line then him pulling more off, eventually I had him subdued and he came to the surface revealing himself as a bloody big salmon, biggest ive caught going 71cm tip, sure was great fun and he was released to fight another day, all up had an awesome day although no kings this time, cheers Justin.
  20. Nice lizard mate well done, Im heading up that way on thursday for 4 days, although the weather seems like it might be crap, will give it a good go anyhow, cheers.
