  1. Nice Reds, shame I couldnt get out there with yah.
  2. Congratulations Greg, I know that you have been working towards this for a while and to get one on your own boat, even better, I know you have caught them before but achieving it as a boat owner and skipper must feel awesome, cheers Justin.
  3. Fantastic report Roberta, tried to get there this year, will be there next year for sure.
  4. Great report Greg, dont worry Im sure we will smack them on the Hawks.
  5. That last pic is a corker Jorg, sounds like the fishing was a little tough.
  6. When a rod is built be it a spin or a overhead, locating the spine is crucial for guide placement, they are only, if you intend to place on overhead reel on a spin rod you will have nothing but dramas, if you were to hook up on a fish the rod will be constantly trying trying to spin and twist in your hands, this is common even without incorrect reel fitted with baitcast style rods, that is why they have special types of wraps on baitcast rods compared to spin rods, if you need further info pm Ceph as he builds quite a few rods.
  7. Must be a few around then as I was kayak fishing mccarrs creek on sunday and saw 1 about 1 1/2 metres just cruising on the surface, he wasnt bothered by me at all, just swam about doing his own thing, however the bream bite went off for a little while, whilst he was around, cheers Justin.
  8. Any pics, juvenile golden snapper are easily identified by a large dark spot near the tailfin area, hence they are refered to as fingermark until they grow then they are usually found on offshore reefs, I also believe they are a ralative of the mangrove jack, cheers Justin.

    Aus Open

Just a heads up that Fishraider member Jorg aka Snag is currently in fifth place in what is arguably the toughest Bream event on the calander attracting all the elite Bream fishos like towner, mango, hickson, wright, clever, godfrey and the like, hes not too far out of the top three and I am hoping that he can bring home a good bag today, may even go down to the weigh in today, 2pm at drummoyne sailing club, cheers Justin.
  10. Everyone be safe and enjoy your day, cheers Justin.
  11. I understand what you are saying, however not sure they will know numbers at the sydney round until day of the comp as it is register on the day only, I thought that they would at least list the percentage of payback per entries, will just have to wait to find out I guess, I know the sydney round has generated a fair bit of interest locally and expect to see a fair turn out, I'm not expecting to win or place, but it would be nice to put a couple in the well, cheers Justin.
  12. I am surprised that they havnt updated there site yet as to any prize money offered for the top 5 placegetters, only 100 bucks for big bream per round and 500 bucks for series big bream, I hope that they are offering a percentage of payback as per entries like most other ABT comps, Roberta have u heard anything on the grapevine regarding this, Im sure that they will have to offer some sort of monitary prizes, I fished the last squidgies series on the harbour, (not abt), and first prize got 2850 bucks from a total of 120 odd fishos who each paid 60 bucks to enter, I reckon there will be about 60 kayak fishos judging from the response's from guys and girls on other sites, that equals a prize pool of 3 grand, they of course have to pay insurances and other costs to run it, however isnt that what sponsers are for, will be interested to see if anything changes closer to the date, cheers Justin.
  13. Guys and girls, we all need to voice our opinion on this, however emails are of little good, the pollies need not reply to these, letters are the onle way to go, if no reply within 30days you can then take it up with the ombudsman(spelling), perhaps there should be some sort of fishing forum website bipartisan approach, lets get all the members of all the websites together and organize a one voice approach from thousands and thousands of us fishos, I for one do not want to be told that I cant take my young boy for a fish at a spot where I once fished as a kid, we are a small bunch of people, however in the political world money speaks volumes, maybe we need to approach the ceo's of Bcf, BLAH BLAH BLAH, Bigw, Rays outdoors ect to gather a larger platform with which to raise our voice, these marine parks are going to go ahead regardless, its up to us to lobby to get at least some sort of commonsense approach taken, I for one have never voted labour or greens and never will, gone are the days of a fair go in this country for the minority, regulation of everything has seen to that, so just for once lets not sit idle and show them that there is a little bit of what IT MEANS TO CALL YOURSELF AN AUSSIE STILL REMAINS.
  14. I am definatly in for this one, currently in the process of sorting out my livewell as you need to weigh your two biggest bream alive, finally there is a tournament for Kayak anglers in sydney, well dont abt and hobie.
  15. Justinp give us a call if you wanna paddle across with us cheers damien How fit do you think I am, paddle over there, paddle around all day, then paddle back in the arvo, sounds like a challenge, dont think I will be able to keep up with your hobie though, I will give u a call, cheers Justin.
  16. Count me in too, no boat, happy to share costs incurred with anyone, Im no pro but Ive had my fair share of success using plastics cheers Justin.
  17. Looks sensational dude, plenty of room for rods and walking around, shes sure to provide you with plenty of memorable trips, cheers Justin.

    Tackle Hates

Tying a leader knot in bloody windy conditions, knowing full well u need glasses, finish a perfect knot and then trim the ends, (oops), trimmed the wrong line, really gets my goat and Ive done it on more that one occasion
  19. Awesome dude, and Im sure she rides a sweet as she looks, hope the icebox is big,
  20. Gday Damo, sure is a great place, went there many moons ago, went out on a charter like yourself and missed out on the marlin, however we did get some huge spaniards, were you staying on the east or west, lets get together for a fish soon, cheers Justin.
  21. Sure was a tough day, and we did throw just about the whole tackle box, usually when Greg fished light Id fish heavier and vice versa just trying to crack a pattern, Greg is right we found a stack of fish on a marina wall however they couldnt have been less interested in what we threw, so we moved into the cove, Greg pulled 1 off a hull, and all I could manage was undersized, but alas it was a great day to be on the water with good company, in hindsight we probably should have persisted with the marinas and alternated between the one we fished and the one on the other side, theres always next time, cheers Justin.

    The Past

Sweet memories, I had the pleasure of fishing quite a bit out of both skeeters, Greg kind of reintroduced me into fishing, so my sweetest fishing memories are standing on the back of those skeeters throwing plastics and the like to bream and whatever else would jump on the end of our lines, so I myself will miss those days and the boats alot. I dont think that I would be the fisho I am today without Greg or those boats, I know it has been a tough decision to let her go, but the new beast should more than make up for it, oh and p.s lets jig work soon and see what the new one can really do.
  23. I can just imagine bream fishos checking out the name of every boat in the cove, too funny, oh well at least I know where it is, too bad I dont have a boat. Wheres the contender?
  24. Sure gets my casting arm twitching, nothing quite like a day out there, cheers.
