  1. My guess 93cm and 5/1/2 kilos, and I think you lost your belt
  2. ceph is right with the flatties, with bream, a strike pro pygmy fished over the top of the racks at hight tide should go allright, fished slow with a stop start retrieve, failing that, gulp worms in camo fished on hidden weight, cast into the shadows on washboards or racks and hold on , minimum 8pnd leader in this situation, cheers.
  3. Hit one of my favourite Blackie spots early sat morn for a session, burleyed up and it wasnt long before the downs started, ended up bagging about 12 lost count, no real big ones today, although this spot has produced my pb of 42 cm before, this spot is a bit different to others in that when you drop one you will be lucky to get a down for 1/2 hr, so knowing this I took the bream rod as well, their were bait schools all over the place and some surface slurping so whenever the schools came throught I would put the blackie outfit down and chuck crankbaits throught the school varying the retrieve, had a couple of very respectable kings follow right to the edge just about alas no strike, was very exciting though, had one good hit on the drop further out that resulted in an instant snap off when I struck, know idea what it was, I guess that is what yor get fishing 6pnd and 4pnd for kings, cheers Justin.
  4. Family day on sunday so myself, mrs and son headed off to Chinamens beach for a bit of a swim, picnic, frolic, I sneakily put the bream rod in the car and a few placcies and stuff, after arriving sneaked off to the western end and started throwing a gulp worm on a 1/11 nitro for a few half hearted hits when the rod loaded up and the drag started peeling a bit, strange fight no sideways movement only directly backwards, squid I started to think, well the end result after a few nervous moments a pb squid for me was landed on a bloody gulp worm pinned throught the long tentacle, total length was 62cm and mantle length was 36cm, sure tasted great lasnight, cheers Justin. May be a record mods please check thanks.
  5. Gave myself a leave pass on fri arvo and headed to a local spot for plastics session, things were quite at first, so I changed from a craw to a vibe looking for a reaction bite, weel second cast got smashed, now I ve caught some pretty decent fish on this rod, but it was bent over like never before all the way through the bottom guide, 2minute stand off it ran for shallow water and the water erupted like a bloody crocodile was in their then it was gone with my vibe, (gggggrrrrrrr), put on smiths crankbait and continued on had a few hits near some mangrover but the lure kept coming back with weed on it, changed to daiwa presso popper, first cast bang, only a small bream really about 29cm but it gave a really good account of itself, bagged a flattie after that, only small, went home soon after happy in the knowledge that I will be back for revenge, at no stage did I get colour on the fish as the water was still murky from the rain. (Jew or masssive flattie). cheers Justin.
  6. Goldfish can be full of parasites and make the barra sick, if your going to feed them to him, make sure that you quarantine them in a seperate tank and treat them with some salt first for aout a week, or better still train them to take flesh foods, will take some time but it will happen.
  7. Sure was a tough morning for me, the other boys seemed to have a handle on things though and it was nice to bag a couple of good ones in the arvo over a few beers, they bite better in the arvo I think, sure was great to fish with Ceph (chris) again and to meet Royce, highlight of the day was watching Chris take a huge tumble on slippery rocks midfight, but he calmly stood up and landed a nice specimen, he also landed one whilst on the phone earlier, who says men cant multitask, also fished with Snag (Jorg) for the first time today, (have met before), and his company was great, (sneakily he brought the bream rod and also bagged a decent flatty 50-55cm whilst waiting for the bite to come on, camo worm cant beat them), anyway fun had by all, cheers Justin.
  8. Well done Jeremy, Ive seen the rod in question and it is surely a sweet stick, I noticed that when we went out he was starting to find the range with his casts then too, a few years and you will be taking him up the cape with you, look out AFC in 10 yrs, I have that lure that you mention Greg pitty I didnt try it last time, I figured it was a bit small, cheers Justin.
  9. Hard luck Ceph, was a tough weekend, Greg and myself lucked out on sat morn as well fishin for blackies, hardly a down all morning, went home dejected, so depressed that I went and brought a brand new lcd tv and digital camera to cheer myself up, gotta catch more fish as this hurts the wallet, keeps the happy and now I can post pictures of all the maaaaaaaaaasssssssssssiiiiiiiiiivvvvvvvveeeeeeee fish I keep catching , cheers Justin. p.s weekend still on?
  10. I think he might be fishing with a longer pole than u are.
  11. Well done dude, looks like things have hotted up since we were their a two weeks ago, better sized specimens, were you using the same techniques that we did last time, the cloud cover probably helped a bit, what surface lure were thay hittin or did it not really matter, cheers Justin.
  12. I have been offered and accepted an all expenses paid fishing saferi up to Darwin and sourrounds for four days in March, however the fishing tour guide or base to which we will stay has not been decided, so can anyone on this site reccomend an operator that they have used before, any advice greatly appreciated, cheers Justin.
  13. Well done Chris, good to see you crack a few.
  14. Just undo the engine mount and jack the engine up and it will probably give you a little more clearance, p.s I am a mechanic, not too familiar with the tauras, but nothing is hard, some things just take longer than others, cheers Justin.
  15. Down near where we went weed prospecting that day.
  16. Finished work about 2.45, gotta love working for yourself, headed down to my spot x for a blackfish session, didnt have any weed, but I knew that their would be some where I went, how ever all the weed was sunbleached and jelly like, grabbed the best bits I could find and made some berley all be it not much and kept the nicest bits for the hook, berleyed up and cast out started watching my float 20mins goes past, wind in and recast, was not ecpecting much as the weed was really crap, placed the rod in crevice and picked up the bream rod with a new sfactor lobby and proceded to cast about for about 5mins then looked over for my float and it wasnt their, put bream rod down and loaded up the blacky rod, fish on good specimen of about 30cm or so, this went on for another hour or so and I landed four more and one was a beast of about 40cm, he bricked me twice, was a few nervous moments but I landed him, took a few photos on the phone, fished on for a while then headed, cheers Justin, all fish caught were released back into the parra river.
  17. It might help if you can tell us what time of the day you have been targeting them, also waht type of outfit you are using and such, cheers Justin.
  18. Fantastic effort guys, great reward for a tough session, although I am with KeepingTabs on this one, would have prefered to see him swim off, each to their own I guess, well done all the same.
  19. Gday Bulldog, I have fished the upper reaches past the epping rod bridge from my kayak a few times recently, nothing too great to report but I have always bagged a few flatties, I have seen bream in the snags, some good ones too, but they were still quite skittish, I bumped into another yak fisho 1/2 way batween the epping bridge and the weir and he said that he got smoked by a jew, I believed him and he seemed sincere enough and their have been scattered reports of jew around the epping bridge, some of the water is really deep their, hope this helps cheers Justin.
  20. Well what a great weekend, Greg and myself headed out to the nepean with his 7yr old son Jeremy on sunday, the air at the boat ramp was cool and rich with anticipation of some thumper bass, Greg had caught impoundment bass before but never wild river bass, and I had never caught a bass, we were armed with all the right gear and a little bit of local info on what areas to target, we all started throwing surface lures of different types and after about 45 mins we knew that it was not going to be easy, after a few lost lures into the trees I tied on a stiffy popper and got a surface strike, however didnt get the hooks, we moved around a bit and started throwing pony heads and after a while I landed my first bass, then a few casts later got my second, not huge fish bit great all the same, all fish caught were around 32cm, Greg bagged a few and it was not long until we called it a day now armed with some local knowledge of our own on what conditions and areas of the river best suited, thanks Greg had a top day as always. Day two Greg had told me earlier in the week that he had arranged to meet Chris (Ceph) at spot x on Monday to help him fine tune his blackfishing, so we all met at around 7.30 and after introductions settled in to watching our floats, well what do you know Chris bags a fish after about 10 mins and I though to myself whos teaching who here, it turns out that Chris is a well versed fisho in most areas and was very open about his techniques and areas that he regulary fishes, we all got a few fish a Chris got a very respectable one, highlight of the day for me was almost landing a flattie on the weed during a retrieve I was so amazed that when I saw it I kinda forgot about about landing it and it snapped me off, all in all a great morning with good people and I think that we will take Chris up on a few Kingy sessions this summer, cheers Justin.
  21. Teach yourself and your mate how to get back on your kayak in someones pool before you go out, otherwise if you do happen to tip out, your not left with a possible long swim back, also advisable to fish with the tides, no need to paddle back into a rushing tide, fish out with it and then back in with it, definatly wear a pfd, get one with pockets so you can store braid scissors, knife and pliers, take minimal stuff for your first few trips and build up from their and most of all enjoy, cheers Justin.
  22. Mate you will have a ball, seriously jealous, if you need someone to look after the skeeter while youre gone, im your man, you will also have to leave the keys to the x5 so I can tow it to the carwash, wouldnt want it getting dusty in the garage, lol, cheers dude see yah soon.
  23. Just a thought that you may be able to break up the fishing reports into, estuaries/harbours, offshore, freshwater and also something for the kayak fishers amongst us, cheers Justin.
  24. I see youve still got some of those cigars left, well done on the fish, I will have to get out this weekend starting to get fishing withdrawals, the is away this weekend hopefully the sun will shine and she does not leave me too many chores to do. p.s go the vibes.
