  1. The wall used to be the gun location with big schools cruising up and down but the low water levels have changed things considerably. The most productive areas are now the banks and if there is a wind pushing on to the bank all the better. 5-6 inch minnows in darker patterns seem to be very productive at the moment.

    Rod Blanks

A few years ago I grabbed a seconds blank out of a discount bin at the BA ($8), the whole rod cost me less than $20 to build and I have caught more fish on it then all the $300-$400 rods I own combined.

    Which Boat

The Stacer will be able to handle any thing the harbour can throw at it with ease. Both the 470 pt and 470pte are v bottom hulls and have no problem pushing over a harbour swell.
  4. The sad thing is that's it predominantly other fishos doing the stealing. About 5 years ago a mate had his 3 week old dunbier stolen from the mooney mooney ramp. The funny thing was he was in such a rush to get his new boat out he jumped in the car and it wasnt until he started reversing down the ramp that he noticed his shiny new trailer had been replaced with a 50 year old back yard job with 8 inch wheel barrow wheels and the only thing holding it together was the electrical tape on the rust . At least insurance payed for a new one. Trouble is not all people have insurance.
  5. The area in side any marina is regarded as private property, but I can asure you the area out side is not. Most of the marina's work on bluff and halversons is no different. As most would know, the majority of marina's class thems selves as marine sanctuaries to stop fisherman smelling up the place with prawns/pillies etc. Halversons do not hold any right of claim outside the marina so you are free to fish there.
  6. Some how I dont think there will be too many regrets. Halvorsens has changed over the years, they are not interested in the little guy hiring out the tinny any more, their focus these days is the new marina and the expensive boats that are in it and the income that is obtained from them. The hire tinnys are more of an eye sore to the luxury boat owners and I'm sure the fishos who hire them are just as unwelcome. Halverson now think they own the bobbin head area, just try and fish any where near their marina and I'm talking outside of it. They will always try and put the bounce on you to leave the area. I had one imbosile try and tell me that Halvorsens leased the whole area right to the opposite shore line and all the water in between was private property . The hire boats are no longer economically viable, not because of public liability but because their presence and that of the people that use them, may turn away potential berthing customers for the marina.
  7. I wouldn't be too worried about high speeds as I think waterways are about to drop a big bombshell in relation to speed limits on NSW waters.
  8. Oops, I stand corrected. David Green had already qualified at St Clair. Great to see you in the GF, give it to them
  9. Sensational effort Mick and stop thinking about that second session 2nd fish and what could have been. You are making a habit of only missing out on a GF by one spot this year but its a habit I wouldnt mind having.
  10. Hi Harry, My Stacer has full alicore throughout the deck and hatches, thats one of the reason I went for it . I'm not sure if any of the other Telwater boats have full alicore as yet but no doubt they will in the future.
  11. It's easy to tell us apart, Mick C catches fish and I dont , but I think Im the better looking out of the two of us
  12. Yep, $450 is pricey, I paid about (cant remember the exact price) $350AUS delivered for a 37 a few months back.
  13. I think warped decks will be a thing of the past, I have an 04 model stacer and it has alicore decks so I'm assuming all quinnies coming out of the same factory will now have alicore as well
  14. I'm one of those guys, I prefer a sounder with readings in imperial, I wouldn't buy a sounder that just displayed in metric.

    Honda Dealer?

I did the ring around Sydney a couple of years ago when I was after a honda and Webbe marine at Kirawee were the cheapest. I have purchased two off them over the years, thier contact number is 95217944.

    End Of A Good Reel

My first serious beach outfit was similar, a 2450 (Which still works) and a 2 piece butterworth rod with wire runners. Both state of the art in the early 80's
  17. The detuned eco problems have been raised on a number of web sites but I think Tony addressed the problem as I have'nt heard of any problems of late, but maybe a couple have slipped through. I had a couple of SX48's which would only swim right, one of which I couldnt tune and it ended up hitting the bin. The other is still sitting in the tackle box till I find the time and patience to tune it.
  18. With the intake facing up, there is no way the pump would be able to prime unless the boat was completey stationary, even then I wouldn't be surprised if it got an airlock. As the other guys have already suggested, turn it around, cut a 45 degree slot and it should work fine.
  19. Went out to last years show and it was very ordinary. That show used to be a free show at Silverwater and they had a heap of boats that would suit every style of fishing. Since they have moved to R/Hill the boat range is more family orientated with very few fishing rigs. Didnt see any fishing gear there and only one stand with a couple of sounders.
  20. You wont last too long fishing landbased any where near liquidity, which includes waterways, the super yacht mooring and the small marina where the water taxis berth as Mr security is always lurking
  21. It's always good to put a fuse in to any electrical circuit, but in saying that I never put one in to my last Minn (55ap), and I havent got one in the current (65Ap). I think if you have your Minn battery charging off you motors alternator or you use the cranking battery as its power source, then a fuse would be a good idea in case of a surge. But I dont charge off the alternator or use the cranking battery and when I do charge the batteries I disconnect the Minn via the anderson plug. The statement on the Minn obviously refers to wiring in relation to the cranking battery, which I would never run a Minn from. Minn APs suffer a few problems but I have never heard of one blowing up from a power surge.
  22. Stickers look great , who did them as I need to get some new rego stickers made up??
  23. Mick, do you have the model number for the light 6ft stick.
  24. If you charge you gell DC off your alternator you are going to shorten its life considerably. DC batteries, especially gell types hate quick discharge/recharge scenarios like an alternator will provide. Cranking batteries are designed to accept this type of treatment but DC batteries aren't. The alternator will keep toping the battery up all day, although at the end of the day you may have a full battery, over time you will find the batteries capacity reduced. All DC batteries like a constant discharge and then a constant re-charge. The guest charger Bill suggested is perfect for the job. If you get the Sonns for nothing I dont suppose it matters, but they are not a cheap battery and if I had them in my boat, they wouldn't be going any where near the alternator.
