  1. Beautiful snapper! Got to be happy with that! Any more info? Bait? Plastic? Light gear? Cheers Peter
  2. You're right Mpala, it's a Painted Grinner (Trachinocephalus myops) Cheers Peter
  3. Great mixed bag there brudus. Some big mowies. What depth were you fishing? And were you anchored or drifting? Also, did you get the tarwhine offshore because I've only ever caught them in close, or off the beach? Good to see the catch shared with family and neighbours. There's a top seafood feast in that lot. Cheers Peter
  4. Great fish Ray! Top way to spend an afternoon! Like the last pic. Cheers Peter
  5. I think you're just showing off now Bustoff! Two trips in a row! Two great snapper with decent bumps on their heads too! Great work! No wonder you'll be sticking to the sps. Did you lose much gear to the 'coutas this time? And how was the current? It was moving very fast when I was down there last Thursday. Cheers Peter
  6. Interesting collection of fish you and Chris caught Groper. Shame about the weather and missing out on the deep sea trip, but at least you scored a feed. Like you said, Chris certainly scored the catch of the day saving your reel. Cheers Peter
  7. "Toothy" barracouta. (click on the image to see it's teeth full size) Mean lookin' mother.
  8. Great catch guys What depth were you fishing in? Did you have any problems with the current? We found the current moving south very fast last Thursday. Cheers Peter
  9. Great conditions and a few good fish! That's a decent trev too. Good way to spend a few hours Ray. Cheers Peter
  10. Nice fish Bustoff! I'm not interested in eating those 'coutas. I've seen a couple in the past that were full of worms. Kinda put me off them. However, are they any good for bait?
  11. I really enjoyed reading your report Roberta. Some great fish there. Michelle's bream was a cracker! And your flattie was a beauty too. Couple of great sessions. However, I wouldn't have liked being wedged up against the lease poles. Brilliant photos too. How's the "serenity" in the last shot! Cheers Peter
  12. It was exactly the same for me last Friday Pete. There were plenty of slimey mackerel around. They're quite big too. I also caught a few undersize flatties and some rays. Someone said that the trawlers had been hitting Bate Bay early in the morning. They can really clean out the area of decent fish. Good luck if you get out tomorrow. Cheers Peter
  13. Great report Skip! Just what I expect from you and Dene. I've been thinking it was about time you put up a report. Looks like the Black Mamba was a success. It's great getting some new gear and finding that it does live up to expectations. You reckon the sambos "weren't real big (between 50-65cm)". What do you call "big" down there??? Good to see you out on the water again. Cheers Peter
  14. Good that you at least scored a few fish Yowie. Did you have any problem holding bottom with the current moving fast? I haven't bothered heading down that way for a while because the jackets killed us the last few trips. At least you caught a few of the little "line snippers". Cheers Peter
  15. Brilliant catch there piratin! Well done guys. Cheers Peter
  16. Very sad news. My condolenses to Ray, Karen and their family. Peter
  17. Mean lookin' water Ray. Great shots! Cheers Peter
  18. My mate Syd told me that when he was a kid, his father caught a bonito on a sinker. His dad was pulling in the line when the bonito grabbed the sinker. It went in it's mouth and out through the gill slit and got stuck. Cheers Peter
  19. Well said Basil! Nothing worse than putting up a report and getting no replies. I would encourage anyone who hasn't posted to at least say "Well done" to someone who has. I know there are many people out there who are unable for many reasons to even get out fishing, but they can still contibute to the site, even if it's just congratulating someone else. Also, never be afraid to ask a question. I've lost count of the number of times people like Hodgey, Roberta, RayR, Slinky etc have helped me. And believe me, I've asked some "dumb" questions. Basil, you also said that you don't catch big marlin, tuna or kings. Well either do I, but I still enjoy reading your reports, both the successful ones and the "less than successful" trips. Keep your reports coming as far as I'm concerned. Cheers Peter

Well done Basil! 2000! You've put up some great reports. Cheers Peter
  21. Great afternoon Ray! 15 blackies - top result! Cheers Peter "Very nice feed of fish there old fella!" Are you going to let Hodgey get away with that Ray?
  22. Another good day for you Chris Shame about the kingy (and the net). We broke my mate Syd's net (the rim actually) a few months ago when we caught a couple of decent kings. He replaced the aluminium rim with stainless steel. You're right about the bonnies being okay smoked, but have you tried filleting and smoking the trevs? They're pretty good too. That's a decent size salmon and snapper are always good to eat. Cheers Peter
  23. Great result Byron! And good news for your many friends and family! ... but bad news for the jewies in Sydney!!! Cheers Peter
  24. Hope it all goes well Byron. Best wishes for a quick recovery. Cheers Peter
  25. Four jewies in two sessions. Great effort Nick (Of course that's only three more than I've caught ALL year ) Definitely worth braving the cold! Cheers Peter
