Keep persisting. Maybe take it off & soak it. Bush only in that - No bearing so keepworking at it. When you get it apart give it a big clean & oil it. I open up & oil all the rollers on my reels regulalry especially as I use mostly braid.
They are still a top little reel.

I pick up my new Curado DC today. I tried a cheaper reel but should have saved my money!!
Interesting regarding use of heavier line. Makes me feel better as I have a heap of 30lb braid so will use that.

Thanks for the report. Where do you place the hook(s) in the bananas?? What a cheap lure!! I can use hraps of them off Coffs Harbour. Now where is the photo fo the Big Fella with a Kingie!!??
Better send him up our way so we can get him sorted.

My merc has a plastic nut too. The rest of the unit is pretty light metal. Would not like to hit it with force. Heat won't work. Penetrating fluid will take ages and the plastic will get harder to work with. I would favour drilling it out & replacing with a new one - obviously some oil/grease when reinstating. Biggest concern is getting some of it in the system - or getting it out if it falls in. I think mine has a drain - that would be useful.

I wished I had a cuddy cab when the kids were younger so they could get out of the sun and also as they usually liked to have a lie down.

You lot crack me up. Thanks for the Monty python skit - perfect. My Grandfather was "intolerant" in his later years. Had no time for idiots. Born in 1908 in Melbourne. Managed his way into Y2K then pulled the pin. Wanted a refund on his 10 year Passport which he needed for my brothers wedding in NZ. His lot saw the most changes in human history. Cars, electricity, telephone, 2 world wars, 3 monrachs, new countries created, old ones gone, depressions, recessions, booms, 10 pound poms, white australia policy, multi national Australia, internet, he even facetimed overseas, travelled overseas on a jet plane (and by ship), and god forbid he even saw the Wobblies win a world cup. My kids think they know everything buthave seen nothin. No wonder we are GOM.
No that's not true. I am a GOM cause I haven't been fishing. The kids can look after themselves but this constant rain & floods along the coast is proving very challenging - especially to lots of affected families.
Being a GOM is an asset to society.

You Guys Were LUCKY!!! We had two (2) chanells on a black & white TV - when the electricity worked (living in a rural area west of BigNeil) AND the arguments over who should get up off their backsides to go & change the chanell.
Imagine the Luxury when we got a fancy "remote" conrol that plugged into the front of the new TV.
I recall listening to (one of 2 chanells) the radio at the grandparents over breakfast - That was the news of the day.
Fortunately the parents have kept up with modern advances - probably more than me - so we use all those things BN uses to keep in touch. But I wonder if it is "better"!! How long since we have received a letter in the mail as a form of contact/communication other than a bill??!! I suspect my kids would struggle with writing a letter to their grandparents.
Am I sounding like another GOM?? Must be time to go fishing

Thanks for the report and commiserations on your loss. Keep your expectations for Crowdy in check - the young fulla & our mate fished today for 1 snapper on a livie. They dished shallow. Water 23 but still dirty. Sloppy conditions. Sounds like you should try wider. Keep us posted. Hoods

Thanks for a great post - I have the Deckee app on my phone - it has been invaluable in these weather events with warnings etc which is invaluable. However I cannot find the radar on Deckee which is imperative for my work & of course fishing (should I ever make the time to go) Consequently I use both and when in the office lately I have the bom on all the time.
Am I missing something on the Deckee app??!!

Have a look at Kiandra (nothing left now after the fires) but you can get into the upper Murrumbidgee with great fly fishing. Kiandra is home to the first snow skiing in Australia and right on the highway. Tip: Stop at the Bakery in Adaminaby for world class Cherry Pies & a proper coffee. Otherwise consider Eucumbene Gorge and camp nearby. Looking forward to the report. Hoods

Thanks for the report BN, I would consider 2 fish to be quite productive in such a short period. The birds in the trees look like Corellas - very noisy, destructive & real characters at times.
If you are missing fishing dirty water you could come up the coast for a visit!!! (you will need waders - leave gumboots at home)

Well done Scratchie. How sweet it must be to get one in the bucket.
It seems to be a big year for Cobia. A report last week of a double hookup up this way last week however one was taxed. The one boated was about 13kg. The wings went on the BBQ the other day.

Good to see you're getting out. If you were on the coal wall you should put a hook in that Tailor and send it back. The Manning is still dirty but slowly clearing. I was at Macksville last week it is looking a lot better. Good news about the bream being fit & healthy. They would be a lot of fun on vibes. Thanks for the report.

Greetings Phil, I fish further south than your location and find no success with lures at all for those two. Only livies. I have also stopped using wire in front for livies which i believe gives a better hook up rate.
My biggest issue is the TAX MAN. Last year was a donut thanks to Tax!! This year have not been out (yet).
Further north past Coffs the lures seem to work but I think they are too educated when they get to us.
You might try lighter wire if you are having issues. Especially for the Spotties.
Try some stick baits while yoou are slow trolling.

Thats Luxury!! I need a snatch strap to get half way up the back. I'm thinking of spray topping it with a light roundup application to give me more time to go fishing.

There used to be big schools along the east coast usually over winter which were great fun. They go hard & are fun to catch. However any resource has usually been netted into oblivion so not as common any more. They are a good table fish. Surprisingly good as raw fish and good for fish dishes like curry or fish stew etc.
3-4kg "blurters" go as hard as Kingies. Try them thinly sliced raw on a bed on wasabi with your choice of garnish.
