  4. G'day Raiders! To say that my holidays and this past week has been a fun time is an understatement, I fished every single day two sessions each catching fish every session on lures! I bought a new lure rod after my previous stick decided to snap... However all is well and good as I have gotten around 14-18 fish on my new rod in a week or two worth of fishing! Still got some great sessions in with plenty of great fish! Got some gorgeous flathead over the first few days and only kept one with releasing the rest interesting enough I also got a talior when they came up the river dialing in at 32cm along with a bunch of 45-55cm plus flathead! Over the holidays and into the first week of the term I managed to get two stonka bream on lures the smaller one being 35cm and the other at a HUGE 41cm both released of course to make some more for me to catch and also the fact that they are just too beautiful to keep. The 41cm slammed the lure on the drop and I felt a lot of weight and set the hook hard resulting in the catch of the day. Cheers for reading everyone! I know this may be a bit of a report in disarray but nonetheless i've been doing really well on the lures catching plenty of beautiful most of which have been released. I lost some very big fish over the holidays too namely an 80cm plus flathead that I lost just as I nearly won the fight.. A mullet snapping me off and losing many others that were around the same size as the ones I lost.
  5. I've heard of people using bungee cords and stringing them from the handles on the top of the window from either side of the card and then fastening their rods to that but if the rods are 1 piece and on the longer side as JonD said I stick them out the window keeping them flush with the car. Hope this helps in some way Cheers, JamoDamo
  6. Where'd you find the aurora estuary blackfish? I've got the jimmy crane light which was my first rod for it but I know theres some on the market to try although I have a snyder glas so probably no point regardless good feed!

  9. Man that was our first good sesh in a while aye. Good work on the jew really proud of you man you finally achieved ur landbased jew dream! I think if we fish the same we did today there will be many more to come
  10. Hey raiders yet another thread asking about all there is to do with fishing, In my entire fishing career i've never owned but I have used graphite rods. I've used composite and fibreglass up until now and I have now gotten a graphite rod for lure fishing. I noticed on my abu garcia redmax that below the first runner there was a icon saying that the rod was "24 ton graphite" and I got curious, I've looked it up but still I am unsure about what it means, also I have noticed compared to my mates salty fighter that it does not cast a 1/8th or 1/12th as far as his does I am pretty sure it would be the stiffness of the blank right? Anyways thanks again guys keen to hear some responses! Cheers, JamoDamo
  11. Yes please would like to get some stuff to outfit future boats
  12. Hey raiders, I've bought a good little stockpile of my own sp to use anytime I want to go out. I have practiced rigging and found out how poor squidgy durability quality is! Rigging them on the hook even rips them up and it just doesn't seem cost effective. Buying a few more zman before I completely stop my shopping spree ahahaha. What is everyone elses thoughts on them? I personally really like them but they just rip so easy.
  13. Nice bag of fish there mate!
  14. Congratulations Donna and Stewy!
  15. Always bringing home a nice feed Yowie good work as always!
  16. Thanks waza! In my experience I liked the blackies better but they are both great! Thanks mate! I didn't think i'd be getting this much attention on one report but happy I have! Yeah I am waiting for summer this winter has been painfully long and so bad for fishing but oh well Yeah it sure did I was determined to get something! Yeah ugly but tasty, I love the fact they will eat most lures that you throw at them makes it less challenging for a beginner/novice lure fisherman but I guess I know enough to get by!
  17. I might buy scent if they become finicky but I think I should be ok
  18. Sure was tasted so good! Thanks Rebel! Thanks Green Hornet! Yeah I just did quick hops across the bottom with 8 second pauses. I have some 2.5 inch zman grubz in midnight oil so I might give them a go I don't have any scent but I'll buy some just in case its needed.
  19. Thanks Yowie! Yeah he was a nice fish good fight in him first fish I've gotten in months. Thanks Donna! I am buying a few more bits and pieces tomorrow so that should sort me out for a long time to come! Yeah some days they are on fire some days they are not, the other report I made was at one of the spots I went to and we got 5 legals and 2 undersized ones along with two more legals I caught on the day : Just shows they can be so good on one day and nothing the next.
  20. Very nice, interesting to see how the older gear is still going and still catching fish
  21. Thanks Ryder appreciate the kind words. Sure did I was stoked when I got it in!
  22. Thank you for teaching me how to rig them properly and most importantly how to use lures thanks mate thats what helped me succeed!
  23. G'day Raiders! Today I got off my longstanding donut of around three months (I know....), I recently bought my own little stockpile of soft plastic lures and all that I need to fish with sp, anyways I started fishing at around 10:20am off one of my local spots 5 minutes from me on the beautiful Georges River, I switched the Bloodworm wriggler 100mm over to a black and gold 70mm squidgy fish for nothing too. I then moved off from that spot to another one close by for again nothing. I then moved to another spot where I finally had some action, I fished off a little rock wall with shrubs surrounding it with yet another lure change to a silver fox 70mm squidgy fish and came up on top with a really nice little eating size Dusky Flathead at 40cm. It was a great fight with lots of headshakes and two nice runs but eventually I was able to take control of him and I preceeded to skull drag it to where I wanted to land it As you can see in the photo he scoffed the lure: I swiftly unhooked him and then dispatched him by snapping his neck so he was out immediately, When I got home I filleted, skinned and deboned him and then he turned into todays lunch of flathead fish bites and chips: All in all a nice little session on the Georges such a good feeling to finally be off the dreaded donut I honestly forgot what catching a fish felt like so good to see some fish bouncing back now that we are at the end of winter. Thanks all for reading hope you all have a great rest of your weekend! Cheers, JamoDamo
  24. More concerned about the hook size to match the plastic although weight obviously matters but all my spots are quite shallow anyways and I usually don't fish anywhere else. Would a 1/0 headlockz match zman minnowz 3"? I am going to get slim swimz and minnowz and maybe some squidgy fish or wrigglers maybe even some more grubz.
