  1. I was looking at the Braid Concepts but ended up going with a Daiwa Monster Mesh. Having heard the replies from other members, I'm even more pleased with my decision. I thought the Rapala's line rating was way overstated; should read more like 10-20lb in my opinion... When testing the 2 rods in the shop, I loaded both of them up, one after another, and my PE2-4 rated Monster Mesh absolutely killed the Braid Concept. Incedently, I really haven't stretched it too much yet. I've spent summer so far catching rats, which still put a nice curve in the MM (with a bunch left in reserve), with the largest kingy going 78cm. Hopefully I'll attach to a sea-monster soon!
  2. That's one MEGA croc ! You must be absolutely stoked... All I know is I'm very jealous; I'm yet to catch one over 75cm. Well done
  3. Holy crap that's a lot of squid!!!
  4. Well done mate, and a VERY happy birthday . One you'll remember for a long time I suspect
  5. Great colours on the dolphin fish. It looks like you've peeled it off a fishraider sticker! And the whale shark ... What a great experience that must have been!
  6. Sounds like a great session, and from the size of your grin it looks like you were enjoying yourself! I'm not surprised; that's a nice sized sambo
  7. That's a great haul of tasty looking squid. It's must be hard to save some for bait! Hope you get catch some sea monsters with them! Sorry to hear about the lost jigs, but at least their sacrifice wasn't in vein.
  8. Sounds like a really good session! Well done on the kingies on such light tackle.
  9. Great report as always Slinky, and those photos are spectacular! That first photo needs framing!
  10. That's bigger than my boat! She's a monster
  11. Boring!!?? You've got to be kidding! Congrats on the jewie on SPs and a one hell of a croc ! Good on you for putting the big mumma back
  12. Well done on a very tasty looking bag there Raii... apart from the eel! ... and that prawn is a lobster!
  13. Another awesome effort. You've must have a Bradman-like average with kingy size!
  14. Hehehe... me too. A bit like... MAN-EATING FISH vs MAN EATING FISH
  15. VERY JEALOUS!!! I bet you came back with slightly longer arms and a sore back!
  16. SOLID GTs!!! One day i hope....
  17. great flattie, especially on the light stuff . I bet it got the pulse racing!
  18. I'll strongly second this advise. You'll be into the flatties in no time with plastics or live poddies.
  19. What a beauty! Well done. That's a top effort
  20. Hi guy and gals, May be a bit of a dumb question, but where could I find out a list of what fishing clubs are out there? Is anyone here a member of a club on Sydney's northside? Does one exist? Cheers. Geoff.
  21. Well I'm absolutely spewing. I generally consider myself to be very careful with my beloved fishing tackle, but due to a momentary lapse into stupidity, I've managed to snap the top 2 inches of my 6'6'' Daiwa Procaster (one piece... originally). I really loved this combo for plastics and general light tackle work!!! What do you guys think? Should I go ahead and repair it, or is it not worth it due to a loss in performance? Realistically I think I would end up losing about 3 inches making it 6'3''... Makes me wish I'd bought the 7' model to start with ! Any advise either way would be greatly appreciated, and any repair tips would also be great. I know it's not the most expensive rod in the world but building up my tackle collection has been a long and difficult process of either hiding and/or justifying my many purchases to the Thanks in advance!
  22. Hi Timmy, I would give the same suggestion as WANNAFISH. Ross and Glenn Hunter are site sponsors so I'm sure they'd look after you. They've certainly posted some great reports on this site and I'd love to go on one of their charters myself. Just be careful on this topic however as I've noticed there's been a bit of controversy regarding plugging charter operators.... http://fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=28073 Good luck on your charter though!!! Hope you catch a sea monster!

    Narabeen?

I have fairly regular success at Narrabeen Lake using live poddy mullet and soft plastics. My main target species is flathead, but larger bream are common using these methods as well. I find it frustrating using dead baits in the lake as there are far too many pickers and undersized fish. The livies seem to filter out these smaller irritating models. Live nippers are great on the whiting on the flats, but you go through a stack of them as undersized fish hammer them as well. I have found the busy long weekends and the period straight after can be a bit quiet on the bites, but give the livies a go. It's a good way of distinguishing your hooks from the 99% of other fishos who use frozen baits. Good luck with it!
  24. A lizard that size is a great effort on any line, but on 4lb is fantastic! Congrats
