Ben75 where do you get those daiwa jigs from?
-
Sent out emails shortly after posting and forgot to post and say thank you so thank you.
I found a place in Sydney that can get them and in total I'm looking at $250 to get 4 rod holders and 4 rail mount adapters so I thought to myself that I could save some cash by getting them from the us.... WRONG!
Total cost in the US came to $124 and with shipping fees it works out to be $230, then add in the cost of activating a bopo temporary credit card which is $14 and in the end I save myself $6.
From everyone I've spoken to so far there seems to be only 2 choices when it comes to rod holders and that's ram and scotty, some have said Ermo Cannon but I was wondering what people here think.

I'm trying to find anyone who sells the Rod 2000 Fishing Holder, does anyone know of any places in NSW that sell them?
I've emailed them but with no reply and all I can find are sales from places that are like ebay but I'm not really into purchasing from those kids of places.
Any help appreciated as 4 of these with the rail mount adapter will put the icing on the cake for the boat.

Bloody hilarious mate.
-
Yeah that's exactly what I wanted to do but the boat is in the garage in the process of having a new sounder installed.
-
Think I'll skip the celebrations this year.
-
Every time I go out on the water it just amazes me the sheer number of other boaties that not only don't know the rules but who just fly around recklessly.
-
Are you buying the boat from a person or from an auction?
If a person, where did they get it from?
There is a possibility that the boat was seized in the past by authorities and later sold, that's the only reason that comes to mind as why they won't release details.

Every boat this family has ever had has been called "What" and it started with my dad's grandfather.
He said that back in day of his grandfather all boats were called what, who, where and when and his was called what so we have kept the name going.
My grandfather used the name all his life, so has my dad and so have I and I will continue it on as well.

Well thinking that we'd never get there the boat is pretty much done.
Paint is done, the flooring (the frame work was our largest worry) went in flawlessly and turned out better than expected and we just picked up a shiny brand new motor to play with.
We decided on a 2007 Model 4-Stroke Mercury 30Hp EFI with stainless prop, which I might add was only $66 more then the aluminium one.
All that's left to do now is to buy the sounder, rope, chain, anchor and wire the electronics up and she'll be ready to hit the water.
I'll post pictures tomorrow when I drag it out for a wash as there isn't enough room in the garage to take a picture.
Speaking about sounders I think I've pretty much decided on the Lowrance x125, anyone had an experiences with this sounder? Good or bad.

It looks like a love connection gone wrong.

Maybe it wasn't a cod, there are plenty of fish in the wrase family that may fit the description that get larger than the average species of wrase most people catch.
-
I thought about them but they say they only get down as far as Nth NSW.
Yea I knew that when I suggested it.
The only other one that comes to mind that has blue spots is this one: http://www.amonline.net.au/fishes/fishfacts/fish/odentex.htm

It was dark orangy with blue spots. Pretty sure it was a cod it had a huge gob on it and the general shape of a cod.
The only thing that comes to mind is a Coral Cod as they are dark/deep orange with blue spots, did it look like this?

Although his fish in the picture doesn't have the same top fin as does this diagram...I think it isn't a juvenile amberjack...juvenile kingfish maybe...
It's definitely a Juv Amberjack.

We're looking at the various ways to do it ourselves without paying someone to make and weld the frame, we just want to cover all possibilities.
I personally would rather have the frame welded together and welded into place but I'm not the one putting the money into this project, I'm the one designing the layout, doing the floors, wiring and such.
Thanks for the speedy reply, definitely taking what you said on board.

Sad to say that our 5.25m is being put on the market as it overshoots our needs these days and we have just recently purchased a 2003 Sea-Al (Brooker) 4.3m hull and will be fitting it out pretty much from scratch.
It is in dire need of a floor and as such I need to find a company that can custom make and weld a frame to the to allow me to place a floor.
I also will need some framework in the stern which will create an area to hide the battery and petrol tank and some framework in the bow which will turn the space into storage and a casting platform.
Any suggestions of places in Sydney to check out prices?
We will be spraying the boat ourselves and would appreciate any advice on how to clean the alum. so it is ready for the undercoat.
It is very similar to this boat but seems a little more sturdier, higher sides, the bow has a larger platform to stand on and obviously does not have the platform between the front seat and anchor well.
Any help is appreciated.

LOL!

As long as they looks like these little buggers then yep.
I seem to have a gift where if I'm out fishing and there is a mutton bird within spitting distance it just happens to be one with an attitude and the biggest set of balls you've ever seen.
I see them at the back of other peoples boats making noise and trying to steal baits whilst I deal with ones that want to kill me, unlucky for them it's the other way around but luckily for them the most they will get from me is a bash over the head with a life jacket to scare them away.
-
I was even attacked by one when I pulled a fish into the boat!
It jumped on the fish when it hit the carpet, it opened it's wings, made an awful noise at me, then tried to peck my toes and shins and then proceeded to peck the fish.
It made friends with my life jacket
and it flew away.
-
As far as I'm concerned they can kill off the mutton birds!
I spent 45 minutes untangling 2 lines because of a dumbass bird that had to steal my bait.
It swallowed the hook which pierced it's throat and it bled to death on the surface.
I even had some fly off with the last 2 live slimies whilst I was busy up the front of the boat which was amazing because somehow the damn things managed to lift open the live bait tank.
They are a pest and should be dealt with accordingly in my opinion.

You'd change your mind if you tried it the way they cook it.
-
Sorry Pete there is nothing that will make eel edible.
On top of rice then grilled with a nice soy dipping sauce makes them edible, the japs know how to cook!

Thanks again, I'll drop them a line via the PM system once this mob gets back to me.
